Spitting facts on comics. If want to read a Batman or x-men etc story line I have to spend half the day reading reddit posts to find a reading order. Then I would have to buy tons of rando series just for a couple chapters etc its major bs. Suncoastttttttttt have not heard that name in awhile haha. Remember going to one near me all the time.

I didn’t want to read Initial D at first either because of the art. But I gave the first omnibus a try and enjoyed it. I do wonder how long car racing can hold my interest since it’s pretty long. I feel like Marvel and DC are getting better at putting things out in order. Marvel’s Epic line will put things from a series in order and mix in side appearances and event stuff. However, they jump around a lot. Like X-Men goes up to 12 then skips to 17. The skipped stuff is available elsewhere which is why they skipped it for the time being. DC also started a line like this were things are published by year. They are trying, haha. However, it still bugs me when there isn’t a clear ending like in manga or the art changes.

A lot of your description of what you would like from Marvel's paperbacks is the idea behind their Epic collections. Each volume collects a chronological section of a character's appearances, and the books all have numbers written on the back. But, to your point, they are released out of order and quickly go out of print. Also, a lot of the appearances are unnecessary padding imo, which just makes the books cost more for irrelevant pages. And of course, creative teams change all the time, so it's hard to know where you could start if not volume 1 (volume 1, often, being stories so old as to turn away casual buyers). All that makes the Epics more of a collector's line as opposed to a manga-like "start at volume 1 and read."

17:30 I do see your point, but when I found out these English license companies were publishing manwha I thought it was for the fact that Manwha is getting more well-known and popular. Back when I was in middle school and high school I didn’t see really any manwha out. The only ones I saw was goong and Bride of the Water God. And a few from tokyopop. We honestly need more published 😢 so many good ones I’ve read online.

with anime/manga art being so similar sometimes, have you ever confused a show or book ? i recently watched Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai because i thought it was Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu, i heard it has a dark twist, it took me 5 episodes to realize im watching the wrong show. Also when the jojo craze begun i watched the old anime and i thought jojo fans were stupid for many years.

To your eternity is great and so different and awesome! I dont think it fell off as hard as people say. Just shows how high it was to have a lower plateau when a new arc comes and people cant handle it. (will make sense when you read.) But its super good!

Heyy thanks for answering my (overly wordy per usual...) question. I agree that having longer video game stories condensed into manga would be a good way to revisit certain moments. Scythe would be an interesting choice for a manga adaptation too. Great haul as always, I actually picked up A Stepmother's Marchen on MW's recommendation (I love political intrigue stories) and I am really enjoying it! I love how cinematic its title pages are and I agree the way the story plays out is very mysterious and intriguing. I love that you made a PPT about your trip 😆You're all "Ok parasocials, you're not getting anything out of us about our trip! ...Anyway, here's a two-hour presentation of every place we went" lol You do have some really nice pictures in there tho (Some random comments as I watched): As someone who travels fairly regularly between US-East Asia -- everything you said about the plane ride sounds exactly right, they're more often than not pretty miserable in anything under business class (except during C-time when you could get an entire row! to yourself, which was amazing), and even then the other passengers can be pretty obnoxious depending on your luck. Foreigners definitely overestimate the average Japanese person's English ability -- it may be skewed because if a Japanese person does go up to speak to a foreigner, it means they're fairly confident in their ability, which is pretty rare in my experience. Peanuts (but not Colonel Sanders 🤔) is also strangely super popular in Taiwan... I don't really get it, either. That rant about the traditional Japanese meal 💀 they do go hard on the seafood and jellified items. Japanese (and Taiwanese) 7-11s/convenient stores are far superior to anything in the US. As someone who lived in South Korea for a time, I felt a cold chill just hearing DW provoke their netizens 😬they don't joke around about how much they abhor Japan You gotta go to Animate or Book Off for the legit anime goods!
