Today, I encountered the same issue with my Mercedes CLS. It was in for its annual service and MOT, as it has been every year since I bought it brand new. Everything went smoothly, except for an advisory note highlighting corrosion on the rear subframe. They quoted around £3,500 to fix it, but fortunately, Mercedes is covering the full cost, as it’s a known issue on certain models.

All Mercedes-Benz showrooms are now Francise.. they try to make as much money as possible. So best thing to do is speak to head office to get passed their BS

I just completed the replacement of the passenger side turbo. It was still a pain but your video helped me immensely. I wouldnt mind doing it again but the driver side looks like a nightmare. If anyone is wondering the oil feed pipe bolt is a t50 torx bit. You will also need multiple spanners: flex head ratchet, short, long, medium.

I don't suppose you remember how many bolts were around the bell housing do you? I can't see anymore, I've got a very slight gap but the thing still isn't splitting... I can't fully get the one behind the cat or behind the exhaust flexi out. I've loosened them as much as I can in the hope that they're only threaded into the engine side now but the thing just refuses to budge! Cheers in advance 😊

Hi - greatly appreciate your efforts in making this video. I just removed and reinstalled the secondary turbo bypass in order to clean and lubricate the compressor shut off valve in hope that it would resolve Red restricted performance warning - but although worthwhile for opportunity to give it all a good clean, the RP returned immediately after hitting 2800 rpm under load. Spray foamed DPF while there which also worthwhile and definitely improves performance. I’m considering buying new CSOV but hoping it may be wrongly connected breather hose - which may have happened while replacing throttle body and seals etc around that area. Thank you especially for the section covered between 25 and 30 mins in - I was watching under my 3.0 XF around 11pm on the street while raining and getting pretty dark😂- considering, direct and in easily understood language. Thank you sir😊

Having just finished replacing the clutch on my 207, I would highly recommend putting a couple of 2 x 4/CLS timbers across your wings and wrapping a ratchet strap around the gearbox and the CLS timbers, supporting it. That way, you do not have to struggle lifting the gearbox back on again.

I've just been quoted a thousand pounds for this job because it takes 11 1/2 hours and they have to remove the subframe😮😮😮 Not looking forward to doing it myself, thanks for the pointers.

Is it a modified intercooler turbo feed pipe or a modified oil feed pipe that needs replacing

same problem on my c220 on an 08 plate when it went for a recall on airbags. merc main dealer said they would replace the subframe for free......booked in for next week......sorted.

Mercedes won’t replace the frame because I already temp repaired (welded) at a local garage. I didn’t know at the time that Mercedes would replace it for free, I was able to drive the car very carefully so I had to temp repair it somehow and now Mercedes won’t help me out Ps; I live in the Netherlands

Mine broke the other day, snapped so the suspension arm needs replacing too, ordered both off ebay, £350 in total and another £500 for the garage to fit, mercedes said they might change it for free but cannot guarantee it, this is after I ordered the parts, fuming!!!!

I got 1.4 just replaced coil pack HTC leads still got that misfire and pop unsure what to do next as just replaced wishbone now struts in front have to be replaced as bottom rubbers are clunking as put it in garage doing bit by bit

Hi, Do any one have experience with W203? My C-class 2007 C180 with 177miles on clock (been serviced at MB till 156 miles and the rest in other garage all with invoices), been on inspection at MB in UK this week (dec/2023) and they find that subframe need replacing but they told me that they not going to do by free because they not doing W203. Have been told that they doing W212 and W204 but not W203. Sound a bit ridiculous for rotten inside out. If any one can help or got idea, then please let me know. Thanks.

I followed the advise and drove the car to MB dealership, they inspected and said they will replace subframe for free but need to pay upto £300 for nut bolts, screws etc required to fix - Makes no sense. I have raised a complaint with MB customer service. In the meantime, no courtesy car, so I have no car in my household now 😢 I have raised this as a safety concern with DVLA and we all should do that. How long in total did it take to remove the drivers side turbo?

Good stuff, you forgot to put the rubber grommet that sits in the firewall in. That causes the master cylinder to now rub against the firewall and we can hear that metal like squeak every time you depress the clutch. Hopefully you took care of it.
