As some of you may know I have deviated from music and become a passionate wildlife photographer.
This video is a short highlight reel of my recent trip to Batam and Singkep; A tiny island in the lingga Archipelago of Indonesia and the birth place of Shikhei Goh. I was so honored to be invited to travel with him ( and Yongi Ng ) and meet his family and be shown all the amazing local delicacies and insect habitats of this remote island. I'm incredibly lucky to be close friends with the best macrophotographers on Earth. I still don't know how I ended up here in such a short time. I only bought my first camera in 2017 and I've already travelled to Asia 4 times and taken over 25,000 photos of insects.
I leave you with this thought. - "If you do something, do it well."
You never know where it might take you. Find people that lift you up. Not put you down. - The macro community is the most supportive and positive I've ever been a part of. I'm inspired daily by everyones photos. I thank you for all the encouraging comments and positive vibes on my photos. I'm really blown away and I love that I've been able to help people with their fear of spiders and other insects. I get messages all the time from people saying how my photos changed their perspectives on bugs and they now have respect for them and leave them alone to co exist. It's hard to express how important insects are for our eco system. Everything has its place whether It be for pollination or part of the food chain!
Photography has taught me patience, grace, and got me in touch with nature and the life that surrounds us. I'm out of the house getting exercise, fresh air and seeing the beauty of the world through my lens. I have made so many new friends and have a network of support and positive people around me and this is something I did not have when I was a touring musician.
I cannot wait for the next adventure. Bring it on! 🕷🐞🐛🦋
