That's just stereotyping. You can do better than just assuming eastern melodies to be just desert moanings...

actually Christan chants in eastern europe and eastern nations have this chant style. And this is actually the Orthodox christian chants sang by Byzantines themselves.

First of all the language is Hellenistic Greek. The common language of the ERE and up to 1980s in Greece. The Byzantine Music is just that, Music. That the whole repertoire is also prayers to Jesus, Mary, the Saints & Angels all of them, is just integral part of the Byzantine Music. If you ever visit a Greek orthodox church while operating on any type of event (mass, funeral, wedding, baptism, evening prayers etc) you will hear them. eg Eastern Prayer track start played bit of the "Canon of the Standing Hymns", which are the evening prayers (Χαιρετισμοί) to Mary mother of Jesus, that take place in churches every Friday from the first week of lent all way to the fifth week here is in full. I can definitely translate like 90% but I just don’t really feel like typing it all out. It’s mostly blessings and prayers tho, highlighting righteousness of Christianity. Most of what he says can basically be heard in any modern day Greek church where the priest is just reading/reciting from the bible.
