2001 Honda Shadow vt600cd HELP! Bogging during acceleration.
Only things I haven't touched on the carb is the pilot screw and checked the choke if it was stuck or not. Not sure if that would cause my issue.
FYI The carburetor is discontinued so you can only buy parts or I'd just buy a new carb at this point.
Any thoughts on diagnosing?

I was killing in the jet and everyone started to bail once I got any damage on the vehicles. Even after they bail they weren't safe.

    Hi…Did you figure out the issue you were having on your vt600. Mine is doing same thing…idles fine and runs better when choked but hesitates bogs then dies if too much throttle. Any luck?

    Put stock air box. Too much air can be bad or too rich

    I have an update for everybody. I wish I could say I had a fix for anybody who's having this issue but I don't. I went to the entire fuel system, I cleaned the carburetor twice everything checks out. I've been able to ride it this year it's running fine every once in a while it does sputter coming out of first gear from a dead stop, I give it a little bit of extra throttle and she perks right back up. I did find that I do have a half stripped screw where the air filter box is so I have a tiny air leak there that might be causing the issue other than that I don't know what to do to fix it permanently. I'm guessing the bike is tuned for a certain amount of air flow going into the carburetor so having the air filter and box off might have been exasperating the issue. My only fix is let the bike warm up for 10 minutes before riding, it's an old bike with an old carb and that has helped me. Put premium gas in it if you want, The manual states 86 or higher. Buy yourself a mini tachometer and make sure you guys set the idle speed correctly at 1200. Hope this helps you guys.

      I have that issue with my 2007 vt600cd . If I turn it on idling it stays on and sounds really good. If i accelerate slowly it runs well. If I give it some throttle it bogs down. especially on third and 4 gear. Can you tell me if the 2007 also can take premium fuels? I have not been able to find if it's okay to use higher premium fuels.

    I have a vt600c. Almost same problem since today, if i accelarate slowly i have almost no issues. If i blip the throttle it backfires and dies if i dont let go fast enough...

      Could it be that the choke plunger has some severe vacuum leak? My choke hissing way too loud when I pulled it out.

      @wichtt7994 the choke allows extra fuel in when pulled out. Mine makes a hissing sound too. Warmer weather will allow you to start the bike with no choke sometimes. I pulled my plunger out and the left side, which fed to my rear cylinder, was 1/16th shorter than the right side. Basically it was slightly open...open enough to allow fuel to dump in and misfire ny rear cylinder when it got nice and warmed up...but closed enough to where it would idle just fine...blip the throttle and it would almost die. Next morning when all was cool, it would start and idle great, once warmed up, misfire

    Had a similar issue. All I did was increase the Pilot and main jet and some minor tweaks w the F/A screw. Try adjusting the F/A screw first.

    My young son bought a 200cc phantom single cylinder.Same symptoms as yours but the fuel float was hanging open and flooding the engine.By chance after taking off the float bowl with fuel in it to check if the float was hung open and the needle was still in place I lifted the bowl into position with the fuel in it and presto problem fixed itself. I think the overflow tube was holding the float open causing the flooding.

    what was the issue? mine dies when i release the clutch. But if i pull choke alittle out it doesn't die when i release clutch..

      I'm not sure what the issue was. I went through the entire fuel delivery system and it fixed it somewhere. I pulled the gas tank, took out the filter and cleaned it, put a gallon of fresh fuel in with sea foam and let it sit for a few days. Took apart and cleaned the diaphragm valve in the left side. Used a vacuum pump on the discharge side of the diaphragm before the carb and had fuel flow. Then I rebuilt the carb and cleaned the crap out of it. I put new plugs in and I adjusted the idle speed. Somewhere along the line it fixed it but I'm not sure where because I found no issue going through those steps.

    You are running rich. Start without airbox and cold is a tell tale. This carb looks awfully similar to the 750 single carb. I also had the same problem. I did exactly what you did. Boggs down if you hard accelerate it, plus are supper black at WOT. I couldn't figure out what is wrong at the time but got a used oem carb from ebay and will try that. If i had more time i would for sure look at the float valve as this is the last thing i did not change and just decided to go straight for a used carb.

    I was having the exact same issue as you and I did all of those things too. Your issue is the accelerator pump is blocked still either through one of the passage ways or like in my case right at the nozzle where it sprays. When I finally got something in there and cleaned it out the accelerator pumps works like how it should

    Check your air filter. If it’s not getting a good seal, it’s going to suck in raw air throwing off the gas to air ratio

    Had the exact same problem on my Honda shadow 750 ran through same steps even re sealed the tank wound up being the vacume seal on the carburetor sucking in air causing a bad fuel air mix you can buy a vacuum kit online

      Bought a new carb for the bike ran perfect after about 75 bucks on Amazon, but they tend to have more problems, so if you got the cash, I would buy the one from Honda itself.

    Could be a bad accelerator pump. I don’t see any fuel coming from there when you twist the throttle.

      Yeah I went through the entire fuel system from tank to carb and finally got fuel flow. Long process but she's running now, just in time to store for winter sadly lol.

    I went through the entire fuel system from tank to carb and got fuel flow from the accelerator pump. I cleaned the entire carb too and still having this issue. I think it's the choke now

    Could be the accelerator pump not spraying fuel out of that brass jet at the bottom of the carb barrel. The accelerator pump itself is what's connected to that rubber 'spring' to the right of the carb barrel. If the small rubber diaphragm or O-rings inside are cracked or in any other way damaged, then it will not create a vacuum to push fuel through that previously mentioned jet. Mine also just started doing this. Need those o-rings and a fresh diaphragm. Mine is a TJ Brutal Customs build. Hardtail VT600CD Deluelxe. Interesting note: If you're running a velocity stack (trumpet intake), the carbs become much more finicky to tune. Threw a slightly more restrictive intake on the thing from one of those 80cc 2 stroke 'racing' carburetors and it behaved a bit better. 😂

    What if you do a run and dont get the kill, whats a good maneuver to turn around and still have a good angle and dont lose sight of the target?

      Been a long time but. Climb and free look back using your rudder and flaps to get in a position to strafe them. Get comfortable with your attack angle, too steep and it's harder to hit them accurately, too low you risk getting hit.

      You can try hammerhead maneuver, with pitch around 60-70 deg + freelook.

    Hi #AtariSbetter how and were did you learn to fly the jets like this in general gameplay or test range I ask as I'm very very new to the battlefield having never had any computer in my life and really wanting to learn to fly like this how should I go about learning thanks

      I learned by doing mostly, but I did comp dogfights to help with maneuvers and staying alive.

    Thanks man. Helicopter tip helped me out. Me and my mate have trouble taking out littlebirds filled with stingers and repairs that stay high in the sky. Now they are no threat. By the way does Xbox have the freelook feature. So you can look around while dogfighting?

    Also got a tip for lancang. If you wanna take out an aa at their base. Go through behind the dam wall. GO around the mountain and it takes you behind their spawn.

    You see, I pull up my minimap all the time. In hardcore if your not using a silencer and your shooting, a red dot will show up on my minimap, leading you all to believe that I hack by knowing where you are. Its simply a matter of multitasking in many different ways to find your opponents.
