    A lovely video. Your deer fence doesn’t seem to be very high. What height is it? PS. Your supporting actress is adorable!

    Really enjoyed season 1 and glad to see a second season. Beautifully shot and give a real sense of being on site. Fair play to the landowners for taking care of our countryside.

    in my area it is just criminal the amount of hedgerow and land feature removal that is taking place also a point worth mentioning is the dike - drainage ditch that traditionally accompanied the hedge tree line is at least as important as the hedge itself for wildlife habitat . but as long as no development takes place this habitat destruction can be reversed given time . ironically i think most farmers would agree with me

    Sadly, forestry is not taken seriously in ireland, most especially by successive governments. Their is no real support for private woodland owners who have dedicated their land to benefit the environment and society in general. Just look at the response of the government to ash dieback disease. Further compounded by the fact that due to negligence on their behalf the devastating disease was permitted to be imported into ireland. Until such time as things have radically changed with respect to government policies on forestry, I would be very slow to encourage anyone to become involved in planting woodland. I don't have the words to express my sadness in having to express these views.

    How lovely an organic farm with mixed trees. Keeping and nurturing a small forest is not easy so well done. Long may the forest grow, be useful and be enjoyed. Happy days.

    Great stewardship and vision James. Very different thinking to most farmers I know. Its getting late now to save many once common species from disappearing from our landscape because of short sighted farming practices.

    It's a great pity most farmers don't have Dermot's outlook on farming and biodiversity. In our part of Ireland land clearance still goes on every year leaving nothing but prairie for tillage farming. Well done I hope your actions inspire others.

    4/5 acres to raise a family is a big statement but one I hope to be true.

    • @MonkaD234
      @MonkaD234 ปีที่แล้ว

      4 or 5 acres to feed a family...I am thinking about this statement. If a farm, a business/start up, a job was chosen with the expectation to feed a family - body and soul - rather than with the question: how rich can I be, influential usw. If whatever I/ we do would give joy, health, satisfaction in spite of hard work occasionally too; and we therefore managed to ignore the constant stream of uninvited voices (advertising) that tell us what we lack, need, can't do without causing FOMO Could that be the start of regrowth ?? I had to get quite old to come up with this insight ..
