    A very nice piece of furniture. I’ve been woodworking for 45 years plus and have made many, many tables. Rectangular are easy but curved get more interesting. In years gone by, we obviously didn’t have CNC and so we made our templates manually. I still don’t have a CNC but get mine cut when I need them. We also didn’t have epoxy.i think epoxy is a mixed blessing (speaking as someone who has just finished 2 of them). It does let us use timber that, years ago, would just go a firewood. However, I feel it’s taken some creativity and skills away as the answer for some now is to fill other with epoxy. But that’s life. I’ve finished another table a month ago where I used European walnut in quite the shape you have but surrounded it with oak. It was very time consuming in that I had to make several template to that junction between oak and walnut tight all around the curves. None of this is in anyway negative to your build. It was very creative and I applaud also the quality of the video itself. Have you tried switching to a 2 pack hard wax oil. Obviously, Osmo was the go-to but I think the era of 1 pack is going. 2 pack gives me fast curing and a coat only solution. I persuaded by the Wood Whisperers video reviewing 2 pack to switch from Rubio to Natura Onecoat. I won’t be going back. Better cans mean I can go drip free; fast cure (in about an hour I can handle the piece, freeing up my bench and stopping dust ruining the piece) and it’s cheaper (per can, and it seems to me, it goes further)

    • @BlueTurtleStudios
      @BlueTurtleStudios 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks, I am drawn to the odd shapes. I am not very good at straight lines. If I didn't have the pattern it would have taken a week to sand the curves-thank goodness for the people that do have them- its not for me either but definitely a shortcut-I am a little older than most of these MAKER TYPES therefore tech is natural for me and I am very grateful for the view and comment.

    Hey there!:) I was watching this with my husband and we both thought this was SO AWESOME!!🔥 ❤ I'm curious to know if you can enamel this kind of metal.. either enamel (crushed glass micro-particles) and torch fire or even heat gun.. and maybe even add into it mica powder to create different metal effects such as a copperized color or whatever color we want .. maybe use a airbrush or sandblaster to evenly coat it with enamel and then fire it multiple times just like you'd do in jewelry making.. if that would work? Since this is the only low temp metal that seems to be safe to pour.. and that way it wouldn't be constrained to that specified color.. do you think that would be possible? I want to test but I'd love your thoughts on this? I don't know the first thing about this ... YET. Just a theory/ idea. What do you think?

    • @leahannwhite1111
      @leahannwhite1111 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why not just use epoxy & mica? Well... it seems that to use epoxy you wouldn't get that close of a *real* metal effect as you would with this metal.. no matter what kind of metallic mica powder you would use. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know. But I'd LOVE your feedback! ❤

    • @BlueTurtleStudios
      @BlueTurtleStudios หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think if you could get metal copper powder and dust on as it cools after it is poured that might be cool if it doesn't disappear during sanding (wear a mask).A young of copper powdered metal is about 20 dollars so you could mix it and see. I might do a video project of that. I don't know what pigment powders are? I think crushed stones? very interesting idea! what about gold leaf at the last moment or some type of low cost gemstones that would sand and polish-great ideas-thanks for watching-you have sparked some curiosity!!!!

      That is exactly what my wife said:) ! and I think that the things that made it happen can be identified easily and reproduced! Maybe? 1. the paddle mixer creating the enormous amount of bubbles, 2. the 2 inch deep pour epoxy pouring in a 16 inch column. 3. maybe a faster cure? --but you are right and I find it valuable knowledge.
