How long do you quarantine them for?
Excellent video, thank you
Turkey basters are my favorite but I need metal chopsticks now 😂
I love your terms and am definitely checking out your vid on transitioning to wick system; I'm leery about my violets that haven't been started in such a way lol
How many violets do you have?
Very useful video! For the watering do you monitor the water intake by the violet 30:57
Like all the info, thanks. Question...I have a leaf growing on a flower stem, can that be propagated ??
Y don't my violets have flowers
Don't let water in the reservoir touch the bottom of pot
Awe poor little thing lol. Could have been neat to grow as a zipper but perhaps as a mount so it grows more vertically?
They are also touch me not so I’m told so I can imagine they go through something after the grooming they get. Mine keeps 29:22 their leaves upwards is that a good thing?
Nice job. I would love to see an update. I’m a new violet mom lol. Need all the help I can get. 24:16
Hey Girl Very informative Thank you Very Very Much
Én tisztított vízzel locsolom őket, de szeretnék nekik adni évente egyszer kálciumos vizet ,amit tojáshéjból készítek , házilag csinálom a tápokat, azért ..
On the first one why would I just not use faucet to wash soil away. Seems like wouldn’t damage roots as much?
What kind of wick
Use acrylic yarn
I had trouble identifying suckers and then I watched your video. Very clear and informative video. Thank you so much.
This was just what I needed to know regarding planting babies. You were clear snd to the point. Thanks so much!
See ...I would have called that a " sport "😂... And I would have kept that baby...🤣
Please reduce the volume of your background music.
I ordered Teeny Bopper leaves and one of them got roots and is growing slowly. Looking back, I wish that I had bought an actual plant. This one is truly a micro miniature. I also like Violet Barn, everything is well packaged and healthy. Thanks for sharing.
Hay I love this channel and I’m mad about African violets! I live in Australia and don’t see the variety you have so beautiful I love Texas stardom ❤️ because you are in an African violet group do you know if the US can ship leaves over to Australia? Thanks for the info on propagation 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
I've successfully decapitated some of my violets. I set the potted up plant into a plastic bag for a few weeks and it worked!
The last one! 😢❤
Thanks for making this video - very interesting. I used a weak solution of Clorox and water on leaves recently and they came through it just fine.
New to your channel. I have had violets since I was a little girl. My grandmother got me started with them. I was always told never to get water on the leaves so I never knew about disinfecting them like that. I would have thought that would have killed them with the water on them. I am glad to have seen this. I love to learn knew things about my violets. Thank you for this info.

Great video. Thanks. Esther
Thank you for making this video. I had not heard of this place before, so I went to their website. They have some beautiful plants for sure. I may just order some leaves from them before the day is out. Thanks again.
I enjoyed watching your vids. You get us real close to see what is involved in starting new African Violet plants. The quality of the vids. you do is exceptional! Thanks!
Great information! So glad I found your videos. They are so helpful!
What a wonderful video for a brand new person that just recently got her first african Violet!! Thanks for all the great information!
Great video. I’m knew to growing violets this helps a lot. Thanks 37:14
...or wick the leaf to make babies...it works!
Awesome video! Thank you! What systemic did you use? Thank you 💕
Thank you! I use Bonide systemic, but Marathon works well also
Could you please make a video about the potting/soil mix? We don't have African Violet specific mix sold here.
In the video at 17.50 she tells you what she uses to make her soil mix.
@@mikebootheIt's a mix of African Violet soil with 70% perlite. We don't have the first ingredient 😂
I love your technique!
I just found you! You are now my go to for my violets! Very interesting!
Thank you! 😊
What brand of systemic powder did you use for fungus knats?
Gnats
Hi there! I use Bonide Systemic. Marathon also works well. I buy mine from Amazon, but you can also get either at a garden center or someplace like Lowe's or Home Depot.
It looks beautiful. What type of plant lights do you use ?
Hi there! Thanks for watching! I use Barrina T5 Grow Lights, 5000K Full Spectrum LED lights (got them from Amazon). I put them on a timer for about 10 to 12 hours per day. Most of my plants seem to grow pretty well under them.
Thanks for all the great information
Thank you for your information. It is was very interesting 11:05 11:06
So informative, thank you.
Thank you!!
Very informative, thanks!! I use wet sphagnum moss for suckers to form roots!! Takes about 3 weeks and about 100% success. Another method
One of the most comprehensive tutorials I've seen on African Violets. Thank you!
I have thrips on some of my AV's, and wondering if you would recommend submerging an entire plant in bleach/vinegar water for getting rid of the little buggers? Thank you 😊 I might do an experiment on one of my not-so-precious AV's
Hi there! Instead of vinegar, try a solution of 2 teaspoons of dish soap in a gallon of water. If you’re not adverse to insecticides, you can also try Avid. Keep up with the spray about every 5 to 7 days for about four weeks. If the affected plant is in the middle of your other AVs, spray them too because they might just migrate another plant. You’ll also want to immediately take off all the flowers and flower buds from you affected plants. Thrips feed in pollen sacs on your plants, so by getting rid of the flowers, you’re starving them of their food source. You’ll probably want to keep the plant disbudded for a few weeks to a couple months to make sure all of the adult thrips and baby ones are gone. They can be persistent little buggers. Good luck!
I will definately use the info. you presented to repot my violets. All my other plants are only repotted once a year at the most. Didn't know African Violets were any different.
I’m glad you found the video useful! I think it’s because in order to bloom african violets like to be fertilized frequently. As a result there tends to be fertilizer byproducts built up the soil over time.
