Central Ohio Bushcraft Gathering 2021
มุมมอง 4483 ปีที่แล้ว
A great 4 days spent with friends old and new. Learning new skills and getting to check out some cool gear. Events for the kids as well. This is a small bit of my experience this year at the 4th annual COBG. There seems to be a loss of audio later in the video. I have no idea what happened there but apologize for that. Tarp Shelters.......My top 5 go-to shelters
มุมมอง 3183 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I briefly go over my top 5 go-to tarp shelters. While there are numerous other shelters that can be created with a simple tarp and some cordage, these are my choices should the need arise.....or I just feel like sleeping under my tarp for the night. Music by: Trinity- "Into The Red" Richard Smithson- "Shout"
CABELA'S......Multi-purpose Wagon. Is it worth the $$$$?
มุมมอง 8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I put the Cabela's wagon through its paces on some pretty rough terrain. I demonstrate the assembly, function and give my opinion of this product. I purchased mine from a Google search, ultimately from Cabela's. Don't take my word for it, try one out for yourself. Intro Music by: Trinity-"Into The Red"
Stansport stove......2 burner with Piezo ignition
มุมมอง 2.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Good camping stove for the money. Adjustment knobs operate smoothly and overall look and functionality of the stove is good. Found this one brand new for $75 from www.homedepot.com from a google search. Music by- Trinity- "Into The Red" David Fesliyan- "Get Ready"
Findley State Park.....scouting trip
มุมมอง 1813 ปีที่แล้ว
I, for sure, did not get to everything. We didn't get to many of the trails but are planned for future visits. This trip was more for scouting the location for future camp outings. There are MANY campsites here but comfortable among the chaos. Recommend checking it out for yourself......and don't forget your boat. Located in Wellington, Oh in Lorain Co. Reservations can be made at ohiodnr.gov M...
Malabar Farms.....Hidden gem of Richland County Ohio

First Aid Kits....gear for every outing
มุมมอง 1703 ปีที่แล้ว
These are the current setups I carry depending on the situation. First aid kits can be the difference between making it and not making it. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Update: I replaced the syringes with glucose tablets as I feel they would be more likely to be used.

I'd add pool noodles to the shoulder loops to make it easier on the armpits.
Thanks bbg
How did it go over time? Did it last?keep you happy etc?
Great review, thank you very much!
Great video
Thanks what kind of gas or propane to use
Curious about your experience so far... Is it easy to get a really low simmer on this stove? The Coleman atrocity they call a stove has 2 settings - OFF and BURN everything to a crisp.
I own one of the older models with the knob style starter (I want another one, which led me to your video - great video btw). the attachment for the brass propane tube likes to wobble when you move that tube. The little movement is OK -- I had to take mine apart to figure out why my starter was failing. When I took it apart, I noticed there's a sort of saddle that supports the connector inside. That saddle is welded to the base - so it's fairly solid. Turns out the left side burner's lead had somehow fallen off of the connector. Two things about the starter on my older model - might be the same insides - thought it might be useful to others: 1) there's an extra, unattached lead on the inside, right next to the left one on mine that detached. So I'm figuring Stansport makes a 3-burner model - perhaps the one with the grill? - that this starter is completely compatible with. 2) The right side stopped working shortly after the left - but not at the same time ?? but fixing the left side somehow fixed both so they're likely on some kind of series circuit - if you can find the spark, they both spark at the same time so "series" makes sense. I don't recommend trying to take this stove apart to clean it. If you gotta repair it, OK, fine. To remove the base from the stove, you'll have to unscrew and remove the wind shields and the burners - a total of 16 screws - the burners are attached from the bottom. Plus when I removed the base, I cut my finger on the top steel plate. Very sharp from the bottom. be careful.
So, you're a cheapskate. And, true to form, you bought the cheapest tent in the line. Then you make a face when talking about the stakes? What do you expect....they have to cut costs somewhere. You should have reviewed the tent using the stakes provided, THEN complain or recommend others as needed.
Great video! I’d planned on setting up the tent once prior to my trip just so I’d have some practice but it’s been miserably hot in Louisiana this summer so I never got around to it. Wish I’d watched this video before leaving lol. But still it was pretty intuitive so didn’t take much longer to set up than had I done it before. I liked that it’s very water resistant because we had a few heavy downpours over the 4 nights I camped. Getting in and out was a little challenging for me given my age and knee and back issues but not undoable. Plenty of interior space and thankfully I returned the 1P tent for this 2P especially since I was not backpacking. Look forward to checking out your channel. Cheers!
they made an updated version of this now where the handle extends
good to see the feedback created a change
How a long of aluminum poles?
Thank you for the video!
Very cool. I’m only 2 hours from there. I’ll have to check it out this summer
definitely worth the trip. be sure to secure your campsite before you go and dont miss hiking the trails
Thank you Sir! I’m old and just bought one of these. I needed help! Lol 💯💯💯🙏🙏
Jens Williamson, III (Deaf) Important is to add rain fly with that tent. That will be okay. You get it! 🙂 Thanks for your time. Have a great day! Respectfully, Jens C. Nice video.
great reveiw bro! cool channel, iv subscribed 🙏
The most important part is where the pole connects to the seat. Why can nobody review that spot. Rock cloud.
How is this holding up?
Very well for the price point. I haven't had anything fall apart or break yet.
Does anyone have experience backpacking with their dog with this tent? I'm a little worried about the weight, but my last tent also weighed roughly 5 lbs.
Greetings from camper I already ordered the same one Waiting for delivery Will share review videos
👍🏻👍🏻
Sick kit
Thanks bro 🤘
Thank you for the vid! A great piece of advice in the end: I also noticed the strong smell but did not think to air it out.
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by the channel 🤘 the smell in mine was overly strong. I knew it would be a rough first night if I didn't air it out. Happy adventuring
Can you take the canvas completely off to clean it
yes, it comes off pretty easily

Glad you like the blade brother! Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the video! 🤘 See you soon at the next bushcraft gathering!
For sure. Guarantee that knife will be with me at that gathering too.
@@the419outdoors awesome! 🤘
It ripped that fatwood up. But I'm still not gonna call it an elephant.
I'm sure you can come up with something much more creative and that worries me hahaha
👍🏻👍🏻
Bought one for $24 tax included!
What a deal! It's worth that for sure
Is this mohican state park? I’ve stayed here before
Yes, this was at campsite 8. I've stayed at them all and it is one of the best
Hello, I just got one of these. Do you find that the little clips that hold the inner to the outer on the middle either side are necessary? I found that when I tensioned the tie out points it pulled the groundsheet too high inside
Hello! I don't find the clips necessary but it does add a bit of inside space. Not much though. Most times I don't connect them, but yes it does raise the floor up inside. Not enough to bother me but it is noticeable. I found it to be personal preference whether or not the clips are uses
Can you put on the outer shell first?
You can but it does make it a bit harder to get the tent body up. It can be done though
@@the419outdoors Thanks a lot :)
Excellent review!!
Thank you
Hi. Great vid. Looks quite tall, what’s it like in a strong wind? Regards
Fantastic review!! What a beautiful spacious tent!! It seems perfect for couples as there's so much headroom and it is even the space for two wide mats!! I love it! But I bet it's still expensive!! How much is it??
I believe I paid around $180 or so for this tent
@@the419outdoors huh???? 😱😱🤯 what??? How ??
@@bluebellcrushedvelvet right place, right time. I tend to scour the net when I'm lookin to buy gear. Takes time but the deals are out there.
I like the cook set. Where did you get the bag the intire set was in?
its the bag the cook set came in. I really like that it is mesh.
Great item selection! I would love to get your feedback on my bag set up and see if you have any ideas on what I could add. th-cam.com/video/n5Gzj6ybmAo/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! Most of these are still in my top ten, though it mostly depends of the time of year. I would be happy to check out your set up and provide any feedback I can think of. Thanks for checking out my video
Liked and subscribed 👍
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Good review! Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate you checking out my video.
I walk my dog daily, and many of these items are in my bag or on my person every day.light, poncho, compass, small first aid kit, shoelaces, extra dog leash, snacks, 2-5 liters of water depending upon weather, dog bowl, extra socks, gloves, scarf, bandana, neck gaiter, cap and knit hat, cordage and straps, in case I see something at a yard sale or on the curb and it doesn't fit in the pack, a knife, two bic lighters, notepad, two pens, cell phone, kubotan, diamond sharpening stone, sidearm, extra magazine and brass knuckles and space blanket. And this just for walking the dog in small town Iowa where it is pretty much crime free and I won't get lost. Why carry all that? 1) I might need a piece of it someday, 2) it is such good practice to carry a 15-22 pound pack every day. If I have to carry a 40-60 pound pack someday to get groceries or supplies home I'll at least have some practice.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it 🤘
Hi there. I just happened upon your channel whine you were reviewing the Nemo tent. I know see you have an Naturehike tent. Which do you prefer? Also, I watched your 10 things you carry in your pack at all times. I think you should add a first aid kit to your list. Thanks
Hi John! If weight and space restrictions weren't a thing I'd take the NEMO over the Naturehike. Nothing more than a space thing. The naturhike tent has been through the worst and came out of it everytime good to go. First aid kit goes with me in my vehicle and on my pack no matter what. Not an "optional" item for sure
Good video i enjoyed watching.
Thank you for checking out the video 🙏
do you plan on going back for the scout class?
Yes, though I'm not sure when it will be. Probably in a warmer month 😂
@3:27 How satisfying that piece is.
Nothing matches that first one. Not complaining about the subsequent ones but yea I drooled a bit 😂
It's a good thing I wasn't there. My credit cards would be maxed out in a very short time. Good to see Dan Lutz there.
I realized I didn't bring enough $. On the other id be even more broke than I am
Nice summary of the weekend.
It was an a awesome weekend. We crossed paths several times. Dont think we talked, next time we must introduce ourselves. Great video of a great time!!
The event just gets better and better every year. Absolutely, next year I look forward to getting to meet more great people such as yourself. Thank you for taking time to check out the video 🙏
