I threw Mag Dawgs, which are about 8oz, to see how it handled them. I had no issues with that at all. So, throwing a 10" Jake, 10" Slammer, or even a 13" Grandma would be no issue. Personally, I will be using the Alijoz 400 for bucktails, spinnerbaits, jerks, glides, cranks, and twitch baits. I have a different reel I will be using for my rubber reel.

I would bet they would swap it out for you. They want to keep customers happy. I am being completely honest, too, about burning up the gears on the 8.1:1. My reel recommendation video will be uploaded soon.

Thank you for the offer, but the line you mentioned to get me a spool of is the line I saw break first hand. It won't be going on my reels at anytime. Thank you for the offer, though.

      Where/how did it break?

@@TuffEsox 10'-15' from the leader, on the cast with a Fat Bastard. Newly spooled up 80lb line for the guy; no backlash, no engaged reel, nothing. The line simply broke. I knew about the line last year coming out. Talked to guys in the know about it. It piqued my interest in the winter. Lost interest pretty quickly in the summer. It was being handed out like candy to guys. After seeing it break like that, no thanks.

@TuffEsox Believe what you want. I was there. I saw it happen. I'm the one that moved the boat so he could net his Fat Bastard. Thank you again for the offer, though.

I've been a Sufix Performance Braid (SPB) guy for anything in the 65-80# test range (100# is overkill & unnecessary. Just ask any tarpon guy) for the past 15 years or so. Tried the 832, PP, Cortland, and various lesser-known brands whose names escape me at the moment, etc., but always went back to SPB, primarily due to the consistency over the years & price point. Early last summer, I needed new line on my main Bay casting set-up & hit my local bait shop (Smokey's on the Bay) to get respooled. Tilky had the 80# XS Big Game in bulk, so I told him to spool me up with "THAT BLUE SHIT" (my exact words) that everybody was suddenly pimping on Facebook seemingly from out of nowhere. Several buddies, including my PMTT partner, were gushing about the stuff, so I wanted to see what all the hubbub was about. Frankly, it fished like BUTTER right out of the gate. I was immediately impressed. There was a NOTICEABLE difference in casting & smoothness compared to my SPB and all other lines. I was truly impressed. Strong, quiet, smooth, increased casting distance & low H2O retention - it's got everything I'm looking for. Plus, it handles BIG Green Bay fish just fine. I've spooled up a couple reels with FINS 40G & Wind Tamer lines, too. Looking forward to putting those through their paces this season! If you don't know who FINS is, it is the US-based company owned by Dave Burch, the father of modern superline braids. He was the operating partner of BBS, the company responsible for the development of UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight) fibers that led to the creation of SpiderWire back in 1993. He's the OG. Since then, Dave worked closely to develop braids for over 30 well-known "superline" braids worldwide. Eventually/recently, several brands chose to off-shore production - chasing cheaper costs/higher profits at the expense of quality/consistency (see your PP comment). Dave chose to stop making everybody else's braids & created his own FINS brand. Proudly braid in the USA 🇺🇸. Do yourself a favor & check out FINS. Hit me up if you want a sample spool.
