World's Best Chord Progressions Ep. 46 - 'Case of You ', Joni Mitchell
Can there be a more perfect song then Joni Mitchell's 'Case Of You'? Or album then 'Blue' for that matter!
What can you say other than to kneel at the genius of this woman? How brilliant to have seen her begin performing again in recent times. When all has been swept up I really think this is one of those albums that will be put aside as one of the pinnacles of 20th Century recorded music.
It's a tricky one to try and play accurately on the piano as she uses her trademark detuned/ open tuning on the guitar but I've done my best! Hope you like it.

World's Best Chord Progression Ep. 45 - "New Born" by Muse

I've always found the contrary motion piano part very satisfying in Muse's 'New Born', the first track from their big smash through album 'Origin of Symmetry'. Matt Bellamy is one of those crazy talented people who can flip from legendary guitar solos to classical virtuosic piano without pausing - truly astonishing. What's your favourite Muse song?? #muse #musecover #classicsongs #classicalbum ...
Are Oasis really that good musically...!?

So what's the story morning glory?? Well in this video, the story is all about how ONE NOTE - an A natural - is the key to the success of Oasis's biggest song 'Wonderwall'. Technically a pedal note, it is a common technique to stitch harmony together and is ultimately always satisfying on the ear! But what's your take? Why do you think this song is such a universal hit!? Thanks for watching. If...

Why was THIS COLDPLAY song not bigger!?

Coldplay's 'Rush of Blood to the Head' came out just at the time when I was starting to write songs; starting to figure out what songs could, could do and say. It's interesting to me that Chris Martin clearly writes from a very emotional place and yet what comes out are lyrics of such an ambiguous (and critics might say generalised) nature that they can connect with so many. They are clearly un...

Seeing Keane pop up on my screen the other day was a pleasant surprise....and then a less pleasant one when I realised it must mean their seminal album 'Hope and Fears' is 20 years old! I like the analysis, but I would like to point out that there’s also a sustained E note alongside the A. This gives the song a certain tension that makes the song a bit melancholic. Aside from that, great analysis of this, dare I say, brilliant song!!!

Cheers, planning on making some more for sure!

Paul said that this song Here, There, Everywhere was the only song ever that John Lennon actually complimented him on saying it was a beautiful song and that he had something special with this song. He never ever said that before or after at any time the two of them presented individual solo songs composed only by Paul.

Hi Mate. Here are some of my all-time favorite piano songs that have incredible chord progressions and changes but are still pop, jazz or R&B songs and incredible. 1. Until You Love Me (Al Jarreau) 2. I Will Be Here For You (Michael W. Smith) 3. El Dia Que Me Quieras (Luis Miguel) 4. If Only For One Night (Luther Vandross) 5. Take A Look At Me Now (Phil Collins) 6. Heart To Heart (Kenny Loggins) 7. You're My Love (Kenny Rogers) written by Prince. 8. Me Dedique A Perderte (Alejandro Fernandez) This song is really nice 9. Living Inside Myself (Gino Vannelli) This song has so much excellence it's ridiculous 10. Milonga Paraguaya (Jorge Drexler) Jorge is a master at composing unusual chord progressions that don't sound over done.

I think that move from C to F#m works because we are hearing F#m compared to the G we were anticipating next in the progression, rather than the C that came before. That’s what gives it that descending effect I believe.

Suggestion: My funny valentine. The chord change that occurs at <you're my *Favourite* work of art> gives me the chills (especially in the version by Elvis Costello). It would be interesting if you could look more at jazz chords and changes and their influence e.g. on Beatles and Costello.

Love it. But get the Roman numerals right, and standardise on whether the chord changes go up or down. Aside from this, I must once again ask: why are we using Roman numerals, and why is the root chord 1 and not 0, which would make it all MUCH simpler.

Thanks for this, just had a listen - yes I see! There is something inherently French in that progression...my guess is that it stems from the accordion being so synonymous with the chanson and the fact that instrument (the way the chord buttons are laid out) is structured in 5ths.
