Pat, mom, snuggling up with Lance had me instantly 😭 Our babies are always our babies. ❤
I watched the series with my mom. Lance was our favorite Loud. RIP, sweet man!
it is such a great series Can you imagine 400 dollars a month for rent. The family lives are like so many from that generation.
Hope those kitties were taken care of.
This is too 😢 😔 😞 sad
I remember living to watch An American Family in high school days & I absolutely adored Lance I was brokenhearted when he passed. It’s so good to see him again anytime. I hope he knows wherever he is how much he is still loved. ❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for doing this and sharing it with us. Bittersweet.
How did I miss this?? He was so special. I loved thru the worst days of aids. Too much pain to comprehend. I’ve been reading a lot lately that the gay community at present is not taking AIDS seriously. I feel gut punched. It’s just too hard to believe.
He was a wonderful boy. A smart, brave, wonderful boy. I am sorry his life was so short. I am impressed at the love and acceptance (if not approval) his parents showed him. At the end of the day how we treated each other is all that matters.
Only slightly more famous than Taylor Mead. Speed makes the Superstar. RIP
real great human being
so beautiful
I wish I could have talked to my mom like he does.
I remember that show so well, I loved watching it. How sad that Lance got caught up in the fame and did himself in with drugs. Fame, especially for people who got tossed into it, is not all it's cracked up to be. I wonder what path his life would have taken had his family never done that show.
44:54 the dad is lovely 😊
He was a neurodivergent. Beautiful man 🎉 RIP LANCE
I thought it was hilarious that some people would blame Lance for his father's infidelity!
Putting from the rough is not to be celebrated. Anyone remember The t shirt That said "Aids kills f ags dead"?
Ya know what I get from all this other than That's Life is what great parents Mr and Mrs Loud were !....(RIP) Mr and Mrs Loud and Lance Loud 🙏
Pat Loud was the best mom ever!
Lance was a true, one of a kind star. I feel like he was my friend and even though I never knew him, I mourn his loss as though we’d known each other forever. I’m so grateful that Lance was introduced to the world in my favorite television series of all time and hope that he is finally reunited with Bill and Pat in the great beyond. Thank you so much for posting this!
I was young newly married with my first child and watched the show always. Lance was my favorite family member
I didn't see American Family when it ran originally being just 12-13 at the time. When I came upon it being re-broadcast I was hooked. Lance was immediately my favorite. (Living in Santa Barbara I was always hoping I'd cross paths with a Loud family member.) I was sad to learn of his passing.
Wow! That was beautiful! 😢
As some mention below, it was a show well done, and family that you readily felt attached to, related to, (esp lance, so warm hearted) honest representation of family dynamic.
Lance Loud, a beautiful soul.
I was 16 when the show aired on PBS. As a working class girl living in Queens, I found their lives so cool and glamorous-driving around Santa Barbara; living in a beautiful home. I passed the Chelsea Hotel many times and to this day, I associate it with Lance Loud. The Louds opened up their lives warts and all to the world but my takeaway was that they had so much love despite a messy divorce and the ensuing years of problems. It's something today's so-called reality shows don't and can not imagine. Pat and Bill lived long lives; I hope and pray that the siblings have close relationships with each other.
I so agree with your post. I was from New Jersey and absolutely addicted to the show and the family interactions. I felt that each family member added something to the mix... But Lance was so bold and ALIVE! I will turn 70 this year, and I still find this documentary fascinating and still love that the family let us share with them.
I loved seeing how close he was to his parents, specially his mother. What a great guy.
I think it was very brave and frank of this family to allow their lives to be filmed!
Mead, Jewish, NYT, Jewish, seems jealousy and assault on a white family was going on.
RIP ❤
Yes, Mrs. Loud (RIP) , he was a lovely boy. I learned a lot
Gay was a BIG HUGE DEAL in 1973. People had not yet adjusted to a new reality.
He was such a dear soul.
Long live The Mumps! They were good!
What a physically and spiritually beautiful family are the Louds. 🙏
What a delightful young man. This has been a gift.
Thanks for posting this. I would have never known of Lance's story. I was only 4 when the series was released.
Odd....this came into my algorithm on the 23rd anniversary of his death.
If Lance grew up now, his life would be so much better. Even with his messed up family he would have been so much happier.
The family is more normal than you might think
Unconditional love. That's all parents can give. What a wonderful mother.❤
Let this be a sermon.
Notice how well dressed the general public used to be prior to the globalist agenda to degrade our societies. Now people wear pajamas to buy groceries or bikinis in the convenience store. Its sad how poorly mannered and dressed our society has become.
This was the beginning of freak culture.
You seriously need to study some history.
@ honey I’m 64 and I lived through that history so don’t preach.
@@hellodolly9879I think you’re the freak.
The background music is making this unwatchable.
If you listen to Gregory Poe's description of Lance it would seem as though he (Lance) was a manic-depressive.
A show ahead of its time and a star WAY ahead of his time. And the trolls existed even back then (NY Times still the worst paper ever).
Om mane padme hum
I watched the episodes on KCET in 1973. I kind of think of this family as the first reality but unscripted reality show.
Unscripted reality shows-the best. But of course I think the cameras affected them. how could they not?
Lance helped break that stero type. God bless him.
I was his age when the documentary came out . I watched it and thought he was an entitled brat. I was working and paying my way through college. Could not relate
