5.4 3v Headers on a 4.6 3v Install

We did it. We answered the long forgotten question. After months on end of research. We got the answer, since nobody makes 12th gen 4.6 3v specific headers. I pulled the trigger on a pair of Flowtech Shorty Headers meant for the 04-08 f150 5.4 3v and miraculously enough they fit the 12th generation 4.6 3v F150! I hope this video is big enough help to those out there wanting to take this approac...

Volant Cold Air Intake Install on Cammed 3v F150

After installing the Volant cold air intake I can definitely notice improvements while driving from sound, throttle response , MPG. Over all a much, much better air flow!

Nice truck, sounds clean!
In 2006 I bought a brand new ‘04 F150 5.4L 3V. I lowered it, installed wheels similar to yours. Installed Pacesetter long tube headers into an off-road Y-pipe into a two chamber Flowmaster with dual outlets and tailpipes straight out the back with slant cut rolled tips! It was seriously at the time one of the best sounding trucks on the road and other guys were always chasing me down asking me what kind of exhaust I had and telling me it was the best sounding truck they ever heard! I also added a Volant CAI and a tune and 4.11 gears in the rearend. It would outrun all the trucks on the road at that time. It would run a high 14 second quarter mile at the drag strip in Sealy, Texas that is now owned by Hennessey. I decided to get a GMC 2500 Badlander Duramax 4x4 and sold the truck to my daughter’s boyfriend and have regretted ever selling it. I was going to install 11:1 high compression pistons and big cams....It was an awesome truck!

Got the same 8s like yours couple days ago on a sundown sia 2500 watt amp but I was wondering how you broke in your subs and how long you break in your subs,also what does the bass processer do?? Thx in advance
@SkoLveeBoi I think I played mine at ¼ knob for a at least a week or so. As for the bass processor what that does is it restores those bass notes that wernt picked up during the recording and makes them audible For example in jazz music or banda music. Music that uses Instruments.

Don’t say to turn off the sensors tho just be like I got a cat delete and headers cause there not allowed to talk about it on the phone

I've been waiting for you to do this video. You didn't touch on if the headers gave a performance increase or not? Was there a seat of the pants difference? I want to do the flowtech shorties on my 04 5.4 3v. Probably in the spring time. God video though. Headers on these engines are hell to do lol.
@302hobronco I noticed my MPGs went up a bit. The truck does feel like it flows better. Off a butt dyno not to sure they made a huge power difference.
@3vGio I'm surprised your stock manifolds didn't look like the common cast manifolds you see on the mustangs and 5.4L trucks. Those new headers had to free up some ponies. Maby your new exhaust with high flow converters will complete the set up. Looks good bro keep it up.
I've been doing research on this topic for a couple years now. I came up with the same answer. That No one has done it and that they won't fit. I am so hype that you installed these on your truck. I have 2010 4.6 3v 2wd and I think I want to try the long tubes. Just wondering If those shorties fit on your truck then the long tube should fit too right? What did your exhaust guy say referring to the long tubes ?
@robbieboyer6681 My guess is they technically should fit if these shorties went in with no clearance issues. The exhaust guy said long tubes would have been easier to bolt up since the bolts are more accessible easily unlike these shorties that have the loop on the passenger side making some of the bottom bolts a bit of a fight to get to. @SyndicateLobo Everyone says Ridetech.. but brother, I just can't justify spending $3000 just on drop suspension. You don't have a part number do you on the kit you used?

@therandomguys497 you're gonna need a tune if not your truck is gonna run super wonky with out one. But yes these are direct swap cams designed to work with the factory components

@Kryptic2k I'm about to hit 200k in about 900 miles! Reliability been great never had any mechanical issues apart from the alternator giving out after I installed my subs a few years back and regular maintenance

Ese es el link del kit. I'm thinking doing shorties on my cammed 5.4 3v f150 this spring. I need to redo my whole exhaust, I call it "the clapper" it sucks from 2k to 3k rpm. Keep up the great work, the truck is sounding and looking sick.

@ViporSneaky21 it's on belltech coilovers up front and a flip kit in the rear so a 4/6

@ViporSneaky21 heads up 2014 year models use 2015 front suspension so just make sure you get the proper kit for your year truck. And 1 more thing, to fix your camber up front I'd recommend going with some adjustable upper control arms. Oh last thing lol. The belltech kit is actually a 3/5.5 drop but I used the stock shackels to keep It a true 6in rear drop
