This guy's argument most definitely proves that there's a status quo. At the end of the day, the hero or villain goes back to being or doing what they originally were designed to do. There is no lasting change despite characters having life changing events happening to them. They always return to their original function.

We have enough people acting like they want to support a black comic company but just want to be the boss and make the money instead of sharing the stage as a combined company or group creating good stories and art work with rich color and content.

Supacell was alright in my opinion, it didn’t really do anything new with the superhero genre, it’s like Heroes or Misfits but set in London with the Sickle Cell aspect. The writing wasn’t all too well in terms of character development, the creator is a British rapper, Rapman, I wouldn’t expect the best of the best out of him in terms of screenwriting. I do think the show being British may have contributed to it falling out of the public’s eye quickly, compared to Bridgerton, it has Shonda Rhimes as the creator and the cast is more racially mixed. Also, compared to other superhero tv, it can’t really measure up to a The Boys or The Penguin, the difference between Supacell and Echo, is Echo had Marvels brand. Hopefully, Season 2 improves it but the show could’ve been much better, in my opinion. I

It was all self destruction which I argued to Cowen not to work with Reggie hudlan.. but look where it ended up…

Problem with Invincible was it ACTUALLY dropped in November of 2023! They dumbass went on a 3 month Hiatus after ONLY 4 episodes! which is dumb ESPECIALLY after waiting damn near almost 2.5 years for the second season SHEESH!!! It deserved to be BODIED by XMEN!!

I always felt like Milestone had potential and I love their mission statement of creating a world with diverse heroes in order to show multiple perspectives of the black experience in order to avoid just one black character carrying that load. But I do also have some issues with it. Because of their over reliance on being “black comics”, they fail to really elevate beyond that. With actual imagination and universal storytelling. Especially after Dwayne passed, since he was the main creative mind behind the universe with constructing the Milestone Pitch Bible and everything. In a day n age where audiences hate being preached to, Milestone comics just don’t really fit in the modern era as they don’t really have anything interesting to talk about. That’s not to say you can’t be woke! There’s plenty of woke comics, but you also have to be fun. The X-men is literally about oppressed minorities navigating through life and battling their oppressors, and is able to have very nuanced discussions of coexistence and segregation and bigotry- but all through a fun and fantastical lenses. And it’s also not what they are completely. There is genuine Worldbuilding there with creative ideas, allowing for stories like Dark Phoenix and Days of Future Past. Milestone doesn’t have that, because they lack the creative and ambitious minds. They rather tell stories about black superheroes, rather than tell amazing superhero stories. Which, would be fine… if you had interesting black heroes. I’m sorry man, but a lot of the Milestone characters just aren’t that interesting at all. Suicide Syndicate is just one big group of boring ass one dimensional characters. Hardware was interesting for a few issues as he has an interesting premise, but he’s far more interesting as a support character once his first arc on taking revenge against Alva Industries is complete. Icon and Rocket are pretty cool, but just really lack the power to run their own series. As much as they hate to admit it, Static is their only successful character. Always has been. And it’s not just because of his animated series. He simply reads well as a protagonist. An ordinary highschool kid who gets picked on so badly that he seeks to reclaim his honor by shooting his bully Francis one night- only to back down as that lifestyle doesn’t suit him… shortly before absorbing a special gas that alters his cellular structure and grants him special powers, along with everyone else who was at the location. This gas was meant to kill them, and while most see themselves as freaks? Static uses these newfound powers to help his community, while also juggling that with the responsibilities of highschool and relationships- all of which were handled greatly in the original comics by Dwayne. Static is your Spidey, the one who everyone will resonate with most because he’s badass and relatable. The coming or age tale is the most powerful. And while I understand that Dennis and team don’t want to admit that they only have one great character because they want to build out a universe, there is a way to remedy this and have it work in your favor. Pull an Invincible. The thing about that comic is that while the author Robert Kirkman had faith in his greater world and universe, he knew that his main character Mark Grayson/ Invincible would be the main hook and device in exploring this original world. It would be through his lenses. And we’d learn more about the world as Invincible did. If I was in charge of Milestone, I’d do the exact same but with Static. Have Virgil be our main focus and POV character in one continuing series (ideally with the same writer). We’ve already seen in previous comics how he interacts with the world quite seamlessly. This would also be far more affordable for them as they’d only need to pay one writer, artist, and editor. And you’d be releasing comics that people actually care about! Granted this would never happen because the team isn’t humble enough and perhaps some fans wouldn’t even be okay with this. It’s whatever.

This is gonna be a controversial take and I’m gonna take it a bit further here, but…this is also the reason why I detest The Little Mermaid remake with Halle Bailey. The “black collective” keeps trying to turn characters who aren’t black into honorary black figures all for the sake of representation and inclusion. But it’s hella ironic because what they fail to realize is how this cheapens black culture and the black experience as a result. We protest about proper representation but we allow Disney to do the bare minimum by slapping black skin onto Ariel and while still making such a subpar box office movie…but we eat it up like candy because now she looks like us. Yet this could’ve been the perfect opportunity for Disney to turn one of Ariel’s black mermaid friend and fellow princess into a full-fledged movie of her own. We code Piccolo and Knuckles just because they have a more “black” personality/demeanor or because Knux was given a couple of rap tracks in SA2B. That doesn’t automatically make them black. I used to see people coding Shadow as black because he’s a ngga with a glock… Like first of all, is that how we really want to be represented? Second of all, that doesn’t correlate to Shadow being black in ANY way. I kinda gave up on the blerd community for this very reason. I just can’t fvck with it
