Tingling in your pinky/ring finger? Weak grip?
มุมมอง 1.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
If you have tingling in the fingers, be sure to have a healthcare provider address your low cervical, the entire pathway of C8 / ulnar nerve, and work the entire chain. Everything is connected! I often see this treated surgically, trying to just release the ulnar nerve at one point, then let it heal in a sling for 6 weeks. This is not how we treat nerves successfully conservatively. The concept...

    I’ve just discovered after 3 years of Trigeminal electrocution pains in my face to all three branches that my occipital nerve is trapped at this point and has been referring pain to my face. I was getting over a hundred or more shocks a day. Finally someone looked at my Occipital nerve and I’ve had a nerve block which stopped the facial pain. Carbomazapine stopped working on it. What an awful journey and I don’t follow the usual referral of pain pattern except I get vision issues. I’m going to have surgery on this.

      Definitely would not want to tension a very sensitized nerve. Flossing with slack on one end and tension on the other would be better. For a less sensitive and just "sticky" at times a tensioner can be helpful. For sure need to listen to the body!

      I would seek care from a skilled physical therapist who is trained in neurological dry needle therapy. That is what I utilize with most of my patients in conjunction with a tailored plan for addressing mobility in the thoracic spine and lower cervical and stability exercises for the upper cervical. This video was made for a patient to review structures we had been working on in a session and definitely is not intended to be a self help type video. It just happened to take off on TH-cam because so many people are suffering with pain here. I am sorry you are dealing with it as well!

    Ideally nerve blocks, steroid injections with a two gap followed by botox injections in the scm, levator, trap should happen a month a few weeks before PT if you have this imo. Not only will it basically cure the symptoms but the fact is the nerves are inflamed a long with the muscles. As a result, PT won't do any good before hand because everything is inflamed causing a positive feed back loop.

    • @HiFLEXHealthPerformance
      @HiFLEXHealthPerformance 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you are spot on for the right case! Sometimes things are SO angry and irritated that other intervention past what PT can do are needed to help calm things down before we can make a lasting impact.

  • @Dingyboyy
    @Dingyboyy 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I just separated my shoulder, I’m really worried if it will never be the same. Do you have advice for finding a physiotherapist for this? I mean what can they even do really? Just strengthen the surrounding muscles in your chest and delt and deal with it like that forever? It just sucks it seems like. Even if it wasn’t as bad what would be the risk going forward for the injured shoulder in particular like is it more at risk for impact or in certain positions?

    • @HiFLEXHealthPerformance
      @HiFLEXHealthPerformance 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So sorry to see this! There are a lot of manual interventions to make sure secondary muscle guarding of the neck and shoulder blade do not kick up and cause additional pain and discomfort . But yes, a massive focus would be on strengthening of the proper musculature to ensure as much support as possible to the stretched ligaments. if there is complete tear of ligaments, surgical intervention may be warranted. If there is only partial tearing of the ligaments, often times, significant strengthening can be very helpful and avoid surgical intervention of course. Without seeing you, there is no way for me to give any specific advice like that. Where are you located? Sometimes the best route is to ask on social media and see who people in your area have gotten great results from. This is not always, but typically an orthopedic is going to send to someone in-house or someone who markets to them a lot (they may get great results don’t get me wrong but usually physician offices are not as familiar with out of network providers who have more 1:1 time).

    Amazing presentation. So which kind of doctor should we refer to. Is it orthopaedic or neurological expert? Can this be associated with Gastric as i have this kind of pain but with increased burps..

    • @HiFLEXHealthPerformance
      @HiFLEXHealthPerformance 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally my vote goes to neuro based physician rather than ortho! I prefer a neurological focused D.O. Interesting about the increased burps. Makes me think about vagus nerve as it controls rest and digest vs fight or flight. Being more into fight or flight can stress GI and potentially cause increased burping. Loved the 3D and the explanation. Had a huge crash on riding MTB and ended up with a broken left wrist and a level 5 separation in the right clavicle. Had surgery on both areas the same day a week after the crash. Had a surgen tell me that the clavicle was just estetic and surgery was not needed, but I wanted surgery. Even after healing without surgery its something that is just going to hurt or be uncomfortable when lifting weights or doing activities. I would have prefered a broken clavicle bone insted on ligaments but that is what I got. I'm in my 2weeks of recovery and pain is gone but movement is very stiff. Doctor told me not to move or use shoulder with force for 3 to 4 months, so that is do, I dont want to damaged the area.

    These are the most painful headaches. I do have occipital pain for sure. But I do take Maxalt 10mg (Rizatriptan benzoate) which is the only medication that relieves the throbbing itself. It’s a migraine med but does work for me to relieve the nasty ones. But the soreness and tightness still remain until it refers right back up into the back of my head and over my right eye. At this point in my life I have come to accept headaches are part of my existence. I’m in my mid fifties now and have had headaches of varying degrees since my 20s. If a doctor could find the root of my pain and help me knock it out, it would be life changing for me.

      Try tipping head toward the arm as opposed to away and see if that changes things. Tensioning the nerve when it is too irritable can zing you. Think about it as slacking one side, tensioning the other versus tensioning both sides.

    Love the 3d model! What scenario do you recommend surgery? When it’s grade 5 and all the ligaments are torn? I’m starting to use mine again at week 2 but I’m contemplating surgery. Do you think not having surgery would make it easier to hurt other things in the shoulder due to the instability of how much it has moved in a grade 5? Or with enough PT and strength it would be strong again for dirt bike riding and future crashes

      So sorry you're experiencing such frustrating symptoms with minimal answers. Personally I think a neurological focused dry needle therapy combined with joint mobilizations to the appropriate levels (determined by a skilled PT typically or chiro) and a strength program that works on endurance of stabilizing musculature and calming down the overpowering musculature like pec and upper trap is a good approach. Of course everything is nuanced and depending on specific scenario. Are you tender along your sternocleidomastoid?
