The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) - War, Revenge, and Redemption
Best review out there. No doubt
I’ve just watched this film in Belfast in the Queen’s film theatre with my film graduated son . It was a birthday present for his old man who he knew loved it . I can now honestly say ( in my humble opinion) it’s the greatest film ever made .
Thanks for the review, in my opinion this is not only the best Wesren ever made but one of the greatest films ever made. I first saw it way back in 1973 on a second run - I was literally STUNNED, I sat through it twice and then brought my brother to watch it at the weekend and we say through it twice as well, I've literally lost count at 45 watchings of how many times I have seen the film, it's ethos has been a guiding light.
After watching The Wild Bunch, l knew that it changed the way Westerns had been.
The cast, the Director and scenery can never be duplicated. Absolutely the best!
A great story, nothing like the book it was supposed to made from
It was violent, down and dirty but there was a sense of nobility, comradeship and beauty to 'The Wild Bunch' that makes it one of my all time favourites. Magnificent! An excellent review btw. Bravo!
Too much narration
millennial woes sent me. Subbed
Really enjoyed your commentary and analysis.
Well said/done!
interesting, but what he telling about Emilio Fernandez is mostly nonsense. And mentioning Santa Ana in the context of the movie is nonsense, too.
I dont think they can make such type of movies now a days!
I think it is curious how The Day After sounds so similar to the title of another 🍿 film, The Day After Tomorrow.
Well, since the world is more or less in the same crapy situation now, we may at least expect the movies to get better and deal with it.
It’s almost unbelievable, but we seem to be getting closer and closer to this.

Cannonball Run is better than 90% of every movie these days
Of course, we all hope that "Mr. Walsh" settled down to live a long and happy life. OTOH, if that didn't work out, he could have gone on to become several of the nameless characters of his other films (but not "Good, Bad, and Ugly" because the timelines don't line up).
Now: Gary Oldman Leon: The Professional: Gary Youngman
I loved Clint Eastwood movies, but then I reached puberty.
Civil war was mean as hell. Light won over dark as usual
When President Ronald Reagan saw “The Day After”, it made him very depressed and that it changed his mind on the prevailing policy on a nuclear war.
Joe, blondie, Manco…he had many names
Now I know why I'm so fascinated with the book, 'Blood Meridian', by Cormac McCarthy. I'm going to watch the directors cut of 'The Wild Bunch' tonight.
Wiliam Holden should have won the oscar for this movie ..with Ernset Borgnine best supporting.
Why not????????????????
One minor correction. In the time it would have been normal for a man to burry at least one of his children, and maybe a wife also. To be fair it was more likely for a wife to bury her husband, and more than a few children. Things were very dangerous back in the day.
We moved to Kansas in 1976 as a 11 year old kid ? They still hated us people form Missouri at that time ? I & my brother were in fights about every day, back , then . And I stopped being whipped in fights by any of them , even if out numbered , many of times , like we was .
Did you know the Rothschilds were funding BOTH sides of the Civil war ? Surely now, after evvverrrything we have learned, just over the last 4years alone (2024 --2020) people still believe the Gooberments version of the civl war? Cmon now. At the height of -slavery- of the entire American population 1.6% owned -slaves- and of those owners 78% were -JEWISH-
I also value this movie and make sure to watch it every year. One nit to pick, Mapache's opponent is Pancho Villa, not Santa Anna.
I fear heights, genital harm, dying alone and insects.
my great great grandfather was the man who arrested Ed, apparently Gein shot him in the arm
Jeff Bridges could've worked, he has the Rambo look
my great grandfather was in the Korean War
Your assessment of "The Wild Bunch" was first rate! An excellent, inspired look at a brilliant film that needed to be made and seen. Three years late, but Thanks!
Thank you :)
That was great. Thank you
rewatched this only a few days ago and I already feel like watching it again, so slow, yet engrossing and captivating❣
yes good movie, but the sequel had more stars added. at least twice as many.... nonetheless, the first one is my fave of the two.
During the first American Civil War? When was the second? How many actual Civil Wars did we have?🤣🤣🤣 Got some of the history wrong... nice try.
I told a friend about this and she was a big Clint Eastwood fan but had never seen it before. She was more than pleased with the viewing of one of Clint’s best.
The original John Wick! Of all Clint’s masterpieces, I think The Outlaw Josey Wales is the true pinnacle.
@@@ WATCHMEN SOUND THE ALARM !! GOD is about to pour out JUDGEMENT on an unbelieving world! Christians born again of the Spirit are about to VANISH! Accept the Gospel NOW! The Good News of JESUS CHRIST! For God loved the world, so He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16) JESUS is the ONLY way! Admit you're a sinner! You can't get to heaven by works or just being a good person! REPENT and call upon Jesus for forgiveness! BELIEVE in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God, that he came in the flesh, lived a sinless life and then died on a CROSS for you! TRUST that God raised Jesus from the grave on the 3rd day! By Faith accept the shed BLOOD of Jesus alone as payment for all your sins! Jesus promised to come back! In fact He's at the door right NOW!

You've been away. It's clear that IQs have dropped sharply.
Can we discuss the bonus situation?
Just recently discovered your stuff. It's wonderful.
Great video but quick correction, the Mexican Revolutionary Mapache is fighting against Pancho Villa, Santa Anna had died over thirty years prior
