It's Shake n Bake and i helped and Gleem toothpaste
I hope you liked those ads!
I wasn’t born until 1976 so I don’t remember any of these but I sure love these retro commercials.
Glad you like them!
Now I want to hunt for other camera commercials. I know Kodak produced tons of them, but there must be a bunch from other film companies like the Ansco ones here.
Yes I think there are some Ansco ads!
What part of USA did you live? I was north of NYC but most was from NYC Stations and I don't recall most of these in our area
Originally from Yonkers, NY
Note: Several of these commercials are from the UK and Australia. 2:17 - Julius Erving for ChapStick. 3:48 - Carol Potter is the woman in the People magazine ad. 4:19 - In the Soup Starter commercial, look for Randee Heller at 4:37. 4:48 - Don Adams for Chief Auto Parts stores. 9:57 - Here's that Ray Charles Pioneer LaserDisc ad Steve mentioned in the intro. Jazz pianist George Shearing appears with Ray at the end.
Yes you are right some are from other countries!
Gee I didn’t know there were so many Post Cereal commercials. Do they pay you for all this free advertising? Just kidding! Loving your videos!
They had a lot, glad you enjoy them!
Yeah, I remember the endless commercials, which is why I won't be watching this channel.
Ha Ha , thanks for watching garry!
Man, Steve, I forgot about most of these treasures, but keep’em coming! Thanks for having me…
Glad you are enjoying them!
Debbie Allen in the Hardee's commercial.
Yes your right!
Love your channel and these old commercials! You’re showing a lot of ones I haven’t seen before which is great! One I’d love to see again and have been looking many years for is the Lipton Giggle Noodle Soup psychedelic one with the Zoupman from the late ‘60’s/early’70’s. Would you try to find that one please?
I will try to find that one! thanks for watching!
The woman eating something and describes that it's crunchy. What was the name of the commercial?
Not sure let me check that out!
Awesome that at 2:17. Back when we had great jingles: 28:05. 🎶🎵🎶
They came up with some great Jingles!
I wonder where the people in the Scope commercial spit out the mouthwash between 16:22 and 16:24.
Hmm not sure ?
Steve , Did you know that Berra and Rizzuto co-owned a bowling alley in Clifton NJ?
I didnt know that, thanks for the info!
Looks like the Cratchets were pretty well off in the NyQuil commercial. Nice to see all of my favorite characters were working back in the day. Thanks for the memories,Steve…
No Problem glad you enjoyed it!
The main difference is: back then people understood the concept of advertising hyperbole. We badgered Mom to buy the breakfast cereal that bragged about its sugar content because it tasted good, not because we literally believed its consumption would make us super athletes or enable us to fly around the room as some commercials not shown here suggested. Of course the toys in the cereal boxes didn't hurt, either; but I don't think anyone really cared how many raisins were in the raisin bran, but then I hate raisins. We also had a sense of humor about sales techniques, and we didn't think Daddy Crisp promoted patriarchy or that the laundry detergent enabled the housewife's drudgery.
Crazy advertising back then!
What was the woman eating and describing that was so crunchy?
I was asking that too.
The innocence of being a kid in 1970 during ABC's Friday Family Night. Must have been great times for kids and pre-teens. Partridges tonight, no school tomorrow. Woo hoo! (I was only 4 and don't remember it.)
Yup those were great times!
I had the balloon boat. Played for 3 minutes and that was that.
Thats cool that you had that!
7:47 Oh gosh those ads for camay soap Nowadays a girl would call you A cheap bastard and maybe slap you faces for giving her soap implying she stinks 😅
Funny what you remember. As soon as I saw the pearl I knew it was Prell.
I knw crazy right!
4:40 - Claude Kirchner on the voiceover for the Marx Super Wheel. 5:40 - Don Knotts and friends for Gaines Meal. 8:43 - Barney Martin is the larger of the three men in that Alpha-Bits ad. 17:03 - The Jackson 5 for Alpha- Bits. 22:24 - That's either Dick Beals or Walter Tetley doing the voiceover for Post Extra cereal. 23:54 - Who's that woman in the commercial for Vicks Blue cough drops? I don't know her name but she was in tons of commercials during the '70s and '80s. She's also at 26:14 in the Sara Lee ad. 25:56 - The guy at 26:06 is the guy who played Aldo Cella in those commercials for Cella wines: "Chill a Cella!" 26:25 - John S. Launer is the guy sweating in the sweatbox in the Vicks cough drops ad. 27:57 - I think that Mars bar commercial is from the '80s. The audio is in stereo. Look for a pre-Beverly Hills 90210 Luke Perry in that ad.
Thanks for those awesome details!
27:26- 1972. Paul Tripp, narrator.
Great Details!
Thank you! That's only part of it.
Remember when Paul Tripp hosted Birthday House back in the 60s?
YES!
I don't know how you got these commercials, but I feel like I'm 10 years old again. I missed some, but Uncle Sam sent me to Vietnam. I enjoy them, so PLEASE keep them coming. Thanks! And you sound like you're from NYC. I'M from Brooklyn, and accents don't change. LOL 🤣
Yes im originally from Yonkers NY !
14:59- 1973. 17:03- 1971. Marv Albert, announcer. 17:36- 1950. 18:51- 1967. 19:51- 1966.
0:17- 1970. Len Weinrib, announcer. 2:15- 1976. 3:08- {with telop} "CRAZY EDDIE!!!! His prices are *IN-SAAAAAAANE!!!!!!!!!!!!"* 3:40- 1959. Rex Marshall speaks for Gleem. 6:39- 1960 (feauring the cast of "THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW") 8:09- 1968 8:44- 1969 9:14- 1962 (featuring Rocky Graziano) 9:56- 1965 10:56- 1957
OMIGOD!! I REMEMBER THE CRAZY EDDIE LOCAL COMMERCIALS, THEY WERE A SCREAM!! THE TRUE STORY BEHIND EDDIE IS A YRIP IN ITSELF!!❤️😱😱😨
He had some crazy commercials!
You can see dirt disappear. Pine-Sol Not a drop of grease left here. Pine-Sol Cleaning dirt off the floor, grease and grime and much more. This was also an instrumental hit, the name I don't know because it's instrumental.
wow thats cool!
Long before Sugar Bear came on the scene, Sugar Crisp had three bears named Handy, Dandy and Candy as its characters in the early 1950s. Legendary voice over Rex Marshall speaks for Gleem Toothpaste. Baseball Hall of Famer Yogi Berra goes bowling with AMF MagicScore. Ralph Bell speaks for Vicks.
Wow you knew those, thanks for watching!
Wasn't Crazy Eddie kinda shady, or am I thinking of someone else?
Not sure but he did have crazy commercials back in the day!
He was rather shady indeed. Google him and prepare to be appalled.
Yes I am in the Bronx and know all about Crazy Eddie. He was indicted for securities , sales, and insurance fraud and other frauds pertaining to merchandise. In 97 he was sentenced to 8 years in jail but was released in 99.
Eddie Antar. He built a great business, and abused it by being greedy.
Thank you.Out of all but nothing hardly of all the drama Channels nice on a Friday a happy channel like this to bring smiles.👉💯✅
Im so happy you enjoyed it!
The Crazy Eddie commercial was priceless. Thanks for your Way Back Machine
Your welcome he had crazy commercials!
New York disc jockey Jerry Carroll was "Crazy Eddie".
I was a kid in the 60's, and TV was IT! That and the Beatlles.
Yup it was great times!
Very good advice Steve. I am 65 and i started eating a heathier diet about 2 years ago. High protein, low carb low fat, and no sugar. Exercising with weights. I feel so much better. Big fan of the foods you mentioned and love Greek yogurt!
Glad you are doing good, thanks for watching!
Love your channel Steve. Me being a old fart, i really like the old commercials!
Glad you enjoyed those!
There's a book called "The Verse by the Side of the Road" (out of print, it would seem) about the Burma Shave signs on highways. There were five signs spaced apart so they could be read by people travelling in cars and were very popular. There were lots of different verses and the last sign always read "Burma Shave". It wouldn't work now, people drove more slowly in those days. They probably disappeared before I was born. This is one verse I remember from the book: Said Juliet To Romeo If you won't shave Go homeo. Burma Shave.
Oh wow thats crazy , thanks for watching!
@@SteveZExplores I thought of two more verses. They had some driver safety ones: When turning corners Take it slow Let the little Shavers grow. Burma Shave I like this kind better: Heaven pity The mighty Caesars They plucked their whiskers Out with tweezers. Burma Shave I've got the book, but it's packed up in a box somewhere. The verses are probably collected somewhere online, but I haven't checked.
I'm 61, and remember a pledge commercial, as a woman running thru a forest, lifted up to a tree house, and dusts. I remember the song, and some lyrics to the jingle too, , how sad, lol "lemon pledge does your dusting, like no other could" la la la something like that,,,,,,, please tell me you remember that one, There are times i feel i was the only one born in '63, sigh lol
I dont remember that one but it sounds like a classic!
I was born in 1963 too but don’t remember that one!
I liked drive in movies since the hot dogs and popcorn was good. I smoked a bit of dope as such movies. Preferred fall or spring, season wise.
Good times!
Yes, the beginning of the semester, when he pressure wasn't on quite yet and the girls wore halter tops.
The benson and hedges is all time best
Best thing I’ve watched all week…I think I might prefer this over the Super Bowl this weekend
Ha ha thats funny, thanks for watching!
Amazingly, I remember most of these. Born in 1958, the 60's was my childhood and tube black and white TV'S. I miss that simple safe and secure time with my mom and dad. Oh, how I miss them too. I will see them again in the sweet by and by.
Glad you enjoyed it and it brought back some great memories!
@@randalljudahherron3186 me too. 1958 June baby
Many of these I dont remember. But l sure recall full service gas stations! People took them for granted back then unaware they'd end up pumping their own high-priced gas in another 10 yrs or so.
Yup it's crazy how things have changed!
That was My Wife's Favorite SciFi Show when she was a Kid. Another Great Presentation Amigo
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
I read somewhere that Guy was actually buried in his original Zorro cape…not sure if true or not but pretty cool if it is!
That was a Great Presentation! I'm in my late 60s and I remember so many of those Commercial! Thanks for some Wonderful Memories. Oh by the way, Subscribed to Your Channel. Glad I Found You
Thank you so much I appreciate that!
Hey Steve, could that be a young Kenan Thompson in the PopRocks commercial? You can see how “Grease” influenced the IncredaBubble bit…Gerry Matthew’s gave Sugar Bear a very Bing-Dino casual character. And Mason Adams (Toast-ems) most famous saying, With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good. And has to be a young Bob Hastings as the shaker soda jerk…what a Borgeshmorg…Character Actor Heaven, but they were never out of work!
Yup all those classic actors started in commercials!
The bald man in the Dawn commercial played Grady (the first Grady) on Sanford and Son. Not Whitman Mayo. I recognize some of the other actors too.
thats great that you knew who that was, thanks for watching!
Love your channel! Just subscribed. I remember a commercial from maybe the late 50's early sixties. A brother and sister, it was an animation one. It might have been advertising Jello, but I remember the girl sauntering off say she was going to 'Make a soufflé for the grown-ups!' My sister and I would do that bit. But have not seen it since, maybe you can find it?
Hmm I dont recall that one, thanks for watching!

8:14 - Gerry Matthews as the voice of Sugar Bear for Post Super Sugar Crisp and Super Orange Crisp cereals. 10:26 - Mason Adams does the voiceover for Post Toast'ems. 10:55 - John S. Launer for Post's line of toaster pastries. 11:26 - John Erwin on the voiceover for Zest soap. 17:02 - Vernee Watson is the woman at 17:06 in the Sara Lee ad. 20:00 - Mason Reese for Ivory Snow.
The photo on the front is the Weirs Beach drive in theater in Weirs Beach, NH. I am from NH and remember that theater well. They remained open for decades and sadly they closed last summer
Oh that's great you recognized it !
