Bei meinem Besuch bei der Firma Cerveny in Graslitz hatte ich die Gelegenheit, einige Tuben ausgiebig zu testen. In diesem Video präsentiere ich euch ein paar Klangbeispiele der neuen F-Tuba. Diese Polka ist während der Corona-Zeit entstanden - für eine kleine Besetzung, aber nie zur Aufführung gekommen. Also hab ich einfach alle Instrumente selbst eingespielt. Tuba liegt mir natürlich, aber auf dem Tenorhorn und Flügelhorn... sagen wir mal, ich hab mein Bestes gegeben! Im Original war ein Akkordeon geplant, aber da keins rumlag, musste die Melodika herhalten. Viel Spaß beim Zuhören...

In this video, I compare four mouthpieces for a Brass Band Eb Tuba: 1. JK S8.8 17025 (modified Bach 24AW) 2. Brass-Evolution No. 4 3. Alliance T3 4. Denis Wick 3L All of these mouthpieces are quite similar, with only subtle differences in the details. I'm playing a Bossey & Co. Tuba, built in 1920, with a new Besson valve block, assembled by W. Couldn't tell when you were playing what instrument. My guess is that the mouthpiece is waywayway too big. You're gulping for air desperately and it doesn't sound good.
Thank you for your feedback! I’ll work on making it clearer which instrument I’m playing in future videos. As for the mouthpiece, I appreciate your thoughts-it’s always a balance finding the right fit for tone and comfort. I’ll definitely reflect on your observation about air use. The 15” has a real nice clarity to it that would be useful in a tuba section context. I’ve always thought that brass bands with giant E flats sound too diffuse. The 17” would be a great quintet or Orchestra instrument.

Oh, sehr nice! Für eine F klingt das ja richtig fett. Mit meiner F von B&S bekomme ich das so nicht hin (kann natürlich auch an mir liegen). Was war das denn für ein Modell und was kost die?

tolles Video! Ich (blutiger Anfänger an der Posaune) bin verblüfft, wie "knackig" eine Tuba auch klingen kann. Dachte vorher immer scharfes Artikulieren wäre nur mich zylindrischen Instrumenten möglich und mit konischen Instrumenten eben nicht. Wurde hier aber gerade deutlich eines Besseren belehrt! Vielen Dank!

Interessantes Video! Ich hatte angenommen, Cerveny gäbe es nicht mehr und die Instrumente werden inzwischen von Lidl gebaut. Außerdem war Cerveny doch in Hradec Králové ansässig. Bauen die jetzt bei Amati in Graslitz? Wie ist denn der Vertrieb organisiert und bei welchen Händlern kann man die Instrumente in Deutschland kaufen? Als alter Cerveny-Fan würde es mich sehr freuen, wenn dieses traditionsreiche Unternehmen weiter existieren würde.
Danke für deinen Kommentar und dein Interesse! Cerveny und Lidl sind tatsächlich zwei eigenständige Firmen, und Cerveny produziert weiterhin Instrumente im Amati-Werk in Graslitz. Soweit ich weiß, können die Instrumente auch direkt bei Cerveny erworben werden.

I really enjoyed that.
Played on a VB 24AW for many years, but 3 years ago it started to let me down (I was getting older). In the following years I have bought a dozen or so mouthpieces in an attempt to find "the one" for my EEb. There are so many to choose from and it is so very confusing. What I found is, is that my sound does not change much between different mouthpieces (I, too, have YT videos such as this one). What does change is how it feels to me: production, flexibility, centring, pitching, etc. The mouthpieces I bought feel very different to me, but the listener (say, in a concert hall) would not necessarily hear a difference. I have tried JK, Perantucci, Conn, Curry, Yamaha, and one or two others, but ended up with Breslmair. Why? Because it feels right to me. Mouthpieces are a very personal thing. To my ear the BE4 is the best for you, but you may feel differently as you blow.

Excellent playing Stefan! Nr. 1. sounds best to me. I have used a Tilz WH-B1 for a long time on the bottom Eb part, but recently switched to a PT84 for the upper part. I play a modified 1980 B&H Imperial.
Thank you for your opinion. According to Bob Tucci, the Brass Evolution is based on the PT84. What modifications have you had made to your tuba?
@@SK-gq9dh It had the original small bore leadpipe. Mike Johnson Custom put a new large receiver leadpipe on and shortened the bugle in a couple of places to bring the pitch up.
