Starlink Setup
มุมมอง 3.5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey guys! I just wanted to come on here and update you on the setup that I chose that best suited my double wide trailer that I'm currently living in. The setup was so easy for Starlink the hardest part wasn't anything technical but actually physically screwing the mount into the roof. If you have a drill and don't use a wrench that's the way to go. There has been an immense amount of rain and ...
IS STARLINK WORTH IT?
มุมมอง 24K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
After a long battle of having AT&T, Xfinity, and another third-party internet service come to the property to see if we can get a decent internet connection. AT&T said no, Xfinity said no, so we went with a third party provider that lasted us 5 days of internet per month for around $100 every month. Finally, we were sick of the internet lagging and basically not being able to do anything intern...

    My Gen 3 is on the way as I write this. Southern sky is completely clear, but north where it has to be aimed, may be sketchy, so I opted for the 1 month for $1 to test it out.

      Mine came without an ethernet port so I bought the adaptor for ethernet and ran that to my router and it works like a charm. I have had it for near 12 months now and I think I have seen one outage that lasted I think maybe an hour other than that it's been flawless. I use to get at bets 7mbs and now with starlink it's more like 80 to 120mbs. Stream 4K videos without a single hiccup.

    If I have my Gen3 setup for Residential in my home. Will it work if I take the dish and router and put it in my RV and camp in a different location than where I live? Does the app give you the ability to change locations temporarily. I dont want ROAM because I will use Starlink as my main internet at home. But I would like to take it with me the few times a year I go camping in my RV.

    • @Tommy_Wilson_
      @Tommy_Wilson_ หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t see why it wouldn’t work it’s all “satellite” related so you really would just need to make sure that it’s pointing in the right direction without a bunch of obstruction

    • @jefrykeren
      @jefrykeren 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      since there is no contract.. you could change to roam when you are about to go on a trip... then change back to residential when you are back.. so you will only billed for one month for roam when you are on the road...

    Its crazy to me that its so expensive to pretty much be at the bottom of the bucket for performance. Its literally just only better than other satellites and lte. Even 4g would probably better if setup correctly. Once 5g is everywhere in the USA, what would be the point of owning a starlink device with those latency jitter issues. The only reason I complain is because its way overpriced for the speed. If you can get 5g, please set it up properly with an antenna and call it good.

    • @Tommy_Wilson_
      @Tommy_Wilson_ หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah i dont know how to just get 5g and set up an antenna for wifi my cell phone has 0 service where i am. This was the best option for me as multiple big named companies denied me because i was so remote and all their sattelites were full

    • @Purified1k
      @Purified1k หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Tommy_Wilson_ Yeah being remote is an issue that needs to be fixed. There have been companies saying for years they were planning on bringing fiber optic out to remote addresses. Mostly not delivering on what they said so far. My main issue is how expensive starlink is.. $120usd or more is worth gig speeds which is there plan its just so far away. 5g towers will be everywhere soon. So that'll probably be the next best option for a while. When it does arrive.

    • @gstar7686
      @gstar7686 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong. Starlink is a godsend for rural folks who have no better options. I suffered through dial up and Viasat for nearly 20 years before Starlink became available and it was a game changer.

    • @Purified1k
      @Purified1k หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gstar7686 Not wrong. Everything I said is still correct. Even though its your best option it shouldn't be by now. Its unfortunately so expensive to be at the bottom tier list. When 5g is available all over rural US. I'd easily switch to it. I get its all you have but that's the unfortunate problem.

    I really appreciate this because I was about to purchase Starlink but I have trees all around my mobile home and the only clear line of sight to the sky is right above my home. So I guess I have entirely too many trees that would cause obstruction. So you just saved me $660 bro, but im super disappointed because that was my only hope of possibly getting internet service, since I live deep in the boonies in North Carolina and no company services my area. Thanks again for the upload and enjoy

      We were in Texas last summer and they had the same issue. They got a large pole and attached whatever service they had to the top of it. They’re also good on returns so it might be worth trying it and seeing if it works. If it doesn’t just return it they give like a 30 day trial so you can make sure it works

    I purchased my Starlink approximately 1.5 months ago and have found it works exceptionally well. Live in north central Florida with little options for stable internet. I get 160 mbps when I run a speed test. It works during torrential downpours with no lagging. We purchased the RV version as we are snowbirds. It cost us $25 more per month than what we paid for unreliable Hughesnet, but it has performed better than I could have imagined. Hubby and I can each watch our own TH-cam videos AND stream music AT THE SAME TIME with not a single hiccup! And we plan on taking it on the road.

    Yep it’s worth it. Had dsl with 20mbps. That dsl started dropping in mid use for about 5 minutes about 8 times at evenings. Had tech to come fix it. They didn’t fix it and just took 300 on a service call that was on their end. Luckily they refunded it. Starlink was installed yesterday. Had to put it on a 25 ft pole to clear obstructions. This morning in light rain I was getting 350 Mbps speed. But of course it doesn’t stay there it might drop to 80 at night but it works and it’s better than the dsl we had. Btw on Fortnite I was seeing 15 to 30 ping.
