At 2:25 in the video: is this procedure painful? Have you ever had one done on yourself! I had one 2 days ago (lumbar spine area) and each of the six jabs of needle hurt like hell. I've never sworn so much in public before. There was no intravenous sedation. That probably would have helped.

I do have to say that for the "twilight sleep" i have a slight memory of choking on the tube for the endoscopy. And i mean a memory so you dont feel it you just may have a memory. Thats it. I finally figured what I was sedated with during my endoscopy. It was an okay and peaceful experience. All I was thinking about was I was a tiny bit nauseous and needed to puke but I couldn't speak so I tugged on my doctor's apron 😅 And no you don't get high or anything. You will just feel peaceful.

I wish I had had a clinic like this. Previously, I had two colonoscopies with conscious sedation and one with no sedation. No sedation was the best! Last time though, despite my objections, I was put to sleep entirely. I woke up depressed, angry with the doctor and nurse, angry with myself for consenting, just feeling lousy. As it wore off some, I could feel discomfort in the abdomen that I hadn't had after previous colonoscopies, as if my bowel had been handled more roughly, so I took acetaminophen. By the third day I was starting to feel more normal. I'm on the fourth day now and really trying to forget how bad it was. But never again will I consent to be knocked out for no good reason!

I’ve had multiple ESI’s over the last two years. Recently we changed to the transforaminal type to address the terrible groin and testicular pain associated with L2-3 and L3-4 disc collapse. My first one was 31 January and my second one is tomorrow, 10 May. So it lasted quite awhile. My spine center puts me completely asleep with Versed so I have zero pain and there’s really no injection site pain the next day. I don’t understand these doctors who do the injections using only local pain relief. The videos clearly show that there is pain involved which is ridiculous given that they can be done pain-free.

Although still not FDA approved, the agency considered a full contraindication and a Black Box Warning for ESI’s due to reports of serious adverse medical events including death during the 2014 AADPAC advisory hearings. The FDA also ruled that fluoroscopy did NOT reduce risk. In fact an advisory panel voted 14 to 7 to initiate a full CONTRAINDICATION for CESI’s but the FDA overturned their decision without explanation.
