This is my first year trying to get purple martins to come live in my yard. I have had the house up since April. I am just now seeing a couple come look. They have done this a couple days and maybe spend 20 minutes but then leave. Also continuing to fight off sparrows.

It stay blue though the tape in VCR is running. What I am doing wrong?

I purchased everything suggested, set it up step by step, checked and rechecked my steps but I can’t get the video to appear on my computer. I even tried recording but it just recorded the blue screen. I have a Toshiba laptop with windows 7. Any suggestions?

So do you then have to play the game through the computer? Is there a way to still play off the tv at the same time?

I use the same setup. A couple things you might mention... 1, under Tools on the top menu bar you can select Output timer and set the length of time it will record. You can also see the recordings under the File / Show Recordings from the top menu bar. One thing I'm trying to find is for OBS to stop recording when the video signal is lost. I currently setting record time for 6hrs and then using Windows Movie Maker to split the content. Would be nice if OBS stopped recording automatically.

What about aspect ratio and resolution? Aren't VHS signals 480x640 and 4:3? Does OBS need to know that?

Does it capture the video EXACTLY as it’s shown. For example let’s say you have a dirty vcr player and the video image keeps blacking out every 5 seconds, is that how it’s going to record?

Thanks for the video! It gave me some new inspiration after troubleshooting all day. Just rubberduck debugging here, this might be interesting: I have a smart tv (ChiQ U55H7a). It's new but the LCD screen is broken. I am trying to see my tv screen with Cam Link 4k via OBS on my computer, but it just says: no signal. So, I suspect I need to finish some kind of setup on the tv itself, which I can't do because the screen doesn't work, Or am I missing a cable box? What do you think? I've also tried directly connecting it to my internet via ether cable / trying to find it via my Google Home system / trying to blindly go trough the first setup -which is hi-la-rious to even try btw-, but....alas, nothing seems to work. If you have any troubleshooting ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Hey man great video! Would this possibly be the best way to do this (but backwards) To put newer files on a vhs tape and have it not looked zoomed in?

Excellent overview and information. Exactly what I was looking for. I actually added another component - a 1 to 2 HDMI OREI Splitter. You have to pay attention to the splitter compatibility with your cable box, but I am able to connect my Comcast cable box to both my Smart TV and my computer at the same time for watching and recording. Show me where VCR players VCR belts are hard finding yet i have no problem's getting them offline now days everything getting to a point it has to be done on buying on online now days no more getting out of your house now days

People don't know is much what they think they know vhs tapes last longer then what people thinks now days everything proven vhs tapes don't go out like a computer does and phone does everything proven people like myself have put movies on my computer and my phone before and am not doing that again everything else is proven when that computer goes out you have no way of getting it to come on to put them movies on to your new computer plus a phone does the same thing people like myself have done everything like that before

People like myself are fixing broken vhs tape with Scotch tape it starts playing again with out no problem's everything proven people don't want you having nothing now days specially vhs movies

Everything is proven people keep there mode switch clean out like they should people will never have playing problem's at all with there VCR players everything proven online how clean out a mode switch in a VCR player

Seems like it should work, will add it to my to-do list. My main concern is that videotape is not forever - someday it will stop working even if you don't touch it. So even though I rarely watch movies in any format anymore, I'd still like to be able to avoid the disappointment of finding that my 30 year old tape no longer works.

That's what I thought too!! If it's good playing it should be good recording, but it starts as soon as I click on the record button. Thanks for looking more into OBS ... I'll be checking back to see any updates! Thanks again!
