I met 3 times World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss... Come ride with me! #bikelife #motorcycle
I finally met one of the most admired World Superbike Champions, Troy Bayliss, who won the 2001, 2006 and 2008 WSBK Championships on 3 different model Ducatis.
I was invited by Ducati Adelaide to go for a ride with him and a group of around 30 Ducati enthusiasts, through the beautiful Adelaide Hills. I was super lucky to get my Ducati V2 Panigale special Troy Bayliss Edition signed by Troy himself.

Motorcycle helmets - what they do, which one I chose and why.

It was time to reluctantly retire my old SHOEI motorcycle helmet. After waiting patiently for a good sale, I finally snapped up a new helmet, which gave me the inspiration for this new video. As an engineer of over 25 years, I decided to show (using very simplific laws of motion and energy) how an object's kinetic energy is reduced to zero during a collision, and how a helmet can reduce & distr...

    I ordered from amotopart and I will never order from them again. This guy doing this is doing a review for amotopart. My fairings are shitty. There are water marks under the clear coat. Gouges under the clear coat. So the paint job was bad and they still clear coated. They do not respond to any communication. Phone calls emails or their website. Don't buy from amotopart they suck. I paid $570.00 and I just went with the regular fairings that was originally used. So it wasn't some special paint job, it was basic and they messed that up.

    • @diymoto3952
      @diymoto3952 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Firstly, please don't accuse me of doing this review for Amotopart. I paid $900 AUD for my fairings and I took the same risk that you did, after watching other reviews on TH-cam. I'm sorry you received poor quality fairings and I don't know why Amotopart are not responding to you. This is the first negative review I've received and I'm disappointed to hear. Now, as you can see from my video, my fairings were excellent. I pointed out all of the blemishes; I didn't hide anything. They weren't perfect, but very close to the originals. I even did another video 6 months later to show how they've held up. Troy Bayliss himself saw my fairings last week (video is being edited now) and he didn't notice they were aftermarket. The dealership didn't notice either. So please don't question my honesty. I'm not a big TH-camr with a huge following, so what do I have to gain? I don't work for Amotopart, so I don't have any insight into what has changed there. All I can say is that I really hope they get back to you, and if you'd like me to try to contact them, I'd be willing to try to help.

      That is very true, and you can also make a very simple tool to compress the Rivnut. The only reason I didn't show it in my video is because the airbox is plastic, and I was concerned that if people over-tighten the Rivnut, they may crush the airbox plastic... and then I'll be blamed for giving bad advice 😂. You've got a point, but I borrowed that workshop from a friend, and there's nothing fancy there. He's got a simple bench grinder that seems to be part of an old lathe, and an air compressor with a dremel air tool. You could probably skip the air tool step and just use any old bench grinder. But thanks for your comment. I will be more aware of this in future videos.

    Anything you'd recommend for someone that has an oil stain on their exhaust? TLDR: oil got on my exhaust while it was hot and now seems to be permanently stuck on there. Would I need to go through this whole process or is there a way to just remove the oil?

    • @diymoto3952
      @diymoto3952 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People have had amazing results with Harpic 10x cleaner, which has 10% hydrochloric acid as the main constituent. Be careful though, and wear gloves. But before trying that, I would try Autosol metal cleaner if it's just an oil stain and only try the Harpic cleaner if that doesn't work. The whole process I've shown in the video is only necessary if you have deeper pitting and gouges in the surface of the metal, but not for stains.

      I was very nervous about ordering my fairings from Amotopart. The company claims its headquarters are in the US, California, but when I received the box, it had Chinese writing all over it. I believe the parts are all made and painted in China, but as you see in the video, I was quite happy with the products. I just don't know how long they'll last, but that will come with time. There was another company I was looking at, MotoXP Ricambi in Italy. Their fairings look amazing, and being Italian manufactured, I'm sure they're much better quality than Amotopart. However, they're more than double the price! For my V2 fairings, they cost more than $2000 AUD before shipping! I paid $900 AUD with shipping, so there's a very big difference. It depends what you want to spend.

      I watched a heap of videos before attempting this and people use all sorts of different items to shape the hat. You can definitely use a bowl if it’s roughly the size of a head. I used the mannequin head because it is round, but also narrow around the forehead and temple area. Saw one guy use a bucket with paper stuffed on top. Another guy just stuffed paper into the hat until it formed the shape of a head. Stretch the hat over the bowl and if you’re happy with the shape, I think it should be fine to use. The steamer & starch spray method seems to work better. Thanks for the upload.

      Yes, and the steamer was very average quality. A good steamer would do a much better job! Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Thanks mate, great video. I've been comparing AM fairing suppliers online and like the look of the amotopart ones. What shipping option did you go with?

      Hey mate, I went with the standard free shipping, which states 20-25 days I believe. It took around 5 weeks in reality. Something I forgot to mention is that you can customise your design of the fairings, which is pretty cool. And just remember, if they’re copying a factory Fairing design, chances are they’re doing it from a photo, which is why mine weren’t precisely the same. One more thing… being ABS plastic, be careful if your fairings have plastic tabs. They are strong, but not as strong as the original OEM. Hope this helps.

      @diymoto3952 great, thanks. I'm happy with one of their designs so will give it a punt.

    How much heat do you experience riding the Panigale?

      Riding through town on a warm day (anything over 25degC) is very hot. I now try to limit my riding to the country only, as the bike is designed to keep moving. It doesn’t like the constant stop starting at traffic lights! 😃
