How to Crochet With Fuzzy Yarn | How to Crochet with Faux Fur | Tips for Crochet with Fuzzy Yarn
Have you ever tried crocheting with faux fur yarn? It is actually one of my favorite yarns to crochet with! Fuzzy yarn is SO soft and squishy and it produces AMAZING finished products, but many crocheters find it difficult to work with. In this video, I'll give you my top 12 tips for working with faux fur yarn, so that you can love crocheting with faux fur yarn as much as I do!
Oh and by the way, this type of yarn can be known by many different terms.... Faux Fur Yarn..... Fuzzy Yarn..... Fur Yarn..... Furry Yarn.... Eyelash Yarn..... Novelty Yarn..... but all these different names refer to a yarn that has a long nap to it.

I love your use of faux fur. As a newer crocheter, I find it intimidating, but these tips definitely make me want to try it even more. I love how you use it to accent your stockings; I think it really makes your design pop!
Oh goodness, these are so adorable. Really loving the bone and fish patterns, too!
I just happened upon your channel today and I'm super impressed! I'm 30 years old and have been crocheting my entire life and I can't compete man, I am still a novice 😂 I would pick it up and put it down and rarely finish a project (hi, I have ADHD lol) but I've been learning and doing a whole lot more the last couple of years and actually finishing projects for a change and I can't wait to make your octopus (he'll be my first stuffed creation as well as arguably, the most complex project I've done so far so fingies crossed) and I am also so so glad you offer left handed tutorials as well!! One of my friends just started to learn but she's left handed and has had a hell of a time trying to find decent left handed tutorials and honestly, I tried to help her find some and, it is a STRUGGLE. So when I saw you offer both left and right handed guides, I sent her a link to your channel so fast! I hope you keep up the good work and thank you for doing what you're doing!!
Really nice can we get a pattern?:)
Yes! Here is the free pattern on my blog with the TH-cam video embedded: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-octopus/
round 14 on the body is super confusing!! 😢
I am sorry you’re confused, here is the link to the free written instructions incase that helps: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-dinosaur-triceratops/ Also you can email me at sweetcreekpatterns @ gmail.com if you have a specific question.
Ilove that someone so young is creating patterns. You are very talented. I teach ages 6 to 18 to knit and crochet and having someone there age create patterns will be a wonderful resource and model for my students to see. I am making this pattern as a gift for a students little brother.
Oh, how fun! I am thrilled at the thought of being an inspiration to kids! Thanks for your kindness!🥰
I had to slow the speed down to .65 and your speed is still impressive 😅. However I finished and it came out just like the pic🙌🏾 . Working on my second one now 💖
Yay! So glad you were able to make it! I have been working on crocheting more slowly in my videos 😁 if you ever need it, I do have the free written instructions on my blog: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet_mini_stocking/
I love this octopus! The only problem I have is theres no written row in the video. I have trouble processing audio and I think a row tracker/stitch tracker of somesort will help a lot of people.
Glad you like the octopus! The free written instructions are on my blog: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-octopus/
@sweetcreekpatterns Thank you! This will help so much in making christmas gifts.
@soursprout_ of course! Happy crocheting!🧶
Soooo Precious
Thanks so much!🥰
Vwry cute but confusing.
I’m sorry you’re struggling, perhaps the free blog post would help: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet_mini_stocking/ Let me know if you have a specific question, and I’d be happy to help!
I was wondering how I would make the dog bone shape if I was doing this pattern in just hdc? (I want them to match our other stockings I made for me and my boyfriend lol)
That is a great question! I would recommend following the instructions that I have for back panel of this (different) dog bone stocking: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-dog-bone-stocking-pattern/ The back panel for this is dc, but you could slightly modify for hdc, or if you think it looks similar enough follow the back panel exactly.
Love making my first octopus while following your instructions which are very clear. Thank you so much .😊😊😊❤❤
I’m so glad you liked the pattern! Thanks for your comment!
Do you know the pattern for that Christmas stocking? The white one with fur trim at beginning of video
That stocking is by my friend Ashley from A Crafty Concept, here is the link: www.acraftyconcept.com/crafty-boho-stocking/ I have a dog bone and cat stocking that matches her pattern, here is the link: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-dog-bone-stocking-pattern/
Thank you Emily, such useful tips, I am quite chuffed that I managed to work some of these out for myself already, but the rest made sense, once you told us. I mastered the art of using this type of wool by making lots of fluffy ghosts for Halloween 👻, I left them hollow and put battery tea lights inside, so any mistakes would have show up. I enjoyed making your granny stitch stocking too, using it! Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you so much for your kindness! Merry Christmas to you, too!🎄
Yay! I am so glad you enjoyed the video! That’s so fun you speak German, my Grandpa grew up speaking German.
hello! so i’m working with weight 4 yarn and i’m wanting to make my star just a bit bigger , how can i go about making my stitches? i was thinking of just winging it like usual but i want this to be correct.
If you are going to make this pillow with #4 worsted weight yarn, and you still want it to turn out bigger I would recommend that you use 2 or 3 strands of the worsted weight yarn together, and use a bigger hook size. I would also highly recommend making a little swatch with the # of strands and the hook size you want to use to make sure that there won't be holes with stuffing showing through on your final make!
You have a wonderful voice but you are crocheting way too fast. I couldn’t tell what you were doing. I’m sorry
That is definitely something I have been working on. Please check out the free blog post if you are still interested in making this: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet_mini_stocking/
this is an INCREDIBLE tutorial. hands down the best and easiest crocheter to follow. she’s just an immaculate teacher!
Aw, thanks so much! I really appreciate your kindness!❤🧶
14:17 why did you skip it what was that round????
I apologize for that! It looks like you *bobble, sc, repeat in ea st* for that round. If you need more instructions at any point, please check out the blog post: sweetcreekpatterns.com/round-crochet-pillow/
I bought the pattern, too but, I like to follow along. Thank you. So fun I made the granny dog stocking, too. I love it.
Yay! I am so glad you enjoyed making them! Thanks for your support!❤🧶
Vielen lieben Dank für die Anleitung! Du machst wirklich wundervolle Sachen! 😍Mach bitte weiter so!🙏
Thank you so much for your kind comments!
How do you use two stands?
Hi, I just got some premier Bunny yarn, I love how they look but I definitely can’t work with it, I was wondering if you can give me some tips or if you can make a video to show us how to work with that type of yarn?
Thanks for the idea! I will definitely look at making a video about that! Here are a couple of tips in the mean time: 1. Use lots of stitch markers! 2. Use a larger hook size so you can feel the stitches easier. 3. Follow simple patterns with limited increases and different stitches (plus you wouldn’t be able to see a fancy stitch anyway) Hope those were helpful!
Thank you sooo much for the tips! they helped me a lot. ☺️
@@esmerodriguez3886 Yay! I am so glad they helped!
SQUID, not octopus!!!!!!
I tried making this today cause it was so cute, but I had to stop and rewind so much and zoom in that I just gave up. I had trouble keeping up with the speed, but that was probably just me.
I am sorry you were struggling! I have been working on becoming better with my TH-cam instructions! I highly recommend you check out the free blog post here: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet_mini_stocking/
Let me know if you have a specific struggle I can help with!
This is the left handed version of the Stocking Tutorial, if you are looking for the right handed version, click here: th-cam.com/video/m0mmxsdfFck/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7SPyRt9x-Xj3CJJ8 Thanks so much for watching, and please make sure to subscribe to my TH-cam channel for weekly crochet tutorials and vlogs!
You are very talented!
Thank you so much!
You did a great job explaining. Very nice pattern.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Well done Emily, I enjoyed this pattern very much. Reading through the comments, I found people to be a bit blunt, please don’t be discouraged, you are doing a fabulous job, if you get flustered, it’s ok, words don’t always come easily or freely, please just be you.
Aw, thank you so much for your kindness! I definitely am working on becoming better on camera, but I appreciate your encouragement that it doesn’t have to be perfect! Thank you!🫶
How much yarn do you use for that project?
Hi Patricia! I used about 75 yards of green yarn for this project and about 3 yds of white yarn! Happy crocheting!
@ thanks for answering my question
What a cute pattern! Thank you. I'll be making it soon. ❤
Yay! So glad you like it!❤
I think this is the left hand version?
Yes! If you want the right handed version, that is also on my channel. Happy crocheting!
Tremendous job!! I have been crocheting for 40 years and you are so talented!! I have just discovered your channel and can’t wait yo come back for more tutorials
Aw, thank you so much! I appreciate your kindness, and look forward to hearing what all you crochet!❤🧶
Oh I love all of your creations!!
Thank you so much!❤
Thank you so much for this no-sew octo, I'm gonna make a few for my upcoming holiday market! I mostly avoid Amigurumi cuz I hate sewing pieces together, but I've always wanted to make an octopus
Yay! I am so glad to hear you like the Octopus pattern! Happy crocheting!🧶
Thank you for all your work in putting this video and pattern together! I need your help! I’m confused on the legs. On the left leg, you add the 3 SC but not on the right. However, when I look at the video, both left and right appear to have the slanted top. I’m not sure, also, why you would not do it for both. The pattern on your website is the same. Help!!
Hi! So, the reason you add the 3 sc on one side but not the other is because of what side you will put the leg onto the body. So we add 3 sc on the left side because it will go there. Then on the right side if we did the same the foot would be backwards. Hopefully that makes sense. Sc 3 on the left leg and for the right leg do not. Glad you are enjoying the pattern!🥰
thanks for the cute octopus, btw can u tell me how many stitch in row 14? (13 row is 24)
Glad you are enjoying the pattern! There should be 32 sts at the end of Rnd 14. You can check out the free blog post here if you ever get confused and want to look at the written instructions: sweetcreekpatterns.com/crochet-octopus/ Happy crocheting!🧶
thanks so much, ur explain was very helpful!

Cutest octopus ever🥰 I made a mini one, thank you for this tutorial❤❤
Your welcome! I am thrilled to hear you enjoyed it!❤❤
So cute! Can't wait for the pattern🤩
Aw, thanks so much!
I have a question regarding the cuff. Should the dc-Inc-cluster in rows 1-2 both be located on each edge of the stocking when laying flat? Mine is not coming out that way. It’s off on both sides. I started the cuff row 1 where row 26 ended.
I had to shift mine a little as far as the whole thing.. That might not make sense but the increases are evenly apart… just adjust the stocking so that the increases are folded in half on both sides… sorry if that’s confusing
@@izmac9146If you had to shift a little, why not have your video or written instructions actually note what it is supposed to be? I had to adjust rows 1 and 2, but I am at a loss for 3-5. I felt you rushed through the cuff instructions. I am spending way too much time on this project. I think you are the cutest and please continue on with your TH-cam, but your instructions need to be better explained.
Hi Maria! I think I understand what you are asking, and here is the answer: For the Faux Fur cuff you are supposed to go to the chain side. So, after Rnd 26 you are supposed to turn your stocking inside out and sc to close the hole, then turn it right side out and start the cuff on the other side (where you began your stocking). Let me know if that is what you were wondering about! I am happy to help!
Thanks for your feedback. I would highly recommend you check out the blog post for the written instructions: sweetcreekpatterns.com/dog-bone-stocking/ That might be able to help you out!
😃👍👏🤗🥰💐

Great pattern I was able to follow just fine. I almost gave up on the chain two at the beginning of each row but I’m glad I didn’t. Love how it turned out!! Thank you for sharing and all the time you put into showing us!
Yay, I am so thrilled you were able to follow along and make this stocking, how fun! Glad it turned out for you!😁
Hi Emily! Question, is the back panel supposed to be smaller than the front panel? Greetings from the Netherlands :)
Hi! So with this pattern it *looks* like the back panel is smaller, but because the back panels' stitches are taller it actually turns out the same size (so the more rnds on the front makes it = the same size as the back panel). Hope that makes sense. Love that you are watching from the Netherlands, how neat! Happy Crocheting! Incase you ever need it you can find my free blog post for this pattern here: sweetcreekpatterns.com/round-crochet-pillow/
Sooooo cute❤
So glad you like it!
Hi! I absolutely love your patterns! Small question, the hdc at the tail. Are they on the top or botom of the body? Thank you and great work!
Hi Heather! I am so glad you are enjoying making this pattern! The hdc at the tail should be on the top off the body, so that the tail goes down and not just straight back. Happy crocheting!
