Yoga is about the whole of our lives: everything we do, all we experience. It is about stretching our understanding of who we really are, strengthening our connection to the innate wisdom of our conscience and rehabilitating our broader human capacities while working respectfully with the realities of our individual natures and our diverse responsibilities.

I believe in miracles
I believe in miracles...
I am reminded that I am a walking, breathing, pulsating miracle...
This amazing vehicle of a human body is a miracle, and it demonstrates our remarkable capacity as human beings to reconcile and integrate things that might seem impossible to bring into harmony.
The earth, water, fire and air of our bodily vehicles cohere in a space of beauty and sustained cohesion.
Our capacity for beauty, rhythm and harmony is greater than we might realise.
Yoga offers us a practical method to remember who we really are, reclaim our birthright and embody our responsibility as unique participants in the miraculous symphony of life.
Life knows how to live, the spirit never dies.
May we remember how to live with spirit, inhaling and expanding, letting go and exhaling in rhythm and harmony with the cosmic rhythm we are here to dance with.

Love Story: On intuition, fear and learning with William S Whorton

In this fifth conversation with William S Whorton, I ask him about his success in avoiding some of the ways human beings sabotage their own lives that he became keenly aware of as a teenager. I also asked Bill about his marriage. When I worked with Bill at Chulalongkorn University, I was aware how many of the students were so moved and inspired by the way he spoke of his beautiful wife, as I wa...

Heed Your Conscience - Thanking the Teachers 1 - Mrs Eggleston

In this first 'thanking the teachers/thoughts on the guru' episode, I give thanks to my third year junior school class teacher, Mrs Eggleston. But I had enough great ones to help me learn at least to some degree how to learn. Mrs Eg...

Cultivating a finer balance

Yoga is defined as samatvam - evenness, and as karmasu kauśalam - skilfulness in our actions. As long as we are alive, we are maintaining some quite impressive level of balance - homeostasis. Yoga begins, again and again, when we own and admit that the homeostasis we have allowed ourselves to become accustomed to is not the finest balance we might be capable of and we could do something about i...

God DNA within us gets activated through prayers! Good luck!
Such a beautiful speech. So articulated 💜
Thank you James, it’s so inspirational to hear you talking. I totally agree with the topic.I have seen people stepping away from yoga because of not getting “results” as they expected, the wrong idea of immediacy because “I have been practicing every day for a long time”. Blame on social media or the fast way of these days living. Unfortunately this is enormously affecting the yoga tradition with those intensive trainings. Thank you for your teachings, dedication and commitment.
This was excellent!
Hi, Ajarn James. I m one of ur students at arts CU, class 2003. Glad to know that now u r a 100% yoga guy. We all know that u r really into it. Btw I love this video and always listen when i practice meditation. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you James and Clare for this inspirational sharing!
You make it sound like an Irish folk song
Thank you for posting this. I am in the process of creating a chanting class for my ashtanga studio, and this will change my life and the lives of so many in my community. Thank you.
I loved this episode!
Thank you! You are such an engaging speaker and bring together so beautifully here, what is Yoga & why do Yoga 🧘🏽♀️
Hello James! I was researching this prayer like what is the source? And I found that these 2 verses are from Yoga Tārāvali. My first question, is it true? Secondly, we all know this is also the starting prayer of ashtanga asana prayer, in which there is added Abahu purushakaram.... Do you know who created/combined these 2 different prayers together? And last question, is there Om Shanti Shanti Shantih in the end of Abahu purushakaram prayer?
GO James...!!!
way to go James!!
sounds amazing James :)
Thank you! and greetings from the E Ridings. Recently I've been growing my courage finally addressing challenging situations in a few friendships. It has been hard to do but ultimately more painful not to. In the past its been easier to smile, ignore, let things pass and pretend....stay in the uncomfortable comfort zone ... but I feel very gratefu thatl Ive finally chosen to be courageous. And now I can trust myself more.
The sound comes from ur vocal is like the tune coming from the musical instruments soothing clear marvellous. Sri Mathre Namah🙏 maa lalitha devi bless u and give u siddhi in ur spiritual life.

Awesome James 🙏 fully agree ☺️ morality is easy in the good times, as is good will to others, the test is when all is dark and you end up on the wrong side of a probability curve 🤔 and when we fail, as we all can, to accept this and understand that we have only truly failed when we give up and turn our backs on the light of goodness we can all find within 🌞 but I believe, in time, we all turn back, as we are born again, (both figuratively and literally), in this life and the next 😊🌀
❤️❤️ Love From India

i just stumble upon this video and clicked on it just to pass the time but it started to get interesting and now i started pondering upon what u were saying. thanks.
108 Gopis where in Rasa Dance with Krsna and He expanded 108 times do dance with the 108 Gopis at the same time. This is why after the 108 beads there is one different bead(krsna) God . Yoga is all about the Yogesvara (the creator of yoga) and everything goes back to Him.
Hi James! Your vidéos are really interesting and I was wondering if it would be possible to share the sheets you are showing in this "What is yoga? serie" Thank you in advance.
