    I’m one of those ball python breeders. I absolutely love the species! It’s my favorite snake species. I’m one of few, that works with these animals because I love them and think they are amazing. I am a hobbyist for sure. And I completely agree with you…we are making way too many! I haven’t paired any of my beautiful ball pythons for two years now…most of my collection I produced myself. My snake room is my Zen Garden…I also have a few bull snakes. But I share your concerns about the ball pythons. I love these little pythons! They are amazing!

      @@coachsroyalreptiles thank you so much for sharing that- and I really appreciate that you are doing it out of love and with respect. I wish people like you were the only ones breeding them. It would solve a lot of problems- and it would drive prices up, which I also think is a good thing… for the breeders (who could afford to keep them more ethically), and to keep them from being such a “throw-away” species that is often kept improperly. ❤️

      @@Snake_Therapy I’ve been in the ball python hobby for 11 years. I’ve seen a lot of ugly! But there are more like me! And that’s encouraging. I kept colubrids in the 90’s as well. I have kept ball pythons in every type of enclosure. From tanks to Vision Cages as large as 332’s. And through 11 years of keeping, to my chagrin they do best in racks! They thrive! They eat better, and they live better. I know, I don’t like it either. But we have to listen to our animals…

    • @Snake_Therapy
      @Snake_Therapy 4 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      mmm. There we shall have to agree to disagree. They may eat better, but quality of life ("living better")? I just can't see that. No creature "thrives" in a dark hole it's entire life (barring a few species that live underground- like sunbeam snakes and such). Eating/breeding does not equal thriving. I've seen too many BPs basking under UVB, climbing, eating just fine in large, enriched enclosures to believe otherwise. They don't, in fact, live in holes exclusively in nature. It's obvious you love your animals, so I'm not attacking you- I just can't agree with that method/viewpoint, personally.

    My experience with woma python's is that they are not at all aggressive or defensive. I think they are best described as hungry hungry hungry. So, you just have to be careful when handling that they aren't starting think your thumb or, in one case, shirt sleeve is something to eat. Otherwise, wonderful animal to own. On the issue of hybrids...not my cup of tea but I don't see anything wrong with it.

      Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts and experience! And yep, food motivation is different than defensiveness (snakes are never aggressive 😉), and knowing what to look for is key! I've since learned a bit more about hybridization from Reptiles and Research, and my mind is more open to it- as long as the species are very similar to each other.

    • @Snake_Therapy
      @Snake_Therapy 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Actually... according to a Google Search, it's native to Southeast Asia, India, Sri Lanka, and the Indo-Australian islands. So not technically mainland Australia but the Solomons. (I would never trust a movie like Crocodile Dundee for information about animals, but it was close!) 😂 Thanks for pointing out that she was wrong, though!

      @@Snake_TherapyNo, I was completely wrong. The movie where I saw the scene of that person (a woman to be precise) killing an elephant trunk snake with a bite to the neck, was an old documentary about snakes from the 90s and since I remembered the face of that woman and she had the features of the Australian aborigines, I connected it to the movie Crocodile. However, I am Italian, I have a Suriname boa and a ball python (which we call Royal P. here). I watch your videos. They are very beautiful and instructive. @@emmalou9067 congratulations! On both the new family member, and on your journey of empowerment in getting over your fear!! You should be commended for that. And I hope you have a wonderful experience and come to fall in love with them as you get to know him/her and see how they affect your child’s world. Lots of vids and community here on this channel about that. So glad you’re here!

    This is the best reptile room tour I've seen yet. Seriously! Very thorough and informative. Going to check out inaturalist and weather spark( is that correct?) Happy New Year wishing you an even better 2025!

      wow, that's a HUGE compliment coming from you!! what an honor, thank you. and YES, inaturalist is such an amazing resource, and weatherspark.com is really helpful. The only trick is that it mostly has weather data from cities/towns, which are, although *close* to where the sightings of the animals are, are not necessarily going to be the same temps/humidity. but they definitely help give insight, and sometimes you can get bang on to where the animal was seen. happy new year! thank you so much for watching!

    What a difference in the way and time it seemed to take building this enclosure compared to the 5’. I’m Super excited to get to the carving and painting part of my BP’s new 4x2x2. After watching your more recent vids where you use the Apoxie clay it looks like I’ve got a new element to add for my buildout. Thanks Shrizz ❤

      Not sure which you're referencing- I haven't done a 5'... the first one I did was TEN feet! :) but yes, I'm getting things down a little better, although the 4' I'm currently working on is taking a while just because I am being super detailed. But I'm so glad it can help you (my mistakes can help you avoid the same!) and I can't wait to see your finished product!

    What topsoil did you use? I’m very encouraged to try adding to my danger noodle’s substrate. I’m currently in the process of upgrading his enclosure from a 36” to a 48” with full back and sides buildout. Pics and vids to follow. ❤️🐍🏡

      It's a soil made from different mosses and carbon sand, I believe. Usually used for tarantula or amphibian enclosures. I get mine usually from a local store that makes their own, but you can find similar types from Josh's frogs or various other good reptile companies.
