    15:26 One very easy way to solve the crafting being essentially useless, would be special recipes that could result in weapons and armor that could only ever be crafted, basically enemies, misiones, and quests, could have a rare chance of dropping blueprints for crafting items that can’t be found anywhere else other than crafting. Let’s say you pick up a blueprint that lets you make a massive plasma hammer or something, the only way to ever get a plasma hammer is to craft it, sure it will eventually get outclassed and become worthless, but you can make it and use it for at least a handful of levels before you fined a replacement.

    Thanks for a timely video. I just started (for the first time) into The Burning Shores 3 days ago. Full disclosure...I'm a HUGE Horizon fan, but only a casual gamer. I truly thought the first game, Zero Dawn was ground breaking, at least to me. I just replayed it (to 100% completion) a little over a month ago. Although the game was released in 2017, I didn't pick it up until 2020. I've played it through 4 or 5 times, including finally getting that platinum trophy for doing an Ultra Hard Game+ play through (probably won't do that again, I'd rather play on a lesser difficulty and just "enjoy" the experience). My only regret with ZD today is NOT being able to truly experience the unfolding of the story that you get on your very first play through (if we only had a memory purge feature in our minds). As a science fiction fan...I thought that was VERY well done. Part of my Zero Dawn play through included The Frozen Wilds. And at least to me The Frozen Wilds was so good and felt so "large" it was almost a stand alone game unto itself. Even with the release of Forbidden West/Burning Shores, I consider The Frozen Wilds Guerrilla Games best work. I could easily replay Frozen Wilds over and over. The machines added were so good. I enjoyed the story very much, and the NPCs were very interesting to me. Meeting that first Scorcher was a real "welcome" to The Frozen Wilds moment. The Fireclaw is one of the best machines in the series. So..because I've just started The Burning Shores, I obviously had to do a play through of Forbidden West (for some reason when I "moved" all of my game files from the PS4 to PS5 it lost most of my previous play throughs (although I at least had one that allowed me to play on New Game+). An Ultra Hard play through is the only thing I haven't done in Forbidden West. I almost had it (just couldn't get by Tilda in that final boss fight), but somehow that play through got corrupted...so I had to start over to get into The Burning Shores. No problem...I enjoy Forbidden West, just don't think the Forbidden West story is as good as Zero Dawn. So, my analysis for what it's worth. As noted The Frozen Wilds is the best of the franchise. The story in Zero Dawn is far superior to Forbidden West. Game play, facial animations, NPC interaction were all improved/better in Forbidden West (although HZD is still a very playable/enjoyable game 7 years after its release). My only quibble with Forbidden West was maybe they tried to do/add too much. The "Hunting Grounds" form ZD, became, "Hunting Grounds" + "Melee Pits" + "Gauntlet Runs" + "The Arena" + "Strike". All "enjoyable" if you like those kind of things...but to me it was just a bit bloated. So far...The Burning Shores "feels" like an extension of Forbidden West. This is my first play through, although I've watched several on TH-cam (so I kinda know what's happening and will happen). I too thought they would save the Horus fight for the final game in the trilogy. But...(there's always a but isn't there)...The Burning Shores just doesn't "feel" big enough. Yes...the interaction with Seyka and the "journey" Aloy and Seyka go on emotionally, physically, etc.,. is probably better fleshed out than anywhere else in the game, but to me it all feels a bit forced. Maybe if I liked Seyka more I would feel different...her character (although essentially a carbon copy of Aloy) grates on me in a way Aloy never had/did. And I'm one of those who feel bringing a "romance" into Aloy's life is not really needed, although giving her the decision point to "accept love" or "focus on her mission" is valid. I do love they brought back Gildun, easily the best NPC in the entire series (I haven't actually played that mission yet...but so looking forward to it). The new machines in The Burning Shores are "ok". The added aquatic abilities of the Waterwing is nice, but it's essentially an "aquatic" Sunwing. The Stingspawn are a nice addition, not powerful like the bigger machines...but fun to kill and can only be ignored at your own peril. Not really fan of the "reflux frogs". Their "jumping" ability is pretty cool though. Guerrilla Games obviously puts a lot into their machine creature designs. I truly hope we get some more epic machines in game 3, but looking at where the story seems to be going I'm concerned. I look forward to the 3rd game. I'm concerned where the story is leading (attackers from outer space seems to have been done to death), but we shall see. It might be interesting to see where your analysis of Hephaestus having the access/knowledge of the GAIA cauldrons AND Zenith "printing" tech will go. I know the folks at Guerrilla will put a lot of effort into it. It's obvious much of their work is indeed a labor of love. And I do LOVE the "world" of Horizon. The huge expanse, the different biomes you can explore. I admit in Forbidden West I've more than once just climbed as high in the mountains as I can climb to take in the sights....and then to use the Shieldwing to glide as far as I can. Like overriding Tallnecks...that never gets old. Thanks again for the review. This one earned you a "subscribe". I hope you have much success with your channel. (Sorry for the massive comment...I was woke up early this morning, 4:30am, and watched your video...I needed a brain dump before my work day).

      Expectations does this to people. They play it in a denial of it being so bad, just imagining what could've been. There's no arguments in favor of it, since being a RPG doesn't make the developers free from the guilty of making a space-themed game so spacially-limited. Could've been 50 planets, if they had no loading screens, atmosphere flight and contentful exploration, the game would be so much funnier, because after all it's a GAME not a reality simulator.

    Good video. Although I bursted out laughing when you recommended people to play Mass Effect 3 before the 2 first games in the series. That's in my opinion a Terrible idea. Mass Effect 1 gives you allot of context to the world, and Mass Effect 2 is one of the best written RPGs ever made. The third game concludes the story, that begins in the first game, and is in my opinion, the worst of the trilogy. Also Mass Effect 1 came out the year after Oblivion, another game you recommended. And I think it is a much more modern game, in terms of mechanics, than Oblivion is. Plus there's the whole Savefile transfer between all the Mass Effect games, that will give you the best experience overall.

    • @ParisAbyssus
      @ParisAbyssus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      While all of that may be true, the combat in 1 and 2 that game is very very bad and I only recommended it if you couldn’t get through 1 on your first try, like I did. Story wise obviously start with 1, but I don’t really think it is needed to enjoy 3. Bethesda games get a pass because they will always be half a decade behind anyways. Not that they have many continuing storylines, but I would do the same and suggest Skyrim first. My point was that you should find whichever game in a series will actually hook you in and then play the rest. Like the only reason I’m playing daggerfall, a game I wouldn’t even consider in any other circumstance, is because I ran out of Elder scrolls games to play.

    • @christiankaiser3885
      @christiankaiser3885 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ParisAbyssus I dont really see why "Bethesda get a pass". I get that the type of interaction you get in their games are limited to them, but saying that they get a pass because their games are behind the curve anyway, is more a reason not to play them. I love Bethesda games btw. But they can be hard to recommend because of the jankiness and weirdness, that they all have. Rather than letting them get away with it, I would want to see them improve instead. I haven't played Starfield, because to me, from what I have seen, they haven't learned much since Fallout 4. I think it looks like they might have regressed a little bit. If you play Mass Effect on Console, then yeah, the combat is weird and unintuative. But on PC, the Powers are alot easier to use, and the Gunplay is smooth. So I would recommend playing Mass Effect 1 and 2 atleast, on PC. And the games are so old now, that most PCs can run them fine. I tried starting up a New game of Mass Effect 3, without an imported savefile. The game was very different from my earlier playthroughs. Conversations were more limited, many NPC stories just sorta happened, without much I could do, and the whole experience was rather subpar, compaired to how I remembered it.

    • @ParisAbyssus
      @ParisAbyssus 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@christiankaiser3885 I suppose the better sentence would have been "I am heavily biased" instead of "they get a pass". I'll replay the Mass Effect games soon enough. Maybe four years later and with more critical thinking I will enjoy them in the correct order.

    Outstanding mate! Best critique of Starfield I have heard yet, and I've watched at least 10 to 15 of these. I've played every Bethesda game (especially NV, FO3 and FO4). I kinda always knew they were empty, pointless and mindlessly juvenile, and how white-bread, hollow and stupid the main stories are; specifically in Fallout 4. That being said, the game still possessed just enough strangeness and sci-fi apocalypse character to keep me interested and exploring all the little nooks and crannies. And I did like meeting all the odd (but shallow and pointless) NPCs. ( But I would always restart the game before finishing the main story quest). Overall it held my interest enough for me commit 100s of hrs playtime. Plus 100s of hours playing all the other fallouts after #3, and Skyrim too. I want to thank you for explaining in perfect detail why fallout 4 sucked ass. As I was watching and rewatching your well made presentation, it dawned on me that I could basically plug in fallout 4 stories , themes, main characters and overall scenarios into all of your analysis and critiques, and you were basically describing why fallout 4 gobbled donkey balls. I haven't had the urge to play any Bethesda game in many years. I skipped FO76 and will not be giving Microsoft any money to DL Starfield. I sit back and watch all the Starfield review videos and have a warm glow inside knowing that at least one public facing corporation is having to hear from people they crap on regularly. Maybe just maybe, someone in Bethesda/Microsoft (and I wish most other corporations) will catch a hint as to how we feel about the catastrophicly shitty products and services they offer. I disagree about suggesting that first two mass effects are hard to get into(unless you're a baby or something). If you gonna play it - you have to start with the first one or everything else won't have the same narrative impact. You won't care about those awesome followers as much and won't have personal history with them. Otherwise a great video! Appreciate using lots of Oblivion soundtrack😄 Edit: Also about robot saying your name - Codsworsth in Fallout 4 says many names including some obscenities. Fallout 4 has the best bethesda companions imo. They use animation markers, react to your actions and the world and are better fleshed out than Starfield ones. I think they started evolving their companions with Serana in Skyrim, got better in fallout 4 and then went completely stale and lazy in Starfield

As for Skyrim and Fallout 4, I played them for hundreds of hours and had a good enough time with it, certainly I don't regret buying or playing them... but Fallout 4 definitely made me wary of pre-ordering future Bethesda games - which is what saved me from the 76 debacle and why I'm still waiting for Starfield to go on sale before I buy it.

    Great video. I appreciate your presentation and methodology. You also have a nice speaking voice, it has a pleasant quality to it. I hope to see much more from you.

    Interesting video but if I can point out one thing it would be this. The background music is sometimes significantly louder than your voice. In addition, the tone of your voice is quite monotonous, which makes listening boring and difficult

      Good for insomnia, though. Very calming.

    Great analysis! I have over 400 hours in Starfield, but most of it was time spent in the ship editor. Only feature I really like. The rest is abysmal. Before the game released I fantasized about a game that doesn't really have one of Bethesdas boring main quests and instead concentrates on lore and worldbuilding - something they are really good at, even in Fallout 76. But as you said, the game lore is wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle. And this is something I just can't stomach anymore. Bethesda is finished for me.

    I'm about to blow your mind: There is no side quest where you bring Sam's daughter books. She has dialog asking for books, yes. But there is no quest, there is no interaction, and there is no way to actually give her a book. You misremembered that, maybe confusing it with a different quest where you bring a kid on Mars some comic books. Or maybe you assumed there was a quest there based on the voice lines. But I assure you, it doesn't exist. Probably cut content. The missing book quest is a bit of a controversy among Starfield fans.

      You’re right that was two separate children! Does this happen to be one of the many children that look exactly the same as her? Nice catch. I’ll have to figure out how to overlay a correction or something like that.

      @@twischta I can't convince a person who hates FPP, but the parkour and the mantling is just so so smooth in Cyberpunk. I was a die-hard TPP player. I played Skyrim TPP, I even modded other games so I could see my pretty characters. But even though TBH it irks me that I can only really enjoy my carefully arranged fashion ensembles/battle gear while on a motorcycle or using photo mode, the way V moves and the combat really makes up for it, and will eventually even feel natural.

      True the nightcity is from another dimension. But the gameplay in Cyberpunk is fucking shallow garbage for me. And not to mention main quest where all you do is just sit on a vhair and listening to people talk at you. Cyberpunk is crap.
