What size and brand is the windscreen? Does it keep the wind off your head?

Great review and thanks for posting
Hi, thanks for putting the video up 👍 I’ve been thinking of getting this bike lately, now you’ve had it over a year how do you rate it and what faults have you encountered? I ride a Triumph America in the UK but want a bigger bike as it struggled in northern France recently, many thanks 👍
Hi Pete, I have had the 1200t for 3 years now. I have done 15000 miles now and have had no trouble whatsoever with the bike. I have had it serviced at the manufacturer's recommended intervals and have looked after it, with a regular cleaning regime. The bike still looks good and on a recent trip another biker I met on the Channel Tunnel was surprised how good it still looked and that it was still in showroom condition. That's how he put it. I have had one new headlight bulb, a new set of tyres, and at 12500 miles I had to have the rear wheel bearings replaced but these things are just regular maintenance. This Summer I have been on a 2 week trip to Switzerland and the bike was superb. Not a cough or a splutter. Totally reliable, even though packed up with all my camping equipment which was quite a weight. On the first day I did 650km and the 2nd day took me to Brunnen at the north east of Lake Lucerne. I'm not saying it wasn't tiring but then again it wasn't that bad. I spent 10 days touring Switzerland and then came back in 2 days. The bike feels like a good friend that I can rely on now. Hope this information helps you to make a choice of bike. I have to say that initially I had a test ride on a Triumph America and did not get on with it at all. When I got on the Harley it felt right straight from the start. Very comfortable.
HarleyTripper Thanks for the detailed answer my friend very informative 👍 I went along to my local Harley dealers (Lakeside) and sat on the 1200T and it felt like a dinky toy! 🤷♂️😂😂 I didn’t like the upright position and the squaty bars....might be because I’m taller and heavier than what the bike is designed for.....smaller and lighter riders? 🧐 I’m researching the Yamaha V Star 1300 at mo which looks more my sort of bike 👍 Once again thank you mate, keep it upright and enjoy it 👌👍👍
Hi Pete. I can understand that. I am only 5 foot seven and weigh 10 1/2 stone so the bike is like it is made for me. If you are much bigger then your knees would be up near your ears. Good luck with whichever bike you settle on. It has got to be right for you.
Hi Anthrax. Yes, still got the bike. Done 13500 miles now. No faults with the bike at all. Did a tour last summer. Did 1200 miles in 12 days fully loaded with everything that I needed. I do now have a top box fitted for extra storage. Are you thinking of getting one?
I’m picking up my 2014 1200T on Tuesday. Only 230 miles on the clock, so I shall have to run her in gently, but I am so looking forward to next summer.
Hi Russell. Nice one. Your going to have the time of your life if my experience is anything to go by. I've kitted mine out with a big top box and went on a big tour this Summer. Ferry to Jersey for several days. Then back to Portsmouth and up to the Brecon Beacons for several days. Then an 8 hour ride up through the Snowdonia National Park to North Wales for several days and then back down to the Mendips for several days. Rode through Cheddar Gorge. 1200 miles in 12 days. Awesome riding. Awesome weather. Awesome times. Met loads of bikers on the way. Some great friendly guys. Bike was faultless. You can ride a 1200t for hours fully loaded with no problems. One tip though. Keep on top of those bare aluminium wheels. I had to spend 12 hours getting mine polished back up to scratch at the beginning of this Summer. Harley do a treatment wet wipe to go over the bare aluminium after you have cleaned them. Keeps them looking good for longer. Mine has done 12,500 miles in 2 years without a hiccough. Ride Long and Prosper!

Questions ... I noticed even when my FOB is in my house I notice that the red light on the speedo blinks every now and then still (draining the battery ?). Also if I let the bike sit several days without rding it the battery goes almost dead, just barely being able to start. Once I rode it around for about an hour or more the battery was once again strong. I since have connected a battery tender when left parked. But I am concerned if I go on a long road trip without being able to plug in a battery tender that I may end up with a dead battery. Is there any way to get the bike to shut off completely ? I noticed you are able to lock your windshield. I cannot (2015 model). It has no way of locking/securing the windshield when left parked. Oh, and the other night I heard the bike calling out my name ! Does your's do that as well ? Will let you know of other questions/things as I ride it more.
Hi White Rabbitt. On my bike the red light blinks on the speedo all the time I am not using it, whether the fob is near it or not. It shows that the alarm is armed. The difference is that on my bike it does not affect the battery even after a week of not starting it. I don't think the blinking red light is your problem. Seems to me you have either a faulty battery or it is not being charged properly. According to what you said it sounds as though the battery is losing its charge. Try a new battery or try taking the battery off and putting on a charger for 24hrs and see how it is then.
With regard to the locking windscreen. You have to get a clamp. that incorporates a lock. Mine cost me around £25.00
My bike sings to me every time I ride it.
Do you have a link to where I can buy one ? Brand name/Part Number for said latch lock ?
Just bought a 2015 1200T with 1,000 miles. And it is all your fault ! >|<
Hi White Rabbit. You made a good choice. I love my 1200t and have travelled far and wide. Did 9000 miles in the 1st year without so much as a hiccough. The other day I spent 6.5 hrs in the saddle with only a 1/2hr break with no ill effects. Travelled all the way from Ross-on-Wye down to Bristol and then all the way back to Hastings in East Sussex fully loaded up. Paniers full. Luggage rack full and large rucksack on my back. Easy. Couldn't get enough of it. Could have ridden all day.
Here is a link to the bike: baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2015-harley-superlow/6314646178.html I offered her $7,000.00 USD and she accepted. Will not have the bike for a week +/- as she has to pay off what she owes on a loan she got for it first. She said she owed $8,000.00 USD. She broke her foot and has knee problems and that is why it has low mileage as well as her reason for selling it. I plan on adding a crash bar, passenger back rest and luggage rack. ANyways, there you go ... ;-) *I also own a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7II (which I love and plan on keeping). I paid $6500 for it. The girl that owned it only put on 200 miles on its odometer when she sold it to me. It now has 5,000 miles on it. just saying Do not be surprised if the link is no good. She may haave taken it down as she did sell it to me yesterday pending her getting a clear titel after she pays off her loan on it.
Yes I believe I did. Here are 3 photos of my new used, haha, HD Super Low 1200 (by the way, I paid $7,000.00 USD for it. The owner was asking $8,000 but accepted my offer of $7,000.00 (It only has 1000 miles on the odometer) : lather2002.livejournal.com/5005187.html
White Rabbitt bloody wheather hurts the regulator recttifier so check it with a multymiter let me know If I can help
I love my 1200t. The only thing I would say is a must have is a new seat. I could hardly walk after riding with the stock seat for more than 4 hours. I purchased a Mustang seat. That made a huge difference!. I can ride it all day with that seat. I also bought the Vance and Hines pipes with a new computer. That made a big difference as well.
What do you mean a new computer???
Very good review.Thank you for taking the time to do this !!!!!!!!
Ok so I'm about to get a 1200T for my self, but can't find reviews (at least no from the new models) and really like your videos, I definitely love the bike. thanks for sharing them and for dissipating my (few) doubts about the bike! When I get it I'll upload a couple of rides here in Spain I want to ask you two things though, how it behaves on highway speeds? (basically for medium-long rides) and with the wind? (I mean weather wind, not "speed" wind)
Nice to hear from you. I just rode from the town of Hastings in the County of East Sussex to 10 miles further than the town of Weymouth in the County of Dorset on the South Coast of England, a distance of around 175 Miles loaded up with all my camping equipment. I did this with only one 20 minute stop without any trouble. Very comfortable. Even loaded up. Most of the journey was at 60 - 70 mph. Only one top up of the fuel tank. It was very windy that day and you have to be aware of the wind but no scary incidents at all. You find that a big heavy bike stays more stable in the wind.
HarleyTripper ok thank you so much in fact now I'm raiding on a small bike, only 300 cc, on windy days it's kinda difficult to ride it... I want to update into a heavier bike more reliable for my usual daily trip to work (about 90 miles each way)
Thinking of getting one my self👍
i am too, but at 5'9 im affraid i may be a bit too tall
Good video. Looked like a smooth leisurely ride.
Good video!
Greetings from Oklahoma. Just purchased my own Harley-Davidson Superlow XL1200T this week. I've enjoyed your rides through southeastern England. Definitely a different character from the rather open spaces the Cherokee Prairie and over to the Ozarks east of here.
Hi Talen1066, Great to hear from you. Hope you are enjoying your 1200t as much as I have done. Mine is now booked in for its first 5000 mile service and so far it has behaved faultlessly. It is almost as if Harley designed it for me personally it fits me so well. I have just looked up on Google where Oklahoma is. You are almost in the centre of the United States. I live only a couple of miles from the sea, the English Channel, so cannot imagine what it must be like to be so far from the shore. As you may have seen in the videos you cannot ride far here without going round a bend or curve in the road so I sometimes hanker after the long straight roads you have out there. Anyway, be careful on the bike and stay safe and enjoy.
