Here's where I upload rare music not easily accessible to the general public. It's mostly stuff by The Residents or DEVO.
The Residents - Assorted "Assorted Secrets" / "10th Anniversary Show" rarities (1981-1983)
SUPRISE! It's me, L French, with another Residents bootleg comp for all you hungry hungry fools. This is a compilation of some material that has been floating around the res-o-sphere but was left out of the Assorted Secrets pseudo-revival we were all experiencing a couple years ago with the pREServed series and LS1 digital releases. I guess I'll start by telling the story. In 1984, The Residents quietly released a limited cassette titled Assorted Secrets, containing various archival recordings showcasing the evolution of their first tour, The Mole Show, from tentative rehearsals of their classic hits to the first test performance.
Throughout the years, much more material from the sessions has been released and made readily available at your greasy fingertips, and currently, a lot of it is available - but not all. This is the remaining material which has either leaked in the past or is only available on currently out-of-print releases. I hope you like studio chatter. - Oh, and listen out for Mark Mothersbaugh quipping in the audience of the test performance.

Chris Sievey - Denigration Now (1982)
มุมมอง 1255 หลายเดือนก่อน
One of my favourite Sievey albums, and one of the more difficult-to-find ones, Denigration Now was the soundtrack to his VHS release of the same name, featuring music videos of all these here songs. I believe the music video for "Off Key Siren" was re-released as a bonus on the Being Frank DVD, but outside of that, your chances of seeing the videos are pretty slim. I wonder if the Camoflague vi...

Its been a hot minute since I've uploaded any Velvet Underground bootlegs, huh? Well anyway here's a recording from the White Light / White Heat 'tour' featuring of course Doug Yule on bass and keyboards. Each track has an abrupt cut as soon as the audience applause starts so I assume there's some songs missing. Pale Blue Eyes is also cut. I did some editing myself to try and make the monologue...

Also known as the 'Maybe More Trigger' bootleg this is a short 6-minute bootleg EP that's been circulating online for many years, but is largely ignored due to the existence of the 30-minute mono bootlegs of both tapes. I re-ordered the bootleg to be in chronological order and corrected the speed of the Rusty Coathanger track to match the officially released excerpt. Maybe I could've checked th...

Punk with choreography.
Thank you so much for the incredible work you’ve put into these volumes - so very much appreciated. I saw shows from every tour here in multiple East Coast cities, from Buffalo to Rochester to Toronto to New York City. 1978/79 finds them at the peak of their powers, crushing live shows; and these studio demos are pure gold - in some cases songs I’ve been trying to acquire for decades. Once again - thank you for your efforts!
One of the wildest/most fun concerts I ever saw was new years eve in Long Beach 79/80. Dove the Band of Love, then X, then Devo. Brilliant!
George wasn't good enough to be in the Beatles at this stage. Paul would tell him what to play. Listen to the soundtrack of the film, George's noodling is terrible and Paul and John refuse to outright say it. When Billy arrives they are so relieved
Their instruments aren't plugged in
Noice!

Devo is so far ahead of its time, they haven't yet reached planet Earth.
The quality on this is impeccable!
it would be amazing to see this done with all 30 days but i know how much of a massive undertaking that would be so it seems unlikely that would ever happen
The weirdest part is that his last name is Martinez

i refuse to think this guy was actually real.
I’ve heard Bowie, Ronson and Visconti from this band referred to as Spaceman, Outlawman and Hypeman respectively. Does anybody know if they had something like superhero costumes or was it just proto-glam fashion?
Can you have your Baby S*x playlist retitled Residents Unincorporated - Baby Sex rather then titling it The Delta Nudes - Baby Sex?
Does the entirety of the live show includes the Residents' beloved Mr. Red or the Mr. Skull mask previously used for the "Oh Mummy" performance in 1976?
Give me fever
Oh wow,love it
It's funny that the intro music right at the start is Beatown by XTC another excellent band.
Very good!
So fucking weird. They make early DEVO seem positively normal. Gotta love this shit!

Available Piece was officially released by the Residents, first on their 2009 compilation Beautiful Eyes, and second on their 2024 Vinyl album Now Available (alongside the hidden monologue and the entirety of the Not Available album with a complete version of "Never Known Questions").
Can't lie, I'm more of a ZZ Top, Foghat, BadCo, Zeppelin kinda guy (hey...that rhymes, lol)., but I took the time to scope the whole show, and I'm glad I did. My only complaint is that they didn't play Worried Man or Come Back, Jonee. All in all, it was a rather enjoyable experience...We must repeat 😎
why does snakefinger presented his band has the residents? i mean are they really the residents without costumes¿? i know Eric was new around that time, but?
@that7tiesfunkguy559 every night he announced his backing band by a different name. He was just trying to play along with the mystique
WE LOVE BOOJI BOY!
Planet Devo. They were their own world. No one has tried to do what they did, because they couldn't, or wouldn't dare.
Now that's punk
Devo at the endless wave in Oxnard. Good times.
“That’s why classs, is dismissed” johnny rash is one of the best musicians of our generation
Theyve evolved so much since then. You know every one of them (especially MM) are on the spectrum.
Is this real?
I can't believe this has been up here for 5 years and this is the first time I'm seeing it. Oh, crap. There's one from Minneapolis from 1978 too. It's been up for ten years. Good Lord. the algorithm doesn't know who doesn't know a thing about me.
they were (are) extraordinary musicians, not just technically, but compositionally too, and they had the most genius bizarre hilarious dangerous exciting thoughtful stage concepts, and extraordinary choreography & athleticism, but the thing that made it so amazing, was they all embodied all this fully, none of it every seemed just like an act. so amazing.
it's not fair, it's inconceivable, it's incomprehensible, how freaking good they were
now THAT is punk rock
so apparently Sun Ra & his Arkestra were also on this bill...wonder what Sun Ra thought of DEVO, & if they hung out
@vincenzollamas According to Mark they got kicked out after their set, but he was able to sneak back in to see Sun play because he was wearing the booji boy mask throughout the whole set
@@LFrench ha! that mask has come in handy so many times
GOD this is an all-time classic. I think it was the last thing I retweeted on my abandoned Twitter account :P

I've seen Mr. Finger several times - with the Residents in 1986 at the Vic, with his beatnik dance party band at Huey's (also in Chicago), and at a bar down the street from my apartment (details are hazy, but I did speak with him briefly). This bootleg is a prize, I listened to this record a lot in my youth.
Thank you! Wanted to listen to this for so long 🙌🏻😁
you make me go blind baby
The beauty of their "Satisfaction" cover is that they started with a simple question - "What would 'Satisfaction' sound like without any swing?" And proceeded to turn that into a masterpiece. Then they follow up with "Too Much Paranoias," which is nothing but swing, showing that both decisions were entirely deliberate.
