I’m from Houston. For every pro there’s like 10 cons. Good food but there’s a crap load of fat people. The traffic issue has been an issue for decades. Instead of actually working on the infrastructure to accommodate for traffic congestion, the solution is to always add one more lane. Construction will take a decade just to add a lane. There’s hardly anything to do besides eat and drink. Theres hardly anything to do outdoors because no one wants to go outside because it’s way too hot. The culture here sucks too. It’s all about country music and cowboy things. The rodeo is the main event people look forward to every year, which is so overrated. Dating sucks here because most of the women are fat, single moms, or fat single moms. And most women here want a tall country white guy, regardless of how diverse it is. If you do meet someone it’s more than likely going to be a long distance relationship because everything is about an hour drive away. There’s hardly any sidewalks because fat people don’t walk. Most of the sidewalks here have dog shit on them because owners don’t pick up after their dogs. Houston also has the highest dog population per capita in the country so good luck if you’re not a dog person. The air quality is trash. The water here is brown. I can go on.

I hate when some people say that they like "seasons". But when it gets really cold, snowy, icy or when tornado season is happening, they are the first to complain about the weather where they live. You do realize those things are a part of living in a seasonal climate. Also, if you have been in Houston for eight years, how do you not know the goings on around town? Houston has museums, great shopping, NASA, it isn't too far from the gulf if you like going to the water and there are various nightclubs. I know Houston doesn't have the glitz and glamour of New York City or Los Angeles, but not everyone is looking for that. Especially with the hefty price tag of those cities. I have spent time in Houston and yes, the traffic is a beast, but you learn to get used to it. If Houston is such a bad place, then why are all these people moving there?

Another con is all the creepy crawlies, bugs, mosquitoes, etc.! That can be frustrating or worse if you're from someplace like California (as I am) that doesn't have as many bugs and reptiles. We have some, of course (e.g. rattlesnakes, black widows), but not like Houston. That said, if you pay for pest control every few months it helps. Just kind of sucks you have to make pest control part of your seasonal or annual expenses. Also traffic and road rage in LA is terrible as well, but I think Houston might even be worse. But traffic in the suburbs is better.

Museums are fun for like a weekend and can sometimes be quite a drive depending where you live, but they can definitely be a fun activity!

That’s fair. I’ve visited New York City a few times and the driving there is very stressful!

If you’re from NY, I agree! I used to live in Michigan and I’m glad there’s no more winters here in Houston!

Wow 30k with a college degree. I’m from Northeast Ohio looking to relocate to H town because of the job market and I mean let’s face it it’s cold up here. Even with the cons I’m ready. Thanks for the info and the food suggestions.

It’s freezing! Definitely don’t miss it, especially hearing how Michigan got 1 foot of snow on Halloween. Let us know if we can help you with your relocation! 832-920-3589
