Replace 14 inch Woodworking Bandsaw Tires with Urethane
มุมมอง 28K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Replacing broken and worn out bandsaw tires on a 14 inch woodworking band saw. These were replaced on a Porter Cable saw but the process should be about the same on a Jet, Delta, Powermatic, Grizzly or any other 14" band saw. One old tire broke and the other was just worn. The replacements tires are .125 urethane. The kit I ordered came with a band-aid which i thought was funny when I opened th...

    Have you done it with the colors in reverse, using the lighter color last?

    • @thehammondworkshop
      @thehammondworkshop 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No I haven't. I played with the process using left over paint I had. Then picked out the colors. Looked at weathered wood and tried to reproduce the look.

    Wont this peel at some point being latex? I was thinking a heavy bodied stain would be better. No peel.

    • @thehammondworkshop

      It's actually a small squeegee that I used. A wider one would probably be easier but really all you need is something that will wipe the paint off of the top of the texture.

    Do you have any written plans for this vessel? It is a very beautiful piece and I would like to try and make it. Did you manage to get another ring off of it?

    • @thehammondworkshop
      @thehammondworkshop 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had some notes scribbled down at one time but they are long gone.The piece was given away as a gift and is now two states away so I can't even get any measurements at the moment. The feature ring was split and part of it was used right below it and the other part was used as part of the floating bottom. HTH's and thank you for the kind words.

    Great video and finished project! Two questions: For segmented turning, do you always turn a ring at a time; that is, glue ring, turn it; glue another, turn... What cutting tools are used? Thanks

    • @thehammondworkshop
      @thehammondworkshop 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not always, mainly just do it to get it true so the next ring is easier to center. I use a mixture of Thompson lathe tools, Harbor Freight HSS, and a couple of DIY Easy Wood type tools. Thank you for the compliments!
