How could Amazon’s answer to Shein and Temu impact the parcel delivery sector?
Amazon has launched a new e-commerce service named Haul. The price of products on sale are capped at a maximum of $20, a decision that seemingly puts the new marketplace in competition with Temu and Shein.
The aforementioned Chinese retailers are known for utilising the consumer-to-manufacturer model to streamline their supply chains. Given Amazon also has its own logistics arm, could it be in a good position to manufacture and deliver from factory to consumer?
Gary Winter and Marek Rozycki offer their thoughts.

Could international delivery through parcel lockers become the new norm?
มุมมอง 514 วันที่ผ่านมา
InPost has announced a new international delivery service that will allow users to send from a parcel locker in 8 selected European countries to another locker in those countries. InPost’s CEO, Rafał Brzoska, has claimed that travelers on budget airlines would be better off sending any extra shopping purchases via this new service rather than paying more to increase their baggage allowance. Are ‘stowaways’ in parcels something genuinely worth worrying about?

Is this an issue that policymakers in Europe will wish to address, and could it imp...

    As a employee,the government needs to re-nationalize us, while ever it's privatized,they take every last spare penny from it, greed, greed, greed,you both know the friction that us employees have had to face over the years since privatization,it will only get worse, offcom have taken royal mails word on letter delivery (uso) being impossible to do 6 days a week. The delivery routes of all of us have been doubled to make it impossible to do in our contracted hrs,they want parcel and package money as it pays more. We are told to leave mail to prioritize just that, FACT!!.. The more money they make, the more money the top brass, shareholders get, at the expense of the workforce,ie,the postal workers.The service now that royal mail does is nigh on short of abysmal,the public are paying 1st class money for a 2nd class service,never have I seen/heard how morale is so low,then you hear of a Czech billionaire wanting the chance to run it, my opinion,once he's got it, he'll do what the hell he wants,500 yrs a company will mean nothing....

    They're ok but prone to technical issues. Twice I've had parcels locked in & not collected - once they were in for 6 weeks ! Even as I'm typing this, my local one won't scan evri barcodes & after 8 days it's still not fixed after reporting to evri. Could this be evri's fault ? No idea but why don't Quadient also take responsibility in fixing it as it's their locker ? There's no message on the screen to say there are issues either. I know myself that there's no coordination between evri & Quadient as I've spoken to Quadient before. They're useless, don't know anything but still charge you 50p a minute to dither ! Also, if you're wanting to leave your parcels in one box, it only allows you to scan the one parcel & not the others - so not great for any kind of proof that the other parcels are in there if they become lost. If you wanted to scan them individually, each of the parcels would have to be put into its own box space, which fills up the locker & takes locker space away from other users. Either way it's not great. You should be allowed to choose the box size & then be able to scan each parcel before putting them all in together. It is a time saver though but needs to work better & more efficiently. A lot of room for improvement.

    I'm a postie. I've been saying for over 10 years that royal mail should be selling parcel boxes to the public. We're a parcel company that does letters. But the end user recipient still only has a letterbox. So I keep telling customers to get themselves boxes. Which works out alot better. They even leave parcels to be picked up there as well. Royal mail has been saying for years that letter decline is leading to less workload. That's not always the case. It takes longer to stand and knock at a door then try neighbours or then try finding a safe place to leave it. Than it does going to every door in that street. Multiply that with an increase in packets and parcels and u find it takes longer to do the job now than it did with a bike 20 years ago. So lockers and boxes would help mitigate that.

    @marekrozycki2364 , in the video you mentioned that DHL might be doing this move to prevent legislators to force them to open up their full network. Do you also believe that they might be doing it to mark their territory and show that they can easily open up their network if necessary to scare off MFB and potential new agnostic entrants?

  • @Paketda.
    @Paketda. 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    2 interesting aspects to this: 1) If DHL had opened up some of its Packstations to external providers, the entire Packstation network would have fallen under the new German Postal Act and had to be opened up to third parties. By founding the independent operator OneStopBox, DHL can precisely control at which locations it allows competitors to use the network and where not. 2) DHL wanted to operate 15,000 Packstations in Germany by the end of 2023. This target was missed. According to the 2023 annual report, DHL only has "over 13,000" Packstations and Poststations. Are they slowing down the Packstation expansion in favour of OneStopBox?

    Sorry, I disagree with the statement on "Evri are bigger, thus they have bad press". Evri is just poorly managed, planned/forecasted and operated. DPD UK does an excellent job at managing their supply chain, and it's not only a matter of cost, it's also putting people that know what they do to manage the operations. For example, DPD Germany is a poor service, despite working on similar price points and technology. Primarily, it is because they don't know how to manage their processing hubs, they lack visibility, and their former COO who didn't know what he was doing has now become CEO. Now, Evri will require some serious investment to steer back on track. DHL eCom will never be interested in them (as you say, they have their challenges, and I would instead see them exit physical processing, outsourcing fully their operations to another player on the market, as they do in certain other countries). I would indeed see a foreign group acquire them, from China, or elsewhere.
