How to Install a Subway Tile Backsplash (Small Section)
No you should not buy one. I have one and it is horrible. Connection takes forever. Worst part is you cant trust it. Says its locked when its not. Not all the time but it has happened more than once.
Is your door a steel door with a steel frame? If so, that's probably throwing off the sensor that tells the door whether it's opened or closed. Steel doors are becoming more and more uncommon. August locks work great for my application, which is a wood core fiberglass skin door, and currently the most common door installed on residential homes.
It is an aluminum storm rated door. It has the magnet installed. I'm glad you are having better success than I had. I've switched to Aqara U200.
I was so waiting to try one of these, but every youtuvbe video I watch and reviews on reddit I read is nothing but junk. You are buying a low-cost "cheap" piece of junk that's meant to fail.
Good assessment, thanks. insulation is the best investment! That is #1 rule of saving money and the environment.
The noise from your air handler motors is definitely normal. I have two handlers and have had them for 3.5 years and they are silent. Also I have had incredibly good results with their warranty.
Thank you for a comprehensive review of your experience. I've installed 9 units I purchased for two homes from Alpine Air. I had to hire a certified technician to charge these systems... You;re correct... it's hard to find someone to do this work, so Mr. Cool will be my supplier for my next project. I suspect most of these are manufactured in China, so I'm concerned about the forecast high tariffs... My other concern focuses on EPA refrigerant standards. I've 'heard' that some refrigerants will no longer be allowed after January. I wonderi you have some guidance for us with respect to these two challenges. Thank you.
And getting parts when it quits on a weekend lot of small parts and plastic.
I would say from years in the field 5 years tops on mini split
I will be purchasing ours from Home Depot and need to know if I'm getting the orecharged n sealed lines setup?? Can you advise me??
My heat pump unit will be under an overhang car port walled in so no exposure to sun or snow or rain.😅 Dandahermit that follow me feature is Kool.
I only have one zone so I wouldn't have a dual function problem
I'm glad I found your review. Subbed and will follow. I'm off grid and will need a 120 volt system. Have much Solar and wind power. Up above the snowline in NE Washington state in a small cabin and your review was what I needed to hear. Thanks Dandahermit. I'm 80 yrs old and too old for the work if my wood heat system. Great content Av winter temp zero to high 20s.
MRCool is a brand from Midea, perhaps the biggest global manufacturer of such equipment, they also own the Carrier brand... That noise from your FanCoil unit is not normal and sounds like a bearing problem.
Regard the mode issue, why not allow the thermostat to determine which mode the unit is in? Mr Cool?
I love your videos, can i be your your thumbnail designer? i know you already have one i just wanna work with you :)
@@AbdullahAsif-p8o Send me what you would have done instead of this one to the email address in my profile
@@TheRenoBros please check your email, thank you
We have some Perfect Aire units which look very similar to Mr Cool. I could not get anyone to come out and see why one of them would start to "smell" (according to my wife). No HVAC people will touch DIY minisplits. They will happily replace them, at 5-10x the DIY cost though!
I purchased mine through air purifier depot and have had Mr Cool send me a 50 ft communication wire since I originally had 2 25ft connected together and had an issue and now they are sending me a new motor since one of my units has started making a hissing noise. They have been great to work with so far.
NEVER BUY A MR COOL DIY UNIT. Lasted 4 months and quit. Now they are giving a run around
First time watching this. Ya'll helped a bunch. I hope to gt these mini splits set up within the next six months. Are your splits 110 or 220 just curious. Thank you.
No mask?
some of the new mini splits you can do heat and cool on different units it has an extra line I believe
That would be fancy!
My Mr cool is over 6 years old keeping my oversized two car garage cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Zero problems
Nice! Glad it's working so well for you!
how much do you save paying the extra 1200 for the diy kit vs hiring someone to charge the lines?
Good question! Idk the cost to hire someone to charge the lines, but that's not the only difference here. The line sets on a DIY kit are super easy to install. On a pro kit, they're much more difficult for a DIYer to install so you'd probably have to hire that out too, as well as the installation of the line set cover because that essentially happens at the same time.
These things are chinese junk. I have a Pioneer that is leaking after a few short years.
So far I've been fairly pleased for the price, although I'd look into Daikin or Mitsubishi if I were to do this again
@@TheRenoBros Yep, my next system will be one of those two. The rest are JUNK!
Probably your bearings in the motor. If you remember to clean your filters every two weeks, it will cut down on how much dirt collects in the coil and blower wheel.
Good thought 👍
replaced the engine after two years is ridiculous, even if it was covered by them, also, you can’t say all the people who said the warranty wasn’t honored are wrong …
@@guachito33 I never said anyone was wrong. I do however have video and photo record of my experience, and it was simple and easy...which makes me think perhaps they didn't use the correct channels for the warranty claim.
Kaputt?
@@LawpickingLocksmith ???
The fence looks great!! Nice work
@@MichaelFabrick Thank you! Appreciate the feedback!
I’m dealing with a smelling socky odor already have cleaned the whole inside system using mini split cleaning kit along with viper drain cleaner and Comstar coil cleaner also have used drain tabs my local HVAC can’t tell me why the odor persist can you help?
@@georgegarza3421 That's strange. Did you remove the fan blade and clean it out, or smell that in particular? Do you smell it when it's off or just once it kicks on. Obviously you'd smell it more when it's on, but is the smell there when it's off as well if you get your nose real close?
Are you cleaning your systems every 6 months?
@@JamesBrown-sr1zy Give or take. I inspect to see what is needed, and if it looks clean I skip it. The eyeball test works pretty good.
Mine is Mitsubishi and is silent.
Nice!
They don't work very well below 40F but there is a "power" button and heats well. I have no problems with cooling.
So what this is telling me is if I need a warranty repair I also need a popular TH-cam channel and a contracting business that encourages Mr. Cool to take care of my issue? 😁
@@stickermigtigger Not sure why people assume this. Mr Cool has no idea about my channel, and you think they'd care about a tiny TH-cam channel with 3.5k subscribers? Companies don't care about TH-camrs until you have more like 25-50k subscribers.
intro way too long and repetitive.
Yeah, 30 seconds is rough man... I too struggle to focus for longer than that 😂
@@TheRenoBros just take the advice and get to it next time. no smart remarks
@@callidawkins85 You're the only person who has that opinion so far. Everything I chose to put in that 30 seconds was intentional and accomplished its purpose well.
What will happen if I didn't wash down with water?
Then the grime will dry back onto the fins and you'll have to do it again
@@TheRenoBros thank you
Instead of having to wait for the compressor/condenser to defrost have you thought about building some kind of insulated box/housing that you can put over/around it during the winter months. I think some kind of temporary insulating housing has got to be better than nothing.
There are strict regulations with how much space the unit needs to breathe. You cannot legally enclose it in any helpful sort of way
Wow, that is a pro. Love it and extremely helpful. I'm a handyman about to tackle a door install and want it to look beautiful. He seems like a pretty chill guy. Appreciate it!
Thank you so much! He's one of the best, and if you follow this method, you will have a great quality install for years to come.
If you buy the advantage series and a professional doesn't install it, they do void your warranty. You bought the DIY version. Advantage series is $600 cheaper, just because you dont get the cardboard template and you have to evacuate the line set, which is easy. Warranty is the downfall
Thanks for the tip!
3 year update coming soon?
Would you like one? I've been thinking about doing it, except we're coming up on year 4
@@TheRenoBros definitely! We were thinking on getting one before winter this year. Curious to see a long span review. 4 years is better than 3 for sure!
Early in your video you talked about the savings being $8,400 . I believe on the screen it was right at $840, (12 * $70). I am sure you either got comments before about that or you just mis-calculated in your head. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
Just misspoke 🫣 I did the math right, I just said the wrong thing lol. We didn't catch it until we were editing
ON mini splits you shouldn't use any chemicals on the condenser coil. The coil has a color coding finish on it, it is a protector for the aluminum fins and the chemicals will start to erode that finish and you will start to see in time that color coding will have fade spots. It also makes it easy to clean with just water. If heads are sharing a condenser you have a zone system and that is why you can't cool one room and heat the other at the same time. These condensers only have one compressor. So which ever head give the call first to cool or heat that will happen first, when that head is satisfied then the other head will cool or heat. And on mini splits the air handler is actually call a "head". I am a HVAC TECH.
What do you use instead?
Thank you for the tips on the mini splits
You're welcome!
Holy hell! My electric bill was $350 last month with central! FU South Carolina!
Sorry to hear that! Sounds like an efficiency problem, electricity rate problem, or insulation problem. Perhaps your unit is getting old? Or maybe you need some energy efficient windows
Overall it seems these Mini Split’s work well. I am impressed you still get decent heating in the cold weather. The noise you hear after a few years in the indoor units is an inherent issue with that type of small fan motor. Basically it’s the small ball bearings failing from hours of use and age. It’s not a specific problem in any brand, they will all eventually sound noisy with lots of hours of operation.
We have a central air system in our new place, and it's just as loud when the condenser turns on
Or just get a bucket??😂
Oh no, you're not one of those people... Buckets are a huge waste of time on anything larger than a small project. This portable can solution also takes up less than 1/10th the space of a 5 gallon bucket
Hey thanks for posting. After a year, does it still hold up?
Those patches are still fine. I have a few more to patch now though from further wear and tear. Generally it happens when people drop things in the shower accidentally
It is best practice to use two different colors for your coating to make sure you get the full thickness on both coats. white then gray or gray then white. You could have patched up any missed spots with the seams between coats.
It can certainly be helpful but generally that would be the job of the primer coat. As long as your process is thorough and you are watching closely, you'll see any issues when you are costing the second time. Buying two colors of GACO would be unnecessary
I heard the oil concentrates on the bottom of the loops if not cut off and this inhibits the efficiency.
It heated up because you were aiming the holesaw down.
The metal was bent out on the opposite side, so it kinda forced me to go at an angle. Cutting through steel is always going to heat things up quite a bit
@@TheRenoBrosthat person who you replied doesn’t know what he is talking about. You are right metal to metal- heat from friction
Thanks.
Between upper 20's and 85 degrees! I want to know where you live. How is the humidity?
