I'm glad you've started playing hollow knight again! If you aren't sure where your shade is, it is shown on the map as a black version of your character's head. Also don't forget to check out Sly's shop! If you find yourself completely lost, there's not shame in checking guides for help, as this game does not give the player much in direction. I hope you continue to play and enjoy the game 😁

Yay, more hollow knight. Im not surprised you put it down for a while. Whilst i love this game to bits, i think it does a horrible job at showing the player where it wants them to go next. I know it is a metroidvania, so exploration is part of it, but at the start, it just feels like a maze. That being said, your shade with your geo is in the forgotten crossroads in the utmost top right of that area. And if you don't care too much about the geo, i suggest going to greenpath, because through greenpath there is an entrance to the next area, although you just wanna pass through it as there isn't much you can do there apart from just being on the way to the area the game wants you to go to next. You also discovered the shopkeeper sly who sells a lot of neat things in Dirtmouth. This game is great, but on numerous occasions i have googled things to just find out how to get a certain item or how to get somewhere that currently seems inaccessible.

I recommend buying and using shaman stone. It is really good and powerful

Good thing u benched at a stag station, would be an even bigger nightmare to get that geo back if it was from the lake of um bench

After you get your shade back, the bottom right area of the crossroads below the stag station will have 2 very helpful characters in it. One of them will sell you the lantern needed to light up that dark room, but I would advice going to that dark area once you have 1 or 2 more traversal upgrades. Hope that helps! You're playthrough inspired me to start my second run of the game and I'm loving it!

you should check the far down left corner of the crossroads, I think you've already been there

I see you were having trouble with the Vengefly boss while saving Zote. You need to learn to pogo. If you strike downwards with your nail while in the air, you can hit enemies or hazards such as spikes. You can do this to keep yourself in the air, and to damage enemies that frequently pass underneath you. Timing is important, but with practice it will get much easier.

I think that you might want to learn how to pogo off of enemies.

GG, I hated this bossfight at first, and ngl, I did at one point take a break from this game, coz it just made me rage quit, but I came back like a year later and completed it.

getting your health to one mask is no big deal, honestly just quit to the main menu and load your game, you will respawn at the last bench you rested at and of course all of your health will be full. I made use of this when I was attempting the hollow knight steel soul and steal heart achievements which just means you can't even die once to get the achievement, although I didn't make use of it enough. the amount of times I was greedy and not bothered and just wanted to get the achievement quickly got me to die numerous times. there are some unforgiving areas in this game which will really make you wanna pull your hair out so getting used to quitting and reloading is a good habit, but if you wanna play it normally I get it. still though, it's literally a lifesaver.

To answer your questions around 11:00, it's because you were at the spikes earlier. Technically the spikes are still an enemy, so it lets you bounce (or pogo, as the community calls it) off of them 😁You can pogo off of spikes, enemies, and even some of the breakable set pieces around the map

Btw u can downslash to pogo things such as spikes and enemies without taking damage. Also to recover ur geo u have to find ur ghost and kill it, however if u die again before doing so it's actually gone for good lol Have fun playing!!

Hey, I'm enjoying your hk series! Did you know those hotsprings heal you & give you soul if you stand in them for long enough? Only noticed this after my first playthrough so might as well let you know now! You can also get back your geo when you kill your shade so it isn't lost completely. Maybe try to edit down some segments of your gameplay if you are afraid of long series... It could def increase the viewer count, and yeah, hollow knight is a long game...

Awesome first episode! I know by the time you read this you are already on episode 3, so idk how helpful it will be, but I wanna give you some spoiler-free advice to hopefully make the game more enjoyable for you. 1. Be curious and pay attention to details! This game has lots of secrets to discover (like the breakable wall at 20:02 or all the side areas you passed in the starting area.), so it’s never a bad idea to investigate rooms and objects more closely. If something looks suspicious or interesting, there is never any harm in smacking it with your nail a few times to see if it reacts. 2. You will backtrack. A lot. This game is not particularly linear and it will occasionally toss you into places that you don’t have the ability to explore yet, so it is never a waste of time to go back to places and check if you can do anything new in them or if there was anything you missed. 3. Pleasepleaseplease don’t skip dialogue I am begging, I know it is tempting and reading is hard, but it can and will often contain important information about what to do, where to go next, and similar. (For example at 17:15 conniver tells you that Iselda offers the compass, which helps see your location on the map) At least skim it for anything interesting please- Anyway I think this was a very cool first episode and I’m excited to see the rest of the playthrough!

This is like Quake but modern. Looks great fun!

When you equip charms on the bench, you'll have the effect until you decide to swap them out a bench later, so once you equip the compass charm by pressing A on it at a bench, you can see yourself on the map from anywhere. Also, you'll unlock abilities throughout the game that allow you to travel to new areas, so if it looks like you have to do something to move forward that you can't yet, just make note of it and continue exploring your current area. I love hollow knight and I hope you're enjoying your playthrough!

YIPPEEEEE HOLLOW KNIGHT So happy you found Myla! She's so sweet and gives a lot of fun dialogue throughout the game, you should definitely stop by to say hello to her every once in a while :D Whenever you're ready, you should head to the southeast of the Crossroads and explore around there, there's some useful bugs around there that'll help with exploration. Once you're done around there, there's a room to the left of the False Knight's boss room that'll help you with defeating that sandshrew bug in the grassy room and give you a fun power-up 💪💪💪Gotta work a little bit for it though Also for the money at 45:15, you can bounce off the tops of other bugs if you hit downwards with your nail! It's really useful for boss fights and exploration of other areas (you'll use it a lot later in another section of the game), and it'll help you get to that geo mound for some extra coins
