Nicely presented @lizcrews4508! Not only did Edgar's sister Margaret of Wessex ➛ Saint Margaret of Scotland ➛ Queen of Scotland ➛ The Pearl of Scotland, marry King Malcolm III of Scotland, but I believe Edgar married King Malcolm’s sister Margaret Canmore … a historic convergence of English and Scottish royal lineage! Unfortunately Edgar and Margaret Canmore produced no offspring. Fortunately though, for the sake of the preservation of this dynastically rich bloodline, Malcolm III and Margaret Ætheling did. Imagine the incredible heritage that flows through the veins of their descendants! Be well! Darren John Halifax 🇦🇺

I’m Mexican-American. My brother recently used Geni to trace our ancestry and imagine our surprise when he discovered that our father’s Spanish maternal line descended - across 29 generations - from Berenguela of Castilla, and of course, from her mother Eleanor of England (Queen of Castille) and her grandparents King Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine. That might explain why I am an absolute anglophile.

intresting that in the decade of marriage, ,then a joan lady of wales appears, with a unkown mistress pinsel mentioned,,, but gossip at court.... def surrounds isabella and jon marriage...etc but the original 'earldom of gloucester lands in glamorgan..'., wales then come under royal control, and almost like a annulment was already decided, regardless of if joan was her actual daughter or not... find it hard to believe in a decade, that the marriage was never .consumated, especially after king john reputation, the total opposite to king richard the lionheart Isabella was a wealthy heir...as Lady of Glamorgan.... must have been very akward the annulment and then living with the new wife, queen isabel of .angolueme...

Isabella, Countess of Gloucester (c.1160- - 1217),[1] inherited the vast, and wealthy cross-Channel honor of Gloucester. Married first to John, Count of Mortain , also in her own right as * Lady of wealthy welsh marcher lordship of GLAMORGAN... Lady Isabella of glamorgan,.... de facto ruling lady of glamorgan... then jon has a papal annulment.... and seizes her lands...of glamorgan etc... did they possibly have a child? John acceded to the throne in 1199, and before the end of August, he obtained an annulment of the marriage. The annulment was granted on the grounds of consanguinity, he either had no intention of making isabella the queen consort or already had another potential wife... as a joan princess, lady of the welsh later, is married to prince llewellyn the great... some welsh sources speculate that countess isabella his her actual mother, as * ( regina clementina)*1191 - 1237 but very quickly a story of a unkown mistress clemence pinsel appears as if its *made to fit the situation of seizure of welsh lands* or to appease the welsh

Nowadays, people seem to think that the church vs. state spheres of influence competing within society began with the French Revolution. It happened a lot earlier!

I liked your video. 👍😊 Henry did go to Rome in 1175 to get an annulment; but the Pope refused his request. Although imprisoned, Eleanor may have been able to bribe someone to kill Rosamund. Henry II had a habit of stealing other men's loves and intendeds or anyone else he fancied! Henry II was (obviously) a guy who did NOT take "no" (or "I'd rather not") as an answer to a demand. (Absolute rulers never politely "request" what they want, they demand). *According to the lore:* Henry demanded that Thomas Becket[1] give him the Welsh noblewoman, Gwendolen, whom he loved. She had been (supposedly) captured by Thomas on one of two of Henry's campaigns (1157, 1558) against Wales *Gwendolen committed suicide rather than* . *submit to Henry II. Again, According to the lore:* This was the beginning of the falling out between Thomas Becket and Henry II; even before Thomas Becket became Archbishop of Canterbury (and was assassinated by Henry's knights) It is possible that the story of Gwendolen was conflated with that of Rosamund Clifford (b. before 1140 - c. 1176) But I do not think that the dates support that theory. Becket became the High Chancellor of England in 1155 (appointed by Henry). He became the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1162 (appointed by Henry). Henry and Thomas did have a falling out regarding the jurisdiction of Cown sponsored-courts vs. Church (Canon) courts very early on during Becket's tenue as Archbishop. *The disagreements between* *Church and State (Henry and Thomas) became more frequent until Becket's murder (1170).* *Henry II 's official and very public repentance is the stuff of legend!* The film " *Becket* " (1964) is (mostly) true to the historical events. and the on-stage play. It stars Peter O'Toole as Henry II and Richard Burton as Becket. _______________________________________________ 1.) *Thomas Becket* (1120-1170) aka: *Saint Thomas of Canterbury* , * Thomas of London* and later *Thomas à Becket* "" [He] served as Lord Chancellor from 1155 to 1162, and then notably as Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 until his death in 1170. He engaged in conflict with Henry II, King of England, over the rights and privileges of the Church and was murdered by followers of the King in Canterbury Cathedral. Soon after his death, he was canonised by Pope Alexander III. He is venerated as a saint and martyr by the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. The main sources for the life of Becket are a number of biographies written by contemporaries. A few of these documents are by unknown writers, although traditional historiography has given them names. The known biographers are John of Salisbury, Edward Grim, Benedict of Peterborough, William of Canterbury, William fitzStephen, Guernes of Pont-Sainte-Maxence, Robert of Cricklade, Alan of Tewkesbury, Benet of St Albans, and Herbert of Bosham. @ jardon8636 " *El Cid* " ("the Lord") was *Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar* (c. 1043 - 1099) *a* *knight who lived in* *11th century Spain.* In Spain El Cid is also known as: " *El Campeador* " ("the master of the Battlefield") Eleanor of Aquitaine, William Marshall, Richard I of England and Berengaria of Navarre (c. 1165-1170 to 1230) lived in 12th century England and France. Although, the clothing did not change much during the 100 years or so between the eras of each. I personally think that El Cid was a more worthy knight than Richard I of England. ALSO: El Cid was a faithful husband and father (of 2 girls) After his death, his wife and daughters took refuge in a convent. Richard liked to fight but he was not a good peacetime administrator or husband. Like William Marshal, Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar was an outstanding knight and a great administrator. Both had better morals and exhibited more of the knightly qualities than the kings whom they served!

could you do a video about SIR RHYS AP THOMAS 1499-1525... OF THE DINEFWR CASTLE ESTATE,. camarthenshire,. distant cousin of HENRY 7TH & 8th TUDOR, instrumental at bosworth and the richest welsh noble of the entire tudor period... also connected... LADY KATHERINE HOWARD, later the 1st countess of DAUBNEY... died 1554 daughter of 2nd duchess of norfolk * AGNES TILNEY & thomas howard 2nd DUKE..of norfolk of FRAMLINGHAM CASTLE... *the howards were also distantly related to the tudors, beaufourts via edward I & II* AUNTY TO QUEEN ANN BOLEYN, KATHERINE HOWARD was orginally married to the *sir rhys ap grufydd, sir rice griffith* grandson of SIR RHYS AP THOMAS ... both distant cousins of HENRY 7th & 8TH.. SIR RHYS AP GRUFFYDD of the DINEFWR estate... & DINEFWR , carreg cennen, camarthen, llandovery castles and estates in ,,,CAMARTHENSHIRE , also of Carew castle in pembrokeshire and others across SOUTH WALES.. ancestrally the tudor dynasty was welsh, and sir rhys ap thomas also had tudor ancestry.. his mother was also a ST JOHN, the half step brother to MATER REX ,,magaret beaufourt, countess of richmond as REGENT 1509 for king henry 8th.. also sir rhys ap thomas, ancestors served as stewards to the HOUSE OF LANCASTER,and were from welsh nobilty and spoke welsh,... especially.. prince john of gaunt* ghent in the welsh marches, until that was king HENRY VI went mad...and the house of york became de facto *lord protector, also the WHITE ROSE OF YORK,, edward IV & RIchard III , did have distant ancestry from PRINCE LLEWELLYN THE GREAT... but to understand welsh nobility and royalty , would be to compare the HOUSE OF PERCY , with the HOUSE OF NEVILLE feud... that lasted many decades, wales and the marches too did have many local and regional rivarlries that futher complicated a already complicated WARD OF THE ROSES... the later civil war in wales , within the wider house of the roses , or war of the cousins , the lord protector of york was executed, queen magret of anjou tried to become regent but failed, and all hell broke out in much of wales..., that was until CARREG CENNEN, dinefwr castle was ransacked and besiged by the house of york , so the family went into exile in DUCHY OF BURGDUNDY.. where dowager duchess isabella of lancaster & portugal was a supporter of the lancastrian cause, who said on death of HENRY VI that lancaster had not fallen...she was still alive as a desendant of HENRY IV of bolingbroke* ironically her daughter in law, was duchess magaret of york that nearly everyone and the kitchen sink already knows about... his SIR RHYS AP THOMAS, Knight Baneret of BOSWORTH, also certainly the noble who executed RICHARD III... and in early life, was exiled at the court of DUKE PHILIP of burgundy, on his return was forced to support RICHARD III as his young son was captured... sir rhys ap thomas of dinefwr castle,, had too at least show RICHARD III and the yorkists outward or public aknowledgement, but his own son life was in danger..if he did not... support him at bosworth... SIR RHYS ap thomas, actually did a *machevilian manoveure* had some of his army *discreetly support & follow henry 7th. to bosworth* via north wales , dressed in different colours etc and the main force...many miles away, in a totally different direction, via south east wales...supporting RICHARD III so that any observers... yorkist scouts, would think they were 2 seperate armies, that never supported, even met or had a joint conference, also sir rhys ap thomas, allowed henry earl of richmond, henry 7th to mobilize and organize before bosworth, at great risk to his own son... so was SIR RHYS AP thomas of camarthenshire, motived by his son imprisonment, the belief in his distant cousin henry tudor cause, the revenge of the house of lancaster against york regarding his personal estates, the welsh folk legend of the MAB DARAGON or *son of prophecy that will sound the trumpet of KING ARTHUR and rule britain * maybe its a mix of all of the above... maybe the horn was used at BOSWORTH..., nathen amin new book *son of prophecy* the orgins of the welsh house of tudor, before they became english royals the family were welsh nobility.., the tudors also claimed like wiliam the conqueror , right by conquest at bosworth 1485...to be monarchs, and henry 7th also claimed the kingdom of gwynedd & princes of wales...predated the house of normandy 700 years supreme govenor of wales and distant cousin to HENRY 7TH... the dinefwr estate today part of the national trust * (NEWTON HOUSE) in south west wales... the ancestral family changed from ap RHYS to RICE...

maybe you can do the welsh princes of wales and *high kings of ireland* this would def complete and compare , with the scottish history...episodes... the title in scotland, is of the people something of a explanation.. KING ,,,QUEEN of SCOTS, of the scottish people, as scotland orginally was several different kingdoms, that did not unite in the same way as in england, and it was not conqured by william the conqueror... in england the king or queen is orginally title from the conquest of the land, by william the conqueror in 1066.. it took until the time of simon de montfort and a primative parliment, king john and the magna carta for the *english people to be a represented by a limited , some of the people....

You should add that you are talking about British history, not human history. There are records of a man who was publicly executed around 30 A.D. by the Romans. I think you know his name.

Nothing changes, the majority of the 'common people' still foot the tax bill while the rich along with corrupt politicians use legalised tax avoidance to which the 'common people' have no access.

No he definitely wasn’t the first public execution. Romans were doing it long before 1196.
