We sang this last Sunday . Our soloist was perfect and I completely understood where Thomas Attwood was coming from because of our soloist.

It is not the Filosofo but n 47 The Palindrome (written likely in 1772). The menuet can be read on both sides ( hence the nickname Palindrome)

I am allways struck how original Haydn was in works like this. Can't see much influence of other composers of that period and certainly not of the Bach dynasty type. When this was composed Haendel and Telemann were still active and Haydn is so different. Only to hit on that strange orchestration, 2 horns in e flat, 2 English horns and nothing else.

Memories! I used to sing this as a choir boy 70 years ago. Also Attwood's "Come Holy Ghost", rarely heard these days. Mum would sit in the front row of the congregation with tears running down her face. It was her favorite too!

Lovely, thank you. I love singing this. I just noticed a 30 year diary entry of when sang the solo in it. I still know every note of it. Wonderful music.

Love all the nuances the Baroque flute can deliver - the "modern" instrument simply doesn't have the necessary sensitivity, and as a matter of fact i've noticed relatively cheap "traversos" have now became quite widespread among the "new generations" of flutists. That's not a generalized adoption, but it now is easier to find a flutist owing and being eager to double on the Baroque instrument.

gorgeous. I never thought about playing baroque flute before. Until I started really paying attention to bach. Im ready to make the switch forever. Im sure I would be satisfied till the rest of my days.

When I had attended the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Philadelphia (1985-90) there was a great Choral teacher named David King. The choir sang this selection for the Wachet Auf Bach around the clock radio program and I had the unique opportunity to play the Trumpet for this great anthem! David King was a very expressive conductor and I have never heard or seen anyone to compare to his interpretation and choral musicianship. This rendition is to be commended for its sensitivity of the text and delicate phrasing. Well done! The angles will welcome you to the eternal choir!

If only this Welsh treble had been singing at the Harry-Markle wedding! The woman they got was flat as a pancake. I used to sing in this choir.
