So gen 1 doesn’t use RTC so you’re fine there but gen 2 (Gold/Silver/Crystal) does. I’m pretty sure the versions that are included on this are the romhacks that basically have you set the time every time you boot, to technically allow play without the RTC. It seems like the cheapest cart with an actual RTC is the EZ Flash Jr: amzn.to/3MYb5Qd

All fair points. I personally didn't mind the 4 face buttons but I know a lot of people, especially fighting game fans were very upset about it. Although it was the four button layout that ultimately prevailed. I have other videos that address some of your other points also, haha. Just don't watch my video about my love for the DC controller 🫣

Make sure it’s activated in the settings, then boot the DC and initialize the VMU, then it works just as normal (obviously no screen or anything just saves games like a VMU would normally)

I think just one VMU is supported (didn’t try to fill it up so not sure of total number of blocks). Jump pack should be available for all four controllers though.

@@nopenop1495 I saw an interview that Bernie said he regretted having such a massive launch lineup because it caused software sales to plummet in Q4 99 & Q1 2000 right before the PS2 launch (there were too many options and limited budget per person) then a bit of a vacancy of new titles when the PS2 launched which only boosted the PS2 launch. I feel like one little tweak in the universe and the Dreamcast would have been what the PS2 became in terms of success.

If you plan to play it a lot as a regular system, I’d suggest the FPGBC. If you have a GBC already that you want to restore, or are trying to stay on original hardware, I’d slightly suggest modding it like this, but know that because of the age of the motherboard components you may end up running into issues that have to be addressed immediately or down the road. I haven’t tried LSDJ but I haven’t had issues with anything that doesn’t require a RTC

Playing Dreamcast on my 800x600 CRT monitor through VGA was insane. I felt like it took until the Xbox 360 to get that type of clarity again

Watch the video before commenting 👌 I was a PS1 fan when I got it in 1995. Dual Analog controller didn’t come out until Aug 1997, and it was pointless until 2001. There was no standard and no games used a second stick in any modern way before DC launch (aside from Alien Isolation & Rainbow 6 alt controls mentioned in video). What you’re expecting with 3rd person dual stick controls didn’t exist until after the Dreamcast’s discontinuation unfortunately. Even the game you reference didn’t add dual stick controls for MDK2 Armageddon on PS2 until after DC was discontinued. So calling it bullshit that Sega didn’t have a second analog stick with modern controls only proves my initial point of the video.

Yeah I've heard Sega's president was trying to get MS to include DC backward compatibility when they were negotiating exclusive games pre-launch of the Xbox. If I recall I think MS not being ready with their online infrastructure (and yes incompatibility with Sega's system)

I said most games before 2002 did not utilize dual analog sticks which is absolutely true. Mario Sunshine (2002) was the first 3D platformer to use modern dual analog controls, and Halo standardized the control for FPS games at the end of 2001. The point is that I could only find 2-3 games that used dual sticks (movement left, camera right) when the Dreamcast was discontinued in March 2001

I could see that! I just like the screen right up against my face so if I don’t have access to a tv I can just hold it comfortably (and use headphones, etc). Any time I’ve tried tabletop I end up hunched over trying to be close to the screen haha

Yeah they're not the best but this makes them much better without having to get wonky third party options. I play mostly docked but this makes handheld much much more enjoyable

The shell is great quality, but I didn’t care for the buttons (had some rough edges, etc). I haven’t seen all the different colors but I like the normal clear that I got. My other one is solid white which also looks nice.

@@TynologyGaming very cool, that white one, I would make it all matte finish apply matte techniques, it'll look like soft PBT favored by mechanical keyboard enthusiasts or the premium plastic that's the back casing of a Wiimote :-)

I'm exactly the same! Comfort 100% so now this thing just lives on my console nonstop, it's a game-changer!
