    Can't even pencil whip for 30 hours of labor. Annual cost starts at 9:12 FYI Altogether sounds like a floor of $22,000 - 25,000 fixed costs [depending on Nav database] and $230/hr direct. But the ratio of non-routines to normal maintenance items is potentially big. It could easily double your annual outlay $5K is not enough rainy day money. Don't think you're gonna get into a C-340 and save money either - almost the same everything, just a bit faster. One point though is that a C-425 isn't that much more for better reliability and safety and performance. But the rainy day fund is more serious scratch like $50K and better treat overhaul fund like a mortgage payment. If you can find a reasonable Blackhawk 425, do it. Though Pratts are stupid money at overhaul, the interval is twice the time and fuel is less, so it comes close to a wash for the peace of mind.

    If people aren't calculating engine overhauls and prop overhauls into operating costs- they aren't calculating operating costs

    • @s4aviator804

      Of course. What I was saying is that some people, us included, don't include engine and prop reserves when we calculate our hourly DOC's, because they really aren't a direct operating cost.

      @@SauloMogi Easy to say in a TH-cam comment, totally different story when you’re the one who has to write a $250,000 check to do paint/interior on an airplane that’s worth maybe $600,000 on a good day. You’ll never get the money you spent back out of it, and the human organs we flew in the back didn’t care what the interior looked like. This airplane served that company in its medevac role for another 4 years and was subsequently parted out. Cheers.

      @@christopherjamesfleming966 Of course you are hahaha. You must be a ton of fun to fly with. I made this landing seven years ago when I was a 500 hour pilot with maybe 3 hours in type. It was my second or third landing in the airplane. Can’t really remember. Either way, you’ll have to excuse my 36 inch centerline deviation from nearly a decade ago. Best part? I’ll bet you’ve got an LR-JET type from when you no doubt flew them before your airline career got started. Probably some great memories, and interesting stories. And despite that, the best comment you can muster up is “Centerline?” Get a life man.

    • @christopherjamesfleming966
      @christopherjamesfleming966 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@s4aviator804 Yep. LR-JET type from when I flew -24s, -25's, and a -36 back in the '90s. And as I was a 24-year old captain then, just as I'm a much older and wiser international wide-body captain now, I wouldn't have called out your centerline deviation if you had attempted a correction. But you made no attempt at correction and accepted the deviation. It doesn't matter if it was your first flight or your last: as professional pilots we accept no errors and correct for all deviations. My comments here are constructive, not malicious. If you can't handle the most benign of criticisms, perhaps both a pilot career and a TH-cam channel aren't for you.

    • @s4aviator804
      @s4aviator804 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@christopherjamesfleming966 I think you're missing the point. I'll reiterate. This video was uploaded the better part of a decade ago. Offering criticism in 2024 on a landing someone made during the Obama administration is the farthest thing from constructive. It's like me criticizing your writing abilities based off a spelling error you made on an essay you wrote in the 5th grade. I was a 500hr pilot on his second trip ever trying to keep his head above water in a Learjet. As I look back at it now all these years later (As an international Gulfstream training captain operating in corners of the world airline pilots don't even think about, let alone fly to) I think I did just fine. Fly safe.

I fly a lot of DCS in VR, but when I want to enjoy MSFS, my go-to airplane is the awesome C414! BTW, I got my PPL at TEB in '98 (when there were a couple of flight schools there). Crazy busy place to learn, but so glad I had that experience! It was so busy, we had to go to CDW and MMU to practice landings and T&Gs. I actually soloed at MMU. A good friend of mine was a Controller at TEB at the time, so he'd try to minimized my wait time on the ground behind the big boys, whenever he could, lol. Burned a lot of avga$ on the ground back then 😂 Love your videos! I thought I subbed awhile ago when I bought the FSW414 , but apparently I didn't. I 'm subbed now though 😅👍🏾

    I'm buying a 414 because I heard of the spar problem the A model.

    • @s4aviator804
      @s4aviator804 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's probably the worst reason to choose a straight 414 over a Chancellor. With the exception of the first 200 airframes built, the spar AD doesn't come due until the airframe has 15,000 hours on it. There has only been one in-flight wing failure on this wing, and it was in a Cessna 402C that had 30,000 hours and over 100,000 cycles on it. 99% of the 414A fleet does *not* have the spar AD complied with simply because there aren't too many airplanes out there with 15,000 hours on them, and there's never been a failure in a 414A. Even if you bought a 10,000 hour 414A, you could fly it 200 hours per year for the next 25 years before the AD came due. The 414A is certainly considerably more expensive than a straight 414, but there's a reason for that. It's overall a much better airplane, and the values demonstrate that.
