313 Poly, Test fit of the mystery manifold.
I had the 4-barrel power pak soaking in Evapo-rust for 6 days as it was filthy and rusty, the Power Pak manifold is from a 1958 Plymouth 318 Poly i think! part number is 1828103 a friend got it with a 58 Plymouth he imported into Australia a long time ago, and he gave it to me back in 2019. I called it the mystery manifold because i did not know what year it was from and after watching a TH-cam video on a 1958 Plymouth Suburban wagon where the owner took off the factory 4-barrel manifold on a seized engine and the part number was clearly visible so i was able to deduce that my manifold is also from 1958, in 1957 and 1958 Plymouth called the 4-barrel a "POWER PAK" and the 2x4 barrel was called a "V-800 SUPER-PAK". There are other 4-barrel Poly manifolds with different part numbers from different years also anyway I am using it due to having some fitting issues with the Edelbrock tri-carb set up. The rust remover sure stripped off most of the surface rust but due to how filthy the manifold was i will soak it again in fresh rust remover again before i paint the manifold, i am taking a leap of faith and assuming that by changing the heads back to 313 heads that the water in the oil issue will have been solved because if that has not worked i will not be impressed and will then remove the 313 and use a different poly.

Update on the 313 Poly and a mystery manifold !
มุมมอง 7114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Taking way longer than we thought it would but some progress has been made as the passenger side 313 head is back on and the driver's side 318 head is off, just need to clean the block face and with a new Fel-Pro head gasket install the 313 drivers side head. The 318 heads differ from the 313 heads and more than likely were the cause of water in the oil so we will have to wait a few more weeks ...
Have we found the cause of water in the oil in 313 poly.
มุมมอง 25921 วันที่ผ่านมา
So once the head was removed, we could see that lots of water had pushed its way under the head gasket, and after comparing the 318-poly head once it was removed with a 313-poly head, we found some differences. Are these changes what caused the water to get into the oil! i say probably more than likely. An old guy recently let us know that putting 318 heads on a 313 will cause water leaks. Most...
HOW TO REPLACE A 313 or 318 POLY VALVE STEM SEAL!
มุมมอง 22หลายเดือนก่อน
I am not a mechanic just someone who does not want to pay another person for what i should be able to do myself, this is the third valve stem seal i have ever replaced and it is a little frustrating but it is not hard to do, just have patience and keep trying until you succeed, the trick is to lube it up well days before and tap the top of the spring multiple times with a hammer to loosen the s...
Chrysler 313 poly Water in the oil, time to find out where its coming from.
มุมมอง 57หลายเดือนก่อน
Second attempt now to find how and where the water is getting into the oil, had a mechanic replace the intake and front drive gaskets and that worked for a week so now it's off with the heads to check the head gaskets and the heads, hopefully it's just a blown through head gasket, the engine is a really good runner and causes no problems, other than water in the oil so hope we can save it but i...
A Stetson Fedora hat for when i drive my 1957 Plymouth.

OK so i like 50s cars and Fedora hats, so i got a Stetson to wear when i drive my 57 Plymouth and it feels proper, you know feels like its 1957 still even though i wasn't born until 1962! Watch a movie from the late 50s or early 60s and most people wore hats and mostly Fedora hats, today its baseball caps and beanies but i think the Fedora hat has a bit more style !

A test drive in my USA made 1957 Plymouth to test the Stewart Warner police 150 MPH speedometer.

Had 2 short speedometer cables made and fitted one to finally test the police speedometer, it works but not sure if it is accurate or if the factory 150 MPH speedometer is accurate, the GPS speedometer is the main one i look at as I drive but it's cool to have both 150 mph gauges working. I have owned this car for 34 years and have been driving and maintaining it all these years, it has been th...

The sound of a 313 poly v8 with dual mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust pipes that were made in Australia, 2'' to mufflers then 2 1/4 to rear bumper. Mufflers are flow monster single chamber purchased from the USA. The 313 poly engines were all sourced from Canada by Chrysler Australia back in the day.

Short clip of the v8 sound from the Australian made 1957/58 Chrysler, dual 2'' into dual 2 1/4 exhaust, the tires were made in China just in case anyone needs to know, and the taillight bulbs were made in China, the air in the tires is pure Australian air.
