Question mine is leaking but i cant feel no air around it. I'm assuming it's internal.? Maybe a gasket?
@@patrickgrade3365 hmmm....there's not many seals, and only 1 gasket. Probably O-rings on the piston. I got a new one on Amazon not expensive
@@OldCrowsClassicCars I forgot to mention only leaks when I flip the button to the high side. Can you send me the link or part number for that order you got on Amazon. Thanks for your time.
@@patrickgrade3365 air is only applied when you hit the button....I mention than on the videos....there's more videos on the channel if you want to really understand how it works. You should be able to find the valve by typing "A5000 valve" on Amazon. If that doesn't work let me know
@@OldCrowsClassicCars thanks my dude
@@patrickgrade3365 no problem man. If you don't find it, let me know and I'll try to get you the order.
How much psi do you need to run this ?
That rotary bevel you mentioned talking about the mainshaft is actually the speedometer drive gear for transmissions that didn't have the add-on overdrive

Can you make a split rear diff lock? As in add lockers to the rear diff even with it being a split rear end
So it would spin both axles permanently?....the same as in when people weld differerntials...is that what you're talking about? Or something more advanced such as having that system, but still be able to switch back to normal? I know there are trucks that have lockeable axles/differentials....and I even saw 4x4 truck axles when I was at the scrapyard.....but these are not common. Anything can be done, but Alot of fabrication and cost
What are the measurements for the valve lash?
Darn, I don't know. Don't have the manual for it now...but I did before...I recall spending a while on google searching until I found it...but I didn't adjust the valves on mine
I would think it would be the same as for cars
Yaniel
I’m about to do the same, what did you use to thin out the paint?
I used paint thinner from Home Depot or Canadian Tire. I also experimented with Varsol, Laquer thinner and Acetone....all worked. But I still used a big diameter nozzle on the paint gun, biggest I could find on ebay, I think it was a 2.5mm. I also used paint hardener from NAPA to make the paint dry fast....otherwise it takes days.
Thank you so much you saved me time and money because I was trying to use it exhaust leak but when I saw your video I decided to go to different product maybe jb weld exhaust pasta,
@@WorldRandomVideos glad it helped
What is R10?
@@stevejanejamesjassteph5903 R10 refers to the Overdrive and its housing. I have the R10-B. R11 had 4 planetary gears. R9 was an older Overdrive
@@stevejanejamesjassteph5903 R10 came attached to the T96 transmission and a few others as well....T86 if I'm not mistaken
Don't use this stuff on manual transmissions!!
Why not?
So I cranked mine 1 too many times an it no longer cranks what went bad?
Hmmm....usually if that happens you just drained the battery. If the battery is good, connections are good then starter is burnt....sometimes it has a bad spot
@@OldCrowsClassicCars it slowly turned when I hit the button anyway I could set ya some videos of mine.
@@Landon2islands If the battery was well charged, connections are good and starter turns slowly, then the starter is the problem (unless there is some internal seizure of the engine). Sometimes you can remove the back plate of the starter and clean the rotor contacts (where the brushes slide over). But usually, you need to replace the starter

How hard should it be to move the pistons by hand. I have to use a hammer and a board
That's not good. It shouldn't be that hard. Open the cylinder, clean it and then dump oil and then try to move it. I always avoid trying to beat pistons without cleaning first because if there's crap in the cylinder it will scratch the cylinder walls as you move it
Have you ever looked at a MoPar wiring diagram from the 40s. They all show the F terminal in back and A terminal in front. But it is the reverse of that!
Yes I have the manual for the DeSoto....and you're correct, the diagrams are usually not accurate, just for illustration
Does shaft angle matter when reinstalling shaft into housing?
Not really because it will only go in 1 way
I used it to confirm a crack where the pipe meets the flange was the only leak and it worked as a temporary fix for a few weeks. Just apply it properly.
Yes, it's definetely a temporary fix. Herd JB weld works better
Two different trucks.
I took dang thing off an threw it away, put a shift lever with rod to axle.. worked for yrs. Never failed.
Nice improvement! I ended up making a pneumatic unit and used a hydraulic 3-way valve to operate the unit. As I sometimes say, mechanical is always better and more reliable than electrical if built right.
thank you
Glad it was useful to you. Thanks for your support
Preciso de um profissional aqui para um Thunderbird 1966 .

The camera's too far away from the part you're working on, you're the only one close enough to see what you're doing, I don't need to see the entire table I just need to see the park and try to explain what you're doing, in detail would be ideal.
perhaps you need some glasses 🤭 Perhaps eventually I'll be able to get a cameraman
so random but so necessary today for me. thank you. fixed the spin wheel on a shopping cart. few weeks later wheel was coming loose. slide washer between cart and bolt...voila. weight distribution.
Glad it was useful to you!
Apply power and plunger engages the solenoid. Disconnect power and solenoid staying on like if it’s getting latched. But this is not a latching solenoid. Thanks
How did you get the solenoid not to stay stuck on?
There are 2 coils: pull-in coil and hold-in coil. They act against the force of a spring
How good did that paint hold up. Rumor has it, that no paint will hold up on exhaust, lol. I have a can of bbq pit black paint. And I think I'm going to go ahead and paint my manifolds. but I'm curious on how those turned out after getting hot.
It's actually help up and look intact! I will do another review video when I can. I would stay away from the ones that need baking...never worked for me
what about the manual ones i have a 1953 MGTD and that has electrically converted wipers or there is a lever on them you can manually move the wipers to Swipe the windsheild in both directions i will note on Antique British Cars they mostly used Virgin Rubber Seals and parts on their Vehicles and that did not hold up well to the elements or Petroleum products so they were prone to failure for Hydraulic Systems you need to use a Vegetable based Hydraulic Oil or the seals will just fail very quickly within a day or two ! Some British cars used that untill the 1980s
Thanks for the info! I love british cars....almost bought a vauxhall cresta once.
I have a 1949 willys jeepster with this same t96 transmission and I'm trying to find videos and resources to help me fix or teach me how to rebuild them, I'm curious how one can come across that manual you showcased In this video?
Well, I have a pretty extensive and boring (but complete) series on rebuilding this transmission. The manual is part of the "1963 Rambler American owner's manual". Although it's reasonably straight forward to disassemble this transmission. I didn't use the manual.
Let me know if you need help
What size air hose do you use?
1/2 minimum
Nice car! This was filmed in Canada right?
Thanks!

Bending the tab is correct procedure. 😊
Yes! Thank you!
I'm sure there's not much difference, but is it pretty much the same for an eaton 9 speed? split, not straight. 1985 S2500
Yes, most if not all the Eaton transmissions have a top plate shifter that can be removed
What a happy video your video reminded me of how TH-cam used to be I subscribed
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. And yes, I remember how youtube used to be before...when there were no adds, and I also remember the sound of the dial up internet connection.
Hi don't know what his doing
The windows would only go down, and not up. Turns out somebody had put the coil springs in the wrong way....I was diagnosing this issue, as well as the adjustment.
what a bunch of gobbeldeegook! lots of words but you explained NOTHING!! UGH
Just got a replacement fender for my '70 Lesabre. Was apalled in learning that te hood has to be removed. That fucking thing only weighs 80 tons 😅 Ive been driving it with fender damage and the signal lights zip tied to front brace because i also have a new grille to install. So it looks like crap but damn it still drives beautifully. That Buick 350 is invincible.
Hey! Yes, I remember removing the hood...got 4 guys to do it! I think earlier models had the hood seperate....the earlier you go in time, the more design fuck ups there were. But uh ya, a great car, and that big V8 is awesome! A very smooth a comfortable car for sure.
I bet this car has vacuum wipers
You are correct !! But it has a vacuum booster/pump
@@OldCrowsClassicCars My '40 Buick had the same thing. The fuel pump had a vacuum booster for the wipers, but I replaced it with electric wipers anyway.
Did you just buy a direct replacement electric wiper motor kit, or did you have to adapt? I quite enjoy the vacuum wipers to be honest though....I actually have it direct vacumm with no pump at the moment lol...just like 30s cars
I started driving in high school in 1971 when there were still a lot of these around. A friend had one of these, though a two door. Dead reliable, he and I could work on it, comfortable with 3 speed and overdrive. I'd enjoy one now.
Thanks for sharing your story!! I always enjoy that. Ya, they're very reliable when taken care of. 2 door must have been nice!! I have overdrive in mine and it's awesome.
Hey man Im kind of new to cars and I was wondering about the fuses in the box. Could I buy some from autozone or would I have to order those specific ones online? Kind of confused on how the fuses work
Hey. So 1st thing a fuse is basically just a simple wire ( in fact I've replaced/bypassed a fuse that way in certain ocasions). Difference being that the fuse is thinner so that it breaks in the event of excessive current thereby interrupting the current
Now, in the case of this Tbird, it uses the little cylindrical glass fuses readily available on autozone, Amazon and rockauto and most any small hardware store These types are generic and used on many applications from cars to circuit boards.....in fact you could even snatch one from a microwave if you had to.
Helpful video, thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Nice, i have a 1989 f600 chassis with a blue bird bus body, it has a 3 speed auto trans and i assume a 2 speed rear diff. I think my rear diff either isnt shifting, or is shifting improperly, any idea why that would happen?
I don't know much about that truck, although I've seen it before, and I actually almost bought it instead of the IH. The shifting of the 2-speed axle is done by the actuator/shifter on the differential. I've actually converted mine to pneumatic, but they're usually electric....and I think that's probably what you have on your truck. It's shifted by a switch on the shifter stick. In that case, possible causes would be the switch, wiring, or contact points on the unit.
Hey, how are you? Do you know the head torque sequence and torque needed? Thank you, I can't find information.
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I don't remember it exactly, but I do know you start from the middle and then alternate outwards. It would be similar to any other flathead. When torquing, just remember to torque in stages....to be safe. I don't know if you still need help, but you could also get the owner's manual on CD for rockauto
@@OldCrowsClassicCars thank you
