It's great to see someone new try my favorite game. Old MTG guy here.(1997 Mirage) Learn how to build your deck around your relics powers and understanding those powers, is key. Plan your path carefully to maximize your game. For instance, you often lost your Fossilized Helix benefit to the HP loss from playing Brutality and Hemokinesis. Getting the ability to take a large attack for free, should have been the priority to maximize that relic.

I feel like Coat of Arms is actually more of a Win More card than Door of Destinies is, but I would probably not run either of them. In most kindred decks I would much rather just drop an overrun style card such as Craterhoof, or one of the similar cards in the other colors that offer some form of evasion and/or a buff to actually get through, such as Archtype of Inspiration in blue or Cover of Darkness in black. In my experience, having evasion is a much bigger deal than size, especially since most kindred decks have various lords that they can play that increase the size of their creatures. Helm of the Host is a much better example of a card that can go either way, which is much more common than you may think. Context matters a lot in MtG. The balance you are talking about at the end is the need to have some personal pet cards that may be bad, but you like, with your bread and butter staple cards that let your deck actually compete. If you have too much of either one of those, it can negatively impact how the game goes for any given person at the table. I personally have decks that range from absolute trash, like my BR Giants Kindred deck lead by Axelrod Gunnerson, to my cEDH deck lead by Necrobloom. Knowing your playgroup is definitely the most important step in this.

Is MTG pay to win?

The clarification of different plays and cards are always nice. Even if someone isn’t going to play win more card(s), knowing what’s happening is always helpful!

Your last point is the most important IMO- what are YOU as a player trying to do with your deck? That's why I have a bunch of decks of all kinds- mostly because I just like PLAYING the game. I'm genuinely someone who doesn't care about winning when I'm just playing with friends or grinding the Arena ladders, but I still have one almost CEDH deck and a modern grapeshot deck if I come across anyone who wants to deal with those. Rule 0 is the most important discussion!

Uh!? "Everyone should have the pleasure to" ..no! You do know THIS is their company and product, right? They can do what they want with it.. you are the CONSUMER and nothing more. The market and the community support this crap, and so.. it goes on. If people don't consume it, then there's no product! Period. if you loved the game "very dearly" you would accept what you all made of it. It exists because of the attention you all give it. Things are not going to get better for this, or any other game, because of the culture that has grown from it.

There's a lot of people that will absolutely refuse to play with anybody that's playing with proxies even in casual games.

Wow yeah I'm kinda new to magic but this makes a lot of sense. Why wouldn't they just print to demand? very sketchy business. I'll definitely be printing proxies since they want to create an artificial demand.

The crazy thing is that the scalper don't even have the cards on hand to ship; they need to wait to get it in the mail from WotC and then they can ship it. So people are literally buying with the hope that the scalper didn't scam them. No one knows the condition of the cards either. People think since it costs so much money that it must be good quality....Previous Secret Lairs have cards that were scratched during delivery and/or experienced curling. I have printed proxies that are flatter than most foiled out magic the gather cards worth 50x the price.

They’re special cards If you want em you gotta take some time to get them. That’s how it is with exclusive and limited things. If YuGiOh got these collaborations the player wouldn’t be complaining this much.

When it comes to proxies I don't care if people use them because not everyone can afford the cards. I have a buddy who loves my sliver deck that cost me 500 for since I have all of the legendary slivers in there including queen and he asked if I could help him make a 1 for 1 copy with proxies and I made it for him because I know he can't afford a 500 deck.

I got up at 3:55am in Australia. Thankfully my friend did too and managed to get through the queue for us.. It's absolutely ludicrous that I need to get up that early to buy magic cards.

I was fortunate enough to get Cap, Wolverine, and Iron Man but had to sit for a three hours waiting - completely unacceptable. As someone who works for eBay on their server infrastructure, I would've been pissed as hell to not get anything because of Hasbro's terrible IT infrastructure and then have to go to work to support scalpers. This was a terrible way to start the Marvel collaboration. I will continue to play the game but I think it's appropriate and healthy to step away from purchasing products from Hasbro and Wizards. I have no issues with proxies after this situation.

I like the new way they do secret lairs better than waiting 9 months for it now turn around is 4 business days

I am an old school player who just got back in to the game. Prior to this I would have never proxied. Now I am looking forward to proxy’s of old sets. Magic is not being made for magic players.

I love Liberty Falls. I haven't heard any hate about it since release. It also gets more players than Terminus. I feel like Terminus is a much more traditional map

Great list and I agree with a lot of the ranks. All the showcases are big upgrades over the regular art (partly because of the improved foiling) and would be thrilled with any of them. For me I'd drop Krennic to A. Move Chewy to B and move Hera up to A. Boba, Lea and Palp would be my 1,2,3 ranks. Subjective for sure.
