Don't take that apart to clean the bearings. They are almost impossible to get back to original configuration. I actually had to put the spacer on my surface grinder to take off a couple thousands so the two halves would tighten back down so the two retaining bars would fit in the slot properly. I have no idea how it worked right to begin with. And, the only way I could get it to work was to not replace a couple of the balls. Not having the plastic tube I had to improvise with a piece of metal tubing the correct diameter, but the real issue is having to place the balls in the two halves separately, and then place one half on the screw, then the second half. If you are going to replace a ball screw with a new one, I would not recommend using the two piece type unless you absolutely have to.

Wow, the PM25MV CNC did an excellent 3D carving on this. I planning to get the same mill and convert it to a CNC, it will be the most logical investment get both worlds of metal and wood tasks. The spindle is driven at what RPM? Not sure how I can change it to obtain 30K RPM, I know there are speed multipliers but they are expensive. If I did inlays on a cutting board what would be the max mill area that could be obtained?

    • @makosharkcnc7730

Nice job. Can't tell what RPM you're using due to frame rate - should be as fast as you can spin. Suggestion: Find another way to hold that down - screwed from underneath to fixture plate, for example. And get out of the very bad habit of putting your hand that close while the machine is running. One day you'll do something in steel and (because this is HABIT) you'll have your hand in there, and a sudden stringy chip will fly out and slice you up. Or you make a CAM mistake and break a bit and it flies into you...... Finally - how bout a blast of air to clean those chips away.... Just speaking from a little experience here. What you did worked and turned out great. Now make it out of hardwood for much better appearance and finish!

I kind of believe there is no need for double nut. Isn't it double nut were used before to remove backlash? Are there still backlash with ball screw?

You might have a point. I bought the double it wasn't much more money maybe $15-20 more. My mill is nice and tight I'm very happy

@@makosharkcnc7730 agree. Somehow being inexpensive can change our outlook. Like Nevermind it's an overkill. 😊😊😊
