I bought my 2006 F150 4x4 XLT for 0% for 72 months back then. Im still driving it for remodeling business. It still runs and drives fine. I wish i could convince myself to buy another Ford but I dont like the new stuff and its cost cutting design/engineering flaws. Its clear they cant hardly give them away. Just like 2006 the 0% offers usually mean desperate sellers. Honestly the only new car Id buy at this point is a Tesla w/ FSD. Ill keep driving "classics" until then.

Interesting, it must be the clean wiper blade rubber loosing it's grip with time resulting in less resistance so it seats properly. One more week and I'll be back in the US driving my new Maverick. I grew up and lived in the San Juan Islands for 45 yrs so like you I know all about the Western WA long gray winters and rain!

Just checked out the accessory link in your description. If you look at the description of the security system, turns out, you gain the functionality of basic remote starting with your key fob when installed by Ford. Correct me if I'm wrong, don't think the XL trim has remote start...so that's a double win in my book.
@@JellyStar-i2z Awesome! You're correct that the XT doesn't have remote start on the key fob, but it is still available through the FordPass app. I've tried it through the app and it worked nicely, although having it on the fob would save some steps and be a bit easier and more convenient. 🙂
I just discovered that FordPass Rewards can also be used for purchasing engine parts and all sorts of other components on the Ford Parts website parts.ford.com/shop/en/us These include regular maintenance items like windshield wiper blades and multiple other replacement parts. I found that the required Rewards Points do not display until after I select an item that I am interested in (that's why I didn't previously discover this). Either way, I appreciate having these additional options.

Car and Driver is frankly clueless if you ask me, they don't care about entry level vehicles, but that's what a lot of us need. I love my Cactus Gray XL Maverick, it's perfect for my needs. Would like to paint the steelies black though, maybe someday. 🙂

I always enable the start/stop at every startup. Not doing so is hard on the battery, starter and also on the engine. I have the cactus grey 2024 XLT front wheel drive. So far, I really like it.

Brings back memories. I had a perfect '70 C10 6cyl 4spd with 33,000mi that my grandpa bought new. I eventually added a new Mr. Goodwrench 305 v8, auto, posi, power steering and sway bar from a C10 sport truck, made a super nice truck. I never liked the Chevy rear coil springs, too wimpy and unstable, so I changed them out with C20 coils and that solved the problem without being overly stiff.

There is a way to adjust the AFE miles per gallon by going into engineering mode. There are posts about this on Maverick Truck Club and on google. My mileage is reading 2 to 3 miles per gallon too high.

Hi! I read that you want to use the L button when you want the car not being able to switch gears. But in the video you used the L button to drag. Is that right? Does the car shift gears when in sport and L engaged? If that’s so, what were the benefits you saw? Thanks!
@@chrisd2730 Excellent question! Yes, I used the L button for a kind of "drag" acceleration mode because it kept the transmission in a lower gear (within the "power band" of peak torque and peak horsepower) longer before automatically shifting up to the next gear. Additionally, L (Low) mode allowed me to begin the acceleration from a lower gear without having to wait for the transmission to downshift. It saves some acceleration time versus waiting for the transmission to "hunt" for a lower gear when initially depressing the accelerator pedal. But even just using Sport mode without the L button has essentially the same benefits -- just not quite as extreme. 🙂 Thanks for your comment!

Also the automatic transmission isn't that strong in the maverick. A few less foot pounds of torque probably equates to longer life and they added a transmission cooler as well. Cleaner emissions in California is a plus.

I tried the eco mode for the last week on my Maverick. Over 225 miles the truck averaged 30.3 miles per gallon. The computer showed 31.3. This is over 2 miles per gallon better than my 28.2 mpg using the normal drive mode. Like you, I am quite pleased with the gas mileage on this truck.

Very nice video. What octane of gasoline do you use ? I saw where Ford recommends using 91 octane but they say it wiil run on 87 octane also. My 2024 Maverick should be at my dealership mid September 2.0 ecoboost . Thanks for the videos.

I have the same truck as you (color too) drove 267 miles (a round trip total) and got 32 mpg with 87+ gas 😁 and that was when I was still under my first thousand miles.

@@kenveum6456 I suspect at certain speeds it would lower the gas mileage, but at other speeds it may increase it because the transmission mapping and RPM may be able to change up to a higher gear at lower vehicle speeds. Thanks for your question! 🙂👍
