ebay sucks, i gave up years ago, similar issue asked to send FAULTY UNIT back and they would cover shipping costs and they failed to pay me the shipping costs. Ebay sideded with them because they refunded initial buy costs. Left me out if pocket. Also its a nightmare if you cant get to talk to a human on the phone - all automated. You go round in circles. markx out of 10 gor customer service- i give 2.

EBay is a garbage company. They never side with the seller. Ever since they removed the option for sellers to leave negative feedback for buyers, it’s gone downhill. Long live Facebook marketplace.

I don't sell anything valuable or expensive on Ebay ever. I do not trust Ebay to protect me as a seller. I only list valuable items on Poshmark because their customer service is much better although not perfect... they do try to make both parties happy.

I've suffered some really arrogant and verbally aggressive American sellers, who seemed to fly off the handle at the slightest disagreement with them. It soured many a purchase experience and caused me to avoid them with a kind of post-trauma wariness if I even saw the item was from a US seller. Happened way too many times for it NOT to be noticeable, compared to buying from other countries. What gives?

Okay, just watched a couple more of your videos and learned you’re in Austin. I’m originally from there but now live about a hour away. I now have a flea market booth. I tried Posh and felt like I has less control of my shop there. If you want to send offers to buyers the offer has to be higher than past offers you sent on that item. They also make you discount shipping when you send an offer. Another thing I didn't like is that they always want you to cut your prices. I have vintage items that I know are long sell items. I price fairly and do not want to cut my listing price. Ebay lets me market the way I want. Just some food for thought.

You have to play eBay's game or you will get burned. 1. Offer FREE RETURNS 2.On high value items never offer free shipping because original shipping does not have to be refunded if you offer FREE RETURNS. 3. Never open a case before the item is returned. If you do your screwed, eBay will force the item to be returned and you will pay for it. ( an example of this you sold an item you know was factory sealed and the buyer says it was missing parts) 4. If you offer FREE SHIPPING you can deduct up to a 50% restocking fee if the buyer returns something used or other fraudulent reason that you can prove. Take it or leave it 50% or they will most likely decide with the buyer if you open a case.

I would keep a record of all buyers etc.

Film it when you package & take picture of serial number on item & film the same for cloths & i am sure they are other sites to sell you goods.Also film opening a return to prove you are not lying.

I have been selling on eBay since 2008! I completely agree with your statement and I have experienced the same thing over the past 2 years! I list my items on eBay, PoshMark & Mercari. PoshMarks fees are 20% for any item sold over $15.

Yea I've been burned by eBay sellers for a big chunk of money! BUT I've been burned by Walmart as well. The only one that comes out on top so far is Amazon! But I'm a buyer NOT a seller!

The smelly item thing must be going around cause I have had 4 of the same complaints in the last month or so. The one that really puzzled me was I sold some sealed sports cards new factory sealed and they opened them and said they smelled of a horrific odor, and opened a return. When I shipped the item they were sealed and now eBay forced me to refund money on an opened product that was new and factory sealed due to an odor he smelled when opening them. Another occasion was an item that apparently smelled of smoke, also brand new and no one smokes here and we have oxygen in use in my home. Ebay forced a refund there as well. I have considered not using the platform any more myself. seems they do not care about the seller at all anymore. My thing is if not for sellers they would have no buyers nor make money. Good luck to you on what ever you decide to do.

I don’t refund until I receive the item back and eBay seems ok with that.

Not postmark. Never got an item sold on there

I once received a clothing item from a seller on Mercari. It was the 1st item I purchased. Wellll, as soon as I opened the bag, the most vile stink wafted out. Using a pencil, I pulled it out and carried it to my laundry room. It took two washings to get out the stink. I let the buyer know but did not ask for a refund.

Ugh. I gave up selling. I only sold my son's baby clothes (many in amazing to new condition). I used to make some good pocket $ but then when they introduced the final fees, and how much postage has gone up (I live in a very remote area) and always seemed to get buyers that lived on the other side of the country. Anyway... I just gave everything to my local church & charities. They got some good stuff!!

My oldest daughter has been selling on Posh for 3 years now. She does very well. I have never heard her complain. No buisness is perfect but it makes me feel good knowing she loves her store & platform. Wishing all the best with whatever you decide.

I sold on ebay Since it's inception but stopped selling on that platform last year. It was a relief not to deal with so much bs and so little seller support.

I just started, 3 months ago, selling on eBay. I have had ONE bad buyer, i think scammer, and it is disheartening to have that RED negative feedback. However, this BAD buyer forced me to find out HOW to deal with this issue, the action to take, the action to pursue, the results to expect, and how to set up my store policies differently. Even though I did lose the sale, $45.00 and shipping costs, I did get my item back, damaged, but I learned a lot. Will it happen again, probably, will I handle it differently, hopefully better. Still have the red mark, but i left a reply on it to inform the guy was a jerk. Ebay, did nothing, just form letter messages. I think I just avoided a major scammer this morning. Price of doing business is a real thing. P.S. You should not have given a partial refund. The guy wanted me to, no way...good luck to us here in Texas

I haven’t sold on eBay in several years and recently returned. Things have changed since I last sold. Sellers can no longer give buyers negative feedback. I recently had a guy file claim he didn’t receive the new shirt I sold. Thank god I still had the receipt with tracking. He just got quiet after I produced it. Item had been delivered weeks prior. I called eBay and the nice man I spoke with advised I block the buyer. Who knows if this guy has done this in the past- since sellers can’t give them negative feedback 🙄

Nobody gives a rats ass about feedback anymore, so you do not have to cave to these buyers' stupid ass demands.

Poshmark is also a vicious platform. It's tough either way. I don't sell professionally so when I do, I don't offer returns. They usually side with the customer from what I have observed.

EBay made a huge mistake and not preventing Third Rate Chinese garbage from taking over the platform. The exact same thing has happened to amazon. It will be the death of amazon, just like it basically ruined ebay.

FYI If a buyer opens up an INAD (Item not as described) you are required regardless of your policy to pay for the return shipping. You also get a ding on your performance metrics, and if you get too many people being dishonest about the return reason, you'll get an additional 6% in fee. Ebay is setup to milk you for every penny you can get, while treating you like you're dirt.
