Geno's Log, Total Eclipse 2024
I know you all haven't heard from me in awhile, but I had to post about my experience with the Eclipse of 2024. Amanda and I traveled to a rural location in Southern Illinois just to watch the eclipse. This is part of experience. And keep an eye out for more content, coming soon -- I hope.

What Not Repair Broken Bird on Wood
มุมมอง 1032 ปีที่แล้ว
This hand-made copper sandpiper belongs to my father-in-law. Before him it belonged to his mother. We are not sure where it originally was purchased but presume it to have been somewhere in Florida and most likely in the Siesta Key area. Somehow it was damaged and I was asked if I could repair it. This is that repair. Enjoy!
2017 Dodge Charger Key Fob Remote Battery Replacement (SHORT)

Ever wonder how to change the battery in your car's remote. If you have a Dodge Charger, or any number of recent Dodge vehicles, that allows you to start and operate the car without actually using a key, than this video might help you out. The primary battery we see in Dodge key fob remotes is a CR2032 (coin battery.) These are very popular.

Geno's VLOG: Winter Weather Driving Feb 17, 2022
มุมมอง 682 ปีที่แล้ว
A winter storm rolled through central Illinois this morning. I had scheduled jobs as far as 100 miles away. The weather had other ideas. So, I ended up only about 30 miles from home to repair a safe and drive back. By then the storm was starting to kick up in full. This is my perspective on the weather. Enjoy!
Harbor Freight - Pittsburg 3-Jaw Puller Unboxing and Review
มุมมอง 3.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I am in the middle of a Key Machine rebuild and needed to remove a pulley from the motor shaft. It was stuck and I did not have a puller. So off to Harbor Freight to grab a puller and get this job done. This puller was a very inexpensive way to accomplish my task. And yes, I would recommend this tool as an entry level puller.

A couple other thoughts.. depending how thick your top is, mount this from the underside and then if you ever need the surface you can pull lamp out and nothing will be in the way. Also another idea is two flat metal plates one flush mounted to the top the other mounted underneath and each have a hole like you drilled here aligned and all is flush and no top interference. I just this week finished repairing an ancient ring light magnifier lamp and replaced the fluorescent with LED, huge improvement. Light is so much brighter... Cool video keep making them and we will keep watching.

Well ok thanks for the teardown video. I think that the slop that you attempted to improve never mattered except getting that center bolt back in and cleaning the shafts and threads is always good. I have one and it's just not a precision vise but it does the job until the e-clip breaks. Then it sorta still works.

I have this exact one, and I'm trying to figure out what the black piece in front of the washer on the spindle is, that you referred to as the "clip", and is that a part that is readily available to replace? The one I have does not have one. Can you tell me if there's a specific name for it or what size it is? I can't seem to find any replacement parts online for this particular model.

LIFTING: Yep, I already have a bad back. Live in an area where my closest friend is 20 miles away. Solution when I need to lift from the floor to the bench? Harbor Freight lift table, wheel it over to what I have to move and lift. Get it on table then go to where it needs to go. IT’s hydraulic so my foot pumps it up. Easy Peasy.

Nice job Geno. The jeweled hinges look great. Only other thing I'd do is shorten the carriage bolts and hinge screws by 1/2 at least. Would help clean up the job, etc. All that work but the long screws make it appear unfinished.

    • @GenosGizmos
      @GenosGizmos ปีที่แล้ว

I apologize for not responding sooner. Why did I choose a mini-mill versus a full size mill? I think that is what you are asking. Truthfully, I was in a hurry to get to milling for some small projects. I have a full size mill that needs a lot of work and someday I hope to get it fixed and operating. The full size mill needs a new motor, as well as a controller. The cost to repair the full size mill was going to be in the thousands of dollars. I needed a quick way to proceed with the work I was doing at the time. Someday I will have the full on machine shop, but for now I am making do. And no, I do not have the space for much more. It's crazy how fast you can fill up an empty space.
