Great video and I love the Ultra Marine iPhone 16 Plus, which I swapped for the 16 Pro a few months back and still regret it haha. The Fusion camera on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus is great for filming and photo work like you say. I think the M4 has changed everything from what I have found as well.

I just got one from OWC for $169.00, and I love it. I used Open Core Legacy patch to put Sequoia on it, and it runs like a champ. I have it right next to my new M4 Mac mini, and my Mac Studio M1 Max. Mac heaven! This is a great computer, not what you expect when you read all the crap reviews online, It is just great!

I just got a 13,3" MacBook Pro with 3,1Ghz i7, 16GB and 512GB SSD in very nice shape with 433 batt cycli for €150 incl. shipping. Going to be my throw in the backpack vacation Mac.

I just bought one for $200 and the cpu and ram has been upgraded.

I've had one since 2016 - 8GB and 250GB. It's been fine and even managed a complex 3D animation in Blender (took all night!). Am upgrading to 2TB NVME ssd as the hdd has filled up. Its for the grandkids now so they can learn to type and make pictures in simple paint apps. Great little laptop.

I still have my 1st gen ipad 64GB + 3G. I still use it to play audio books and to watch movies with the HDMI dongel good for when you go on holiday

Got my wife the MacBook Pro with M3 Pro Chip for her Business (she's a Photographer) including a HighEnd Benq Monitor in early 2023. This Laptop is such a BEAST when it comes to Lightroom and stuff. Didn't regret it one sec.

Do not update this computer to Catalina. It won't work. It goes slow as a turtle plus why would you do that to yourself? You want to be able to play 32-bit games? I have over 40 downloading games that I play perfectly on this machine. I use it everyday. This machine is great. Just do not update the Catalina no matter what you do

Thanks Ash great comparison and really informative. I bought a macbook Air m3 about a year ago and I was so glad I went for the 16gb as like you say it makes a world of difference for multi-tasking! I can actually video edit on premier pro on the air with the increased ram but we do get thermal throttling another story!

Watching this video with a 11" MacBook Air 2014. To be honest, it runs like a charm. Like you said, BigSur is pretty solid, apps open super fast, Safari loads all pages perfectly and quickly, and it's a really cute device that fits in any backpack. I wish Apple would bring back 11-inch Macs.

Great review! Is this Docking Station Thunderbolt 5? The new Macbook Pro are coming out with Thunderbolt 5, and Caldigit just teased with TS5, and the new Elements Hub all with Thunderbolt 5. Pretty sure we will be seeing many Thunderbolt 5 Hubs, and Docking Stations, soon.. If you are just thinking of buying a Docking Station, or a Hub now, a Thunderbolt 5 version could be future proof..

Hi ! I just bought my M4 iPad Pro 1TB with wifi plus cellular and I have bought the 2 Generation Apple keyboard on Nov 2024. One question is that do I need to go for the Additional apple care for another 2 years for the Apple Ipad Pro and keyboard ??? Kindly please advise I upgraded my IPad Pro M1 from 2021 which I use for past 4 years ago without additional apple care ? Hope to hear from you soon thanks

I have 2 other questions for you; 1- Do you keep your Docking Station CONNECTED, when you are updating your MacOS? Or do you DISCONNECT it before the MacOS update, and then reconnect it after the update? Why/Why not? 2- Do you connect to internet thru CallDigit's 2.5 gigabit Ethernet port? Or do you connect to internet separately? How does CallDigit Docking Station's Ethernet Port perform? Any performance issues? Thank you very much in advance..

I have one interesting question for you about the product you reviewed; In your experience, did connecting to the external display thru Caldigit's Display port 1.4 (which is already there) cause any delay, latency, or any kind of performance issues? OR, would you rather suggest connecting your Macbook Pro directly to External Display thru a cable, like, USB-C to DisplayPort.. Would that make any difference? I would prefer to connect all my devices to the Docking Station, that is why I bought it for, am I right? But at the same time, I am wondering connecting mutliple things on Docking Station (ethernet, external webcam, ssd, external display, etc.) could cause any performance loss? Maybe I should also take advantage of Macbook Pro's existing ports, too. I just want to plug everything to my Docking Station and plug only the docking station to the Macbook Pro. That way, all I need to do is to unplug the Docking station, and take my laptop and leave home, you know I mean? Thank You 🙏🏻

The Firmware versions are different on TB4 (43.1), and TS4 (39.1) docking stations. Also SKUs are different. Caldigit says "Docking Station Utility" does not work on TB4 dock. Also "Apple SuperDrive's drivers" won't work on TB4. They all work on TS4 version though.. Aren't all these interesting?
