      We all had kids at the same time, sold our houses at the same time, and 2/3 moved to another town in Texas, while I moved to rural Colorado. We're all best buds, but we haven't traveled like this together in a while. My own channel has more recent uploads, if you're interested.

    What is the tire size on that 2.5 Gen Montero?

    • @WhittakerOutdoors

      They are 285/70R17 General Grabber X3 with 4runner Trail 17" wheels. I'll be shooting a full walk-around on it for my personal channel before too long.

      @@WhittakerOutdoors ah I see. I think in this video it looks like you are rocking the factory 16” wheels. Im curious, what is your opinion on the GDI model Gen 2.5s from Japan? Not worth the hassle?

      Thank you!! It's been a long while since we filmed anything together, but I'm working on content for my channel. I still have the NL as well as a few other 4x4s. - The group sold homes, had a few kids, and have been busy with life the last couple years, but I'm sure something will be uploaded again at some point.

    That was very enjoyable! One question though... wasn't the old 2nd gen Pajero better then the other two :)

    • @WhittakerOutdoors

      Thank you! They all have the pros and cons, depending on your uses. The older Gen 2.5 Montero belongs to me and I have it at my new house in CO. It's as rock solid as they come. The Gen 3s are both cool in their own way too, having IFS/IRS with a really slick trailing arm design that was the result of Dakar Rally engineering.

    I have been in love of Pajero since adolocent, but in ths North America people are too much into crappy unibody SUV, unlike truck based one 😭😭😭. Hope these guys still keep such nice car & I will import it frm Japan if God wills 😂

    One of the best overlanding videos on YT. Period! I also have a 2004 3rd gen, what lift & tire upgrade do you guys recommend? I went slightly bigger on tires (265/75R16 KOs) but I want to lift it a bit, too. I've heard ARB Old Man Emu is a good option. Keep rockin'!

    • @WhittakerOutdoors
      @WhittakerOutdoors ปีที่แล้ว

      ARB Old Man Emu is a good choice. On my '06 Gen 3, I ran Lovells springs, Bilstein 5100s, and 285/75R17 Patagonia MTs. Andy and Jeremiah both run similar setups. Andy's is on OME and Patagonias, while Jeremiah's was on OME and General Grabber X3s.

    I'm seriously thinking about a Montero Limited(2002-2006?) for my first rig. My research has shown me that they perform well and are reliable. Plus I like to be the underdog. What things should I consider before buying one? By the way, I plan to drive it from the Dallas area to Colorado Springs where my daughter lives to go on some trails up there. One of my concerns is breaking down on the way and not being able to find parts in stock.

    • @WhittakerOutdoors
      @WhittakerOutdoors 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Join the Mitsubishi Montero USA group on FB, or if you don't have FB check out Adventure Driven Designs and their forum. Additionally, you can look on Expedition Portal under the Mitsubishi build threads and find a ton of information about them. They're reliable, capable, comfortable, and parts aren't hard to find.

    What is called "Overlanding" today, was called "Off Roading" when I was your age, lol. Most every level of trail difficulty, except rock crawling and mudding. Back around 1990 my friends and I explored almost every Colorado Fire Access Road, trail, Pass, and River Crossing in the state. I had an '86 4Runner, my buddy had a '69 Bronco, 2 guys w Blazers, the wives, and kids at our sides. Such good memories. My sons (6 and 9 at the time) grew up, and both own 1st Gen 4runners, and to this day say that their favorite childhood memories are from the trails. All my buddies from that period gave up off roading for boating, a sports cars. Me ...2 jeeps, 2 troopers, and a Dodge Raider later, I'm still on the trails. Stay safe, great video. Cheers.

    Thank you very much for sharing this! Absolutely Beautiful! I love my 06 so much. I call the Montero/Pajero a budget LR4. They are amazing vehicles, and just sitting in them feels like an adventure. I have always wanted to go on a overland/photography trip. There were so many perfect photo moments in your video. The scene at 21:50 looks like one of those "PERFECT" moments. I hope to see more videos!! Thanks For Sharing: Much Love From Iowa :)
