Seriously good video and good work. Night and day compared to I'd say most videos out there. I'm curious in this project how the beams and joists looked? Were they damaged from years of moisture? The dirt floor looks relatively dry. I'm torn between the two schools of lime mortar mix vs other cement mixes. I thought I was convinced to use cement but this video is giving me food for thought. I've never heard of the lime and marble dust finish but now I'm interested. The owners must feel amazing about this project and no more crumbling wall debris constantly on the floor or utilities. I have a pretty awful rubble foundation with a couple of deep voids, wetness seepage in the walls in a couple spots but basement has never flooded. I have insulated rim joists but not ceiling. Not sure if this matters in regards to air /moisture circulation when using lime mix? Your understanding of what you're starting with and how best to tackle without unnecessary bells and whistle systems is so impressive and earnest. I've watched a LOT of foundation related videos, wondering what I could do myself vs just getter' all done fast and finished by a pro like you. I so wish I was in your area. If you have any equally qualified referrals in the northwest of boston area I would love to know. I'm having trouble finding the right contractor/tradesman for the basement work I need, for even an assessment from someone wanting to take it on. A lot of foundation repair co's I've called from local google searching just want to throw in a couple smartjacks, drain systems and sump pump and call it a day. I need your kind of quality work and tbh I need some joist/column replacements along with it. Not sure if one project contractor generally tackle both areas or do most people hire a certain trandesman for walls then wood structure? Great video, very helpful. For a existing home, Can you join two small wood beams using metal connectors to bring the two wood beams together to make one long beam to get rid of a column holding up the weight of the beam?

I'm a competitor and I've watched the video. I've now copied your unique patented basement dig out methods and made billions.

I did something similar as a teenager when my dad wanted to extend and deepen our cellar at home. We actually dug down past the foundations (18" cinders), put in some strip footings with blockwork walls in front of the existing founds/walls then backfilled with concrete and finally put in the concrete floor. The cellar was extended from the back 1/3 of the house for another 1/3 to give us an internal staircase and three decent usable rooms.
