you just need less.
WHAT IF you don't need all those shiny and overwhelming resolutions to do more and be better this year? What if what you *really* need is less?
Less self-improvement. Less stuff. Less information.
This is the crazy idea I'm proposing as we start 2025. Let's make this our year of less.

    Nice video. I always love how you strike a balance between explaining yourself and adding nuance without going in circles. That, combined with the easy-to-follow chapters, always tickles my brain the right way. I have been working on tidying up my space and found a bit of an unconventional approach to it. I live in a fairly small apartment, so I wanted to maximize the use of my storage areas. I bought some containers with perfect dimensions-not horribly expensive but not cheap either. When it came time to fill them, I found myself looking at my junk and realizing I did not want to waste a nice box on it, so I ended up decluttering. Something about the box being worth more than the travel toiletries hit me I guess... It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it made me look at my items differently. If I am not willing to pay for proper storage for an item, then I probably do not value it enough to keep it. Kind of a rant, but just something that resonated with me, and I have not really heard anyone talk about it.

    • @WorthyHours
      @WorthyHours 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh my goodness, I LOVE that. TBH, I think I've only ever bought nice containers for the things I feel like deserve them... I never thought of it working the other way, too, but that's genius!

    Frustarting experience of having too much, drove me to This. But the word minimalism i found much later. When i started i tried to keep my things in my cupnboard. Supper cluttered. I've felt overstimulated for years. I am an empath, and I pick up on other people's emotions easily. It has come to the point that I hesitate to leave my house because it affects me so negatively. I am curious if that is the way you felt. I have had 2 sessions of Reiki. Afterward, I felt like a ball of nerves. Have you tried that or acupuncture? The nervous system is so complex that when it is out of balance, it can make you physically sick.

    • @WorthyHours
      @WorthyHours 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh my goodness! I think mine was a little different--I DO pick up on other people's emotions and that contributes to the overstimulation, but I also really struggle in situations where I'm required to multitask or there's a lot of information being thrown at me without any sort of structure or order and where things are constantly changing. All of those things were present a year ago. I haven't tried acupuncture or reiki--I have done talk therapy, breathing, and meditation, and prayer, and those have really helped me calm my nervous system down to the point that I don't feel overstimulate *all* the time. Thank you so much for commenting! 💛 I hope you're able to find some things that help you navigate leaving your house (when you want to, of course!) a little bit easier. Your ability to feel emotions deeply is a gift to the world. I'm so sorry to hear that it's causing you pain, too. 😔

    I watched your video and it was the final push for me to take a break from insta, threads and the online news. Starting tomorrow I wil not use Instagram and threads for a month and the online news I wil only look at twice a day. Earlier I decided to describe from a lot of channels here on youtube who bring "bad news" or triggering content. Although I like to know everything about everywhere , my timeline was constantly filled with apocalyptic titles and thumbnails from those channels. Getting me stressed just scrolling through the overview and finding the world to be a place filled with horror. I believe a human mind was not made for global worries on that large scale, you have no input on those matters yet it fills your mind with a feeling of impending doom. And yet I keep finding myself scrolling and scrolling.. Now that I removed those channels my overview on youtube is a lot more mind friendly.

    I've gone through periods of my life where I'm really content.. but I think it's so true how life can pile up (especially in today's internet paced world)..and lose perspective.. thanku.. this was such a great video.. I really appreciate the way the worded and communicated the message in an interesting, cool, yet gentle way-thanks! When I was content in the past, I was grateful for everything, happy in my relationship with God..and I guess trusting that where I'm at is where God has me..which fosters more contentment (and trust).. Though like you say, you can still work towards goals and dreams but just enjoy your surroundings and still be content where you're at.. I was last content today when writing a song at the piano.. so true about getting lost in an activity is sooooooooo relaxing and fulfilling! I'm also going to really try to speak the truth and not add or take away truths/what I think or feel to look a certain way/or for people pleasing..living honestly is better than living a 'lie'. (I'm an honest person, but I've realised that acting how I think others want me to act/ to keep the peace etc/ is a form of lying, which I think also builds discontentment..so that's a new one for me to start working on!)
