😂 the funniest part of the comment section here is listening to the local idiots whining about the success of Johannesburg in the 60s and 70s 😂 and now they whine that since the locals have taken over, everything has gone to hell rents are unaffordable jobs don’t pay and Johannesburg is now a failure, but it’s a failure because of the locals 😂 not because of the white man. 😂It was a raging success under the white man 😂

This isn't about the old regime of apartheid, this was when we were proud of our country. Back then we maintained our infrastructure and we had public servants in the public sector that actually did what they were paid for. It was not an "Afrikaner" thing,I have an English Father and Afrikaans mother. Everybody did their part, the streets were clean, we had a railway system, no power outages, the death penalty, SAA was rated as one of the top airways. Corruption, mismanagement and greed has brought us where we are today, certainly not Apartheid although that word has become the scapegoat for just over 30 years. What a waste.

It's 2024 the communists who were in self imposed exile have destroyed the country say what you want apartheid was better than anc democracy there's no disputing that fact. I know many people will say racial segregation and discrimination was not good etc my rebuttal is that what ever white people had black had also although it was not at par with white people's stuff but they had it god dammit I'm talking about sweeming pools, stadiums, clinics, schools etc It was seperate development to keep the tribes and white people's cultures safe from being bastardised now all our cultures are gone down the toilet maybe with Boers as an exception and the country is overrun by illegal migrants there's no development at all , crime economic and moral decay I could go on the list is endless Black south africans were hoodwinked those Marxists who took power in 1994

Black people were so oppressed that when they got into power they only thought about themselves. Hence the corruption and no love for country. I occasionally see how “second nature” it is for most black people to litter like the trash will somehow disappear. Apartheid was disgusting but how we as black people run this country is also disgusting.

I worked at the President holiday Inn , corner Eloff and Plein ( I think ) back in maybe 1979 , or 1980 for a couple years. President Holiday Inn long since gone. Joburg was fun a town then. i lived in Sanlam Park Norwood , the name has now changed I read. Hillbrow was fun for nights out. Think maybe not so much fun these days !!!

I will say what's on everyone's mind, but most people seem too afraid or too polite to say it: after chasing White Man away and ANC taking power the country fell into degrade, corruption and crime. If before "revolution" SA could be described as prosperous and technologically developed now it's chaos and despair. Same as Paris, Chicago, Haiti, Belize, Favelas of Rio, Swedish No-GO Zones, South London and well.. entirety of Africa. Strange coincidence.

You can't even walk alone now in this city. I am well traveled and I can honestly say it's the same in near enough every major city on the planet. Look what happens when you let the black man take control. It is the same in London, blacks still, and will always have a chip on their shoulder about what happened 200 years ago. They haven't evolved and I don't think they ever will. I moved out of London two years ago as the crime is horrendous now, you cannot walk the streets without fear of being robbed.
