Meet the new Valkyrie - Alpacka Raft's True Inflatable Kayak
Kind of a rinky-dink seat attachment. Also, i had a gnarwhal, and the foremost thigh strap hook CONSTANTLY detached.
Gut gemachtes Video. Grüße ronactive
Is the hull the same as in my Valkyrie 3?
How do you decide upon a name for these guys?
It looks like the perfect work tool for my packraft courses and I'll probably be paddling it more often than my Valkyrie.😍
oh another toy I hadn't budgeted for.. oh well I only live once😁 Looks ace, can't wait to try it!
That is so cool boat, I can't wait to get mine.
What if you’re 6’1, wear a size medium top, a medium bottom with a longer inseam? 😂
Let’s go!!
I'm seriously considering ordering the Mage as soon as i get the money saved up
Thanks for the video. How well do your packrafts hold up in below freezing temps? Does the material become too brittle to maintain its durability?
That's a good question. The coldest temperatures I've had my Explorer 42 in temperatures down to about 40°F and it did fine. I've seen people paddling around glaciers in Alaska. They were all wearing dry suits so I'm sure it was pretty cold. What's the coldest temperatures that you think you'll subject your boat to?
There are no problems with the frost. I have been paddling in -5 celsius/50F. It is not so enjoyable to paddle colder than that, and I don't usually do it too much. And the problem is that the water starts to be very hard when it is colder than 0C/32F. But I know people who has used packraft as a sled in winter packrafting trips.
@@caide i don't think we have much to worry about when it comes to the cold.
Nice video. Very detailed.
How to your REMOVE attachments?
Nice, concise video. Thanks. One question though, if Aquaseal is not recommended for patching because it requires air to cure, what glue do we use for bonding floor patch material to the floor?
Nice.
Can you guys add a video or anything on your website about the best way to roll up rafts being mindful of the tzip?
We already have it in progress! Should be available early 2025.
Hmm. Was just about to order a caribou without the zipper. My bad back would prob appreciate that new backrest though.
Definitely won't be buying a Mage, or ANYTHING alpacka.....just bought a gnarwhal...everyone says it's super stable, and THE big water boat, but it's NEITHER. In class 2 nothing waves, it's natural state is upside down. The boat WANTS to flip sideways! So unreliable. I've swam more in the last month w this boat than I have in the last 2 yrs using a robfin!...resulting in one dangerous situation!
AWWW damn, i just ordered a wolverine - A mage would have been great,.
There are still a lot of people ordering Wolverines, especially because you wont be able to get them in 2025. It's still a great packraft, the Mage is the updated version. We will have more details on the Mage coming in 2025.
Why no more Classic (I love mine :) ) What about the Mule?
The use cases for the Classic is covered largely by the Caribou and the Expedition. The Mule is still an option! This video only covers the boats that have major changes and the new boat for 2025.
😍😍😍
Exciting lineup! Looking forward to the Mage....
🤩🥳 Cant wait to test the new Mage. Looks awesome with the new seat/floor cushion. Cheers Tom
any video on removing attachment?
This.
i didn’t know any of this story and i loved this film! thank you sheri for basically inventing this sport and for the seven alpackas i own!
How do you handle a leak that is close to the black plastic seam please?
I mean, I’m all for an Alcrapa…
I assume you are applying it on to an inflated boat for demonstration purposes. You can apply the lubricant on when thr boat is deflated as well no? Thanks in advance 👍
I notice your roll of tyvek tape does not have a removeable backing. The only type I can find has a backing paper. Is this the correct tape?
Super rad!
Did you guys stop making this one?
interesting to hear about the extra coatings on the 840D floor for better durability. Do the tubes also get a heavier duty coating for durability? Thanks
Absolute maniac stabbing it! Hahahahaha
So glad I found this, finishing up my time with my chickens, dogs and a cayuga duck. Hopefully we an call a small.piece of acres home soon again.
Any concern about temperature? Will it be ok over the winter in a shed in Alaska?
What boat is close to the Carbou in weight but more durable?
I am very interested in this particular model, but I no longer see it listed among the available models on your website. Has it been discontinued? Can one still be ordered? Cheers, - Martin
My zipper still looks new (waaaaay better than boat #2 in the vid) but I am getting leaking around the perimeter of the zipper plate. I was planning on putting a thin layer of aqua seal on the inside where it won't interfere with the actual zipper, but may plug the leaks. Do you see anything wrong with doing that? Thanks!!
Check in with Will on this one at Service@alpackaraft.com - he can help!
Schon ziemlich tolles Packraft. Würde ich sehr gern mal testen. Grüße ronactive
So I just got my bought and got over excited and went out on the river twice without having done this. Will I have caused any irreversible damage to the zipper?
Did you use the zipper? I don't lube mine but I never open it
I need help understanding the sanding part. Where you recommend going beyond the boundary. How does this not leak air if we strip the tpu? Or does the Clifton act as tpu to replace that air tight quality just outside where the patch is placed?
That’s why he emphasized to only sand it lightly so you don’t wear through the entire outer TPU layer!
Just a quick question. Are you supposed to store the packraft with the zipper closed or open?
My guess would be as long as you have confirmed that the inside of the pack raft is completely dry & you have cleaned & lubricated your zipper they’d likely recommend you store it with the zipper closed so that no little specs of dirt, dust or sand, or anything make their way into the zipper
Closed, as shown in the video.
Nice work on all the new videos!
Take care of your boat and it will take care of you!
You don't want your packraft conking out when you need to make a critical move! I like Alpacka's lineup. Keep the educational videos coming.
Interesting. I assumed they were normally heat welded on. Is there no worry during the sanding process about some of the air leaking near the edges of where the sanding happens?
Thanks, Will.
I like the video but the valve is driving me crazy. .........what is the deal with the valve? Please advise. Even when closed.......(it's to the left......that is counter intuitive) .I still lose air......before I get the cap on.....Please advise.......
Is that the expedition raft? Looks amazing
Thank you for the video. It's actually so simple, but many packrafters still do it wrong. Many of my customers don't want to buy a packraft with a Tizip because they are afraid it could damage the zipper. I always explain to them that the zipper has a very long service life if you take care of it and pay attention when loading and unloading. One important point is still missing from the video. After the tour, the zipper must always be dried thoroughly, as a damp zipper can become porous due to bacteria. In my opinion, this is the most important point in zipper care after regular greasing. Best regards. Tom
I agree, this can happen in a matter of months but they will last years of regular use if cared for
Can i have a packraft to test on my river here in Australia for a video please 😆
